SEMILONG HAIR CAT ASSOCIATION SHOW 20TH MARCH 2010 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E ALLEN

My thanks to Di, Mandy and the show committee for their kind invitation to judge again this year. A lovely day with some quality felines too!! I was sorry that Tania could not last the day with her shoulder injury but am so grateful to Peter Kilmartin for stepping in for the miscellaneous classes! I do hope we can work together before too long. Thanks for the Easter egg, a challenge to get it home in one piece even though it is Lent!!

AOV SLH PREMIER FEMALE

1 GR PR BARLETTAS UK & IMP GR CH & PR COONTASTIC RAPHAELLA 64 31et 23.5.04

I have judged this lovely girl several times throughout her show career and she continues to remain one of my archetypical Maine Coons! She has wonderful head type, fabulous body and build and the most devine coats to finish it all off. I was delighted to find out that I had made her into a Grand Premier to add to her illustrious titles! Congratulations she did look simply wonderful on the day.

RES GR PR HARDWICK RUTTERKIN KISS ME KATE 64 31et 28.6.06

Hard lines to come up against Raphaella, another very lovely girl with so much to commend her, again very nice head type and balance, if I was to criticise anything she would not hold her ears up as well as the winner. My deciding factor was on the quality of her coat, that was starting to moult and did not just have that final finish. I think she too is a lovely example of the breed and made me think hard for the final placings!

AC SILVER TABBY SERIES MAINE COON ADULT MALE

BOB to UK & IMP GR CH COONTASTIC LUIGI 64 31fts 23.5.04

Looking absolutely wonderful today, I don’t think I have ever seen him look better. Later on looking at my catalogue, he is the brother to Raphaella, what an amazing litter that must have been!

AC SILVER TABBY SERIES MAINE COON ADULT FEMALE

1CC KILMARTINS CH LADY MARMALADE OF COONCITY 64 41esw 5.8.07

I really liked this female. She has such style, with large, well set ears with super tufts and tips. Great bread to her head with high cheek bones. Uniform width nose with slight concave curve in profile and strong line from nose to chin. Very nice square muzzle. Long body and tail with a nicely shown coat, I thought her coat colouring was really great with super contrasts. Very well shown.

2 WHITES CARRAMAZZA TOPAZ TEMPTRESS 64 44as 8.2.09

This young lady was a very low grade silver colouring for me, with minimal contrasts just at the roots of her hair shaft. I also felt she was rather immature with a very short head. She needs to develop more strength to the lower half of her face to bring her into better balance. Long body and tail with great body weight. Well shown and in lovely condition but for me just not balanced enough as yet facially.

AC TURKISH VAN ADULT

1 LLOYDS CH SHADYCOMBE MADAM BUTTERFLY 13d od 14.8.06

Mature lady with very nice head shape and type. I particularly liked her balanced moderate wedge and wonderful eye shape and colour. Very well shown and great to handle The young male in this class was wrongly registered so am sure his Mum will rectify this in time for his next outing!

AV SLH NOVICE KITTEN

1 GARDINORS ATAKAD ALL FIRED UP 13c5 27.7.09

Stylish young man with a very nice broad and rounded head. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. His cheeks were full and tapered to a nicely developing muzzle and chin. Medium sized ears that were well set apart on his head. Almost round mid blue eyes. Very promising body that was long and of nice substance. Medium length legs with strong, short paws. Bushy tail that was nicely proportioned in length to his body. His coat was quite long and silky in texture, ruff developing and with a nice pale cream tone and slight golden hue over his shoulders. His points a pleasing orange tone and quite well matching. His white gloves finished just below the crease between paw and leg, white socks covering his back paws and his gauntlets were very well matched and tapered up the back of his legs to just below his point of hock. Very well shown and great to handle.

2 HORTONS CAROLEMAINE LADYOFNAMRIB 64 41d 30.7.09

A very pretty youngster with considerable promise. Super head type and lovely bone and structure. Her coat patterning is developing in clarity and she just needs a little more definition to the tabby patterning. Very well shown and a real character.

3 BURNS SOMANTIKKS IZZADORA-BELLE 63 20.9.09

AC NORWEGIAN FOREST KITTEN

1 MACPHERSONS FORESTFRIEND LOUIE 67 31ts M 1.10.09

A stylish young man with very nicely balanced triangular head with large ears well set on his head. Large expressive eyes. Virtually straight profile with a firm chin. Long well filled body and great length to his tail. Long limbs with nice boning. I particularly liked his coat already very thick and of double consistency and with the coarse guard hairs developing nicely. Well shown.

 2 MANSELLS FORESTMIST SANARI 67 31ats F 19.7.09

I very much liked this young lady too she has a very promising head shape, slightly longer than equilateral triangle at the moment but with nice width and well set ears. Expressive large eyes that follow the lines of her head nicely. Almost straight profile and firm chin my only criticism is that her nose is rather uniform in width, I would prefer to see the inner triangle whereas she has rather a broad nose at the bridge. Long body and tail with super furnishings. Very thick double coat with the coarser guard hairs well developed. Nicely shown.

3 JOHNSTONES TUYET DEMALZA 67 31s F

AC TURKISH VANKEDISI KITTEN

1 LLOYDS TANZDALE ICE-ICE BABY 13w bl

Very promising young lady super moderate wedge developing. Expressive eyes of great colour Nicely developed frame and body and very well shown. Great character as well!

 AV SLH MAIDEN NEUTER

1 BARLETTAS COONTASTIC HUFFLEPUFF 64 15d 29.5.09 MN

A sweet youngster with much promise. Nicely balanced head and type with large, high set ears with super furnishings. High cheek bones and very good length to breadth balance. Expressive large eyes slightly obliquely set. Uniform width nose with slight concave curve in profile. I loved the strength of his muzzle and chin. In super condition and so well shown. A real sweetie.

AC BIRMAN NEUTER part A

1 HARRIS GR PR SNOWWITCH MENTOBE NKOSI 13c1 28.5.06

Very mature exhibit with strong, broad skull that was well rounded. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Full cheeks that tapered to a strong muzzle. Medium size ears that were spaced well apart on his skull. Almost round eyes that were a sound blue in colour. Large, long body with lovely substance and excellent boning to his medium length legs. Short, strong paws. Bushy tail that was in proportion to his body. His coat was long and silky in texture with a full ruff, beige in colour with the desired golden hue over his shoulders and down his back. Dense seal points that were matching well. His gloves were white to just below the angle of paw and leg and very slightly dipping to the inside. White socks covering the whole of his back paws. His gauntlets were white reaching ¾ of the way up his hocks, matching and slightly tapering. Very well shown and very sweet to handle.

2 CALDWELLS UK GR PR CALLOUI ENRICO 13c2 30.4.06

I was also very taken with this lovely neuter! Another mature exhibit with a strong, broad and rounded skull. Medium length nose with a slight dip but showing just a slight tendency to a roman nose in profile. Full, rounded cheeks tapering to a strong well developed muzzle and chin. Medium sized ears well set apart on his skull. Almost round medium blue eyes. Long, well filled body with lovely substance. Medium length legs that were well boned and short, strong paws. Bushy tail that was in proportion to his body. Silky coat that was well groomed and with a full ruff. His body colouring was bluish white against very well matching blue-grey points. His white gloves were almost to the angle between paw and leg, white socks covering the whole of the back paws and his gauntlets were to ¾ up his hocks and very nicely matching. The slightly better profile on Nkosi was my deciding factor in my placings.

 3 PIDGLEYS DEENLAY DAYDREAMER 13c1 10.5.09

A real youngster in this class but one that I really liked and was placed third in very strong company! Very promising youngster with nice breath to his skull with medium length nose with a slight dip in profile. Full cheeks tapering to a firm chin and muzzle. Medium sized ears that were nicely set apart on his head. I am sure that his whole head with broaden further as he matures. Almost round eyes of a strong blue colour. Long body with nice substance developing, not yet the full development of the older boys. Medium length legs with lovely boning and short, strong paws. Bushy tail that balanced his body very well. Super silky coat of nice beige tone with the golden hue over his shoulders. His points were developing the density of seal tone, with some slight brindling on his mask and tail as yet. His gloves were white almost to the crease of paw and leg and dipping very slightly to the inner side. White socks covering his back paws and his gauntlets were white to ¾ up his hocks they tapered slightly but the right was slightly narrower than the left. Beautifully shown and so sweet to handle. He just needs to mature in his head and frame to fulfil his considerable promise. A lovely young man

AC BIRMAN NEUTER part B

1 WARDLES GR PR LUNABLEU CRÈME BRULEE 13c1 FN 15.9.06

An opinionated lady with lots to say but one of great style! Very lovely head and type, with broad, rounded skull. Medium ears nicely set apart on her head. Medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Her cheeks were full and tapered well to a well developed muzzle and firm chin. Almost round deep blue eyes. Her body was long and with wonderful substance. Medium length legs with good boning. Her paws were short and strong. Bushy tail that was in proportion to her body length. Her coat was silky in texture and a lovely tone of pale beige with the desired golden hue over her shoulders offsetting the dense seal brown points that matched so well. Her feet markings were also very nicely matched with the gloves white to the angle between paw and leg, the left one with white to the stopper pad but not beyond. Her socks matched covering her back paws and her gauntlets tapered up the back of her legs to just below the point of her hocks. Very well shown.

2 BLATHERWICKS PR KYNOBI LUCUS 13c2 MN 8.8.08

Another very attractive exhibit. Lucus had a strong, broad skull with medium sized ears well set being nicely spaced apart on his broad head. Medium length nose with a slight dip in profile and full cheeks that tapered to a firm muzzle and chin. Almost round eyes that were a sound, mid blue in colour. Long body with lovely weight and tone, medium length limbs with strong, short paws. Bushy tail in proportion to his body length. Silky bluish white coat that was well shown and had a nice ruff and his blue grey points were all well matched. His gloves dipped slightly to the inside, his white socks covered the entire back paws and his gauntlets were matching, tapering up the back of his leg to approximately ¾ of the length towards his point of hock. Very well shown exhibit.
