MAINE COON BREED SOCIETY SHOW 25TH JULY 2009

JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E ALLEN
My thanks to Carol and the club for their kind invitation to judge again at the show this year. I was ably assisted by Ann Jones and Lucy Lockyer which was a really pleasant and unexpected surprise so thanks girls for stepping in to help!! I would also like to say a huge thank you to Ron and his helpers for the wonderful lunch and again to Carol and Ron for their hospitality. I was also delighted with my goodie bag thanks for such a thoughtful gift. I do hope that more people will consider supporting the club next year it was very sad to see entries so low and they so deserve support for their first sanction show.

AC MAINE COON PREMIER MALE

1 GR PR BUNCES CH & GR PR KEVERSTONE HANSEL 6.9.2000
Mature neuter who it was so good to see again and who was in superb condition. Very good head type with great width to length balance. Large ears well set on his skull and with very good furnishings. Large, expressive slightly oriental set eyes of a lovely hazel colour. Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve to profile and with super depth of chin giving lovely balance. Lovely squareness ofmuzzle. Super long, well filled deep frame with long tail to balance. Super quality boning of his substantial legs with strong rounded and tufted paws. He was very well shown, just his coat being as one would expect short for the season and with the patterning a little diffused but still retaining the classic tabby patterning. Wonderful condition and so well loved he positively glowed!!

AC MAINE COON PREMIER FEMALE

1 GR PR HAYNES UK IMP GR PR DAIRYMAINE EMILY 64 20 5.5.2003
This girl is just mouthwatering!! I admired her greatly last year and it was lovely to see her again looking just a magnificent and with such style and panache. She is just the most beautiful example of the breed with everything about her head and type in balance large, well set ears, expressive large, slightly oval eyes. Width to length head in total balance. Excellent profile with a shallow concave curve to nose and amazing strength to her muzzle and chin. Massive frame deep and well filled but yet not fat just superbly conditioned and toned. Massive boning, long legs and round, strong tufted paws. Long well furnished tail to balance her body. Her coat was long and so well presented and with that lovely silky feel to the top coat. Groomed to perfection. It was truly my pleasure to give her my vote for best female neuter on the day.

Another really stylish cat who also has a massive amount of quality and good features but my deciding factors in the placings was that Emily just had the edge on balance of head type and clarify of patterning on the day. Just a little bit touchy when put back in her pen!

RED TABBY SERIES WITHOUT WHITE ADULT MALE

1 BOB CLAYSONS LYNDONGRAEY THE SURVIVOR 64 41d 20.6.08
Very impressive young male with large ears nicely furnished. Well spaced on his head. Nice width with high cheek bones and with the length giving good overall balance. Large, expressive slightly obliquely set eyes. Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve in profile and with very nice perpendicular line to his chin. Very nice squareness to his muzzle. Long well filled body with long limbs, nicely boned and with round, strong paws. Very well shown coat with rich red classic tabby patterning. A little seasonal in the coat length but the texture and quality were very nice.

RED TABBY SERIES WITHOUT WHITE ADULT FEMALE (INC TORTIE)

1 SKINNERS TANZACOON TABBY ROAD 64 41D 26.6.08
Sweet young lady who was very nervous but handled quite well. Nicely proportioned head with large ears well set and nicely tufted and tipped. Promising width to head with high cheeks. Decent length of head to balance with nice chin and squareness of muzzle. Long body and tail ( rather tense at the end). Again rich red classic tabby patterning and well shown.

RED TABBY WITH WHITE KITTEN FEMALE (INC TORTIE TABBIES) 14 WEEKS TO 6 MONTHS

1 BOB HERKES MABALAKAT CLARICE CLIFF 64 41ew
A very collectable artist and aptly named eye catching kitten!! Very sweet young lady with a most appealing expression with considerable promise as well! Large high set ears with super furnishings. Wide high cheeks with nice balance with her overall head length. Expressive large eyes slightly obliquely set. Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve in profile, chin developing as is her squareness of muzzle but she was teething on the day! Long body with tail long to balance. Very well shown nice texture and length to her coat. Good strong colours developing and a little sweetie to handle.

AC DEBUTANTE ADULT

1 NICHOLLS MABALAKAT CLEOPATRA 64 41esw
I just loved this exhibit and her attitude to it all!! Superior female with very nice head and balance, large high set ears with desired width between them and with lovely furnishings. Expressive large eyes slightly oval set and with such a knowing look! Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve in profile and a lovely line to her strong chin. Lovely square muzzle. Substantial frame with nice deep chest and body and with long,, well boned legs and strong round paws. Long tail with great furnishings. Very well shown coat that although was not overly long had a nice ruff and super length to flanks and hind limbs. Beautiful silver colouring with the most attractive tortie patterning. A real picture.

AC KITTEN WITH THE LONGEST WHISKERS

1 MABALAKAT CLARICE CLIFF 64 41ew

AC BREEDERS NEUTER MALE

1 CANNELLS MABALAKAT WOLFMAN JACK 64 41sw
Such an eye catching exhibit with the most delightful personality as well!! Large ears with the most exaggerated ear tufts that I think I have ever seen!! For me his ears are a little wide set but he can lift them well when he feels like it! Expressive eyes of great size and set. Great nose with desired shallow concave curve in profile and a very lovely square muzzle and good depth of chin. Large, long body and tail with glorious boning and strong round paws. Such a clear silver colouring with super definition to the patterning and groomed to perfection. A complete gent to handle!!

AC BREEDERS NEUTER FEMALE

HEIDI MEMORIAL CLASS

BROWN TORTIE TABBY AND WHITE ADULT, KITTEN OR NEUTER

I was very touched to be judging this class as Heidi herself was always one of my favourite Maine Coons from when I was first associated with the breed and she always gave me much pleasure when I was lucky enough to judge her.
1 ELSONS CH & I GR PR COONFLAKES LEGENDOFTHEFALL 64 31et
A most worthy winner.
