PRESTON AND BLACKPOOL CAT CLUB SHOW 28TH MARCH 2009

JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E. ALLEN

Well done to Jacky and the show team for a really enjoyable show again this year. I had a really great time with some super quality felines and super quality steward in the guise of Lesley Muffett!! I am so grateful to her for steering me through a busy day and for getting me on the long journey home at a respectable time!! Thanks Lesley, looking forward to next year already.

AC PERSIAN SELF PREMIER MALE

GR PR JOHNSTONS GR PR SSAFASTEC THUNDER 3

Attractive exhibit with lovely top of head and quite neat ears. Round orange eyes. Short, broad nose with nice cheeks, bite and chin. Cobby well filled frame with short, well boned limbs. Short, full tail. His coat was well shown, just the slight staining on his bib spoilt the overall look but overall he was well worthy of his grand premier award.

AC PERSIAN NON SELF PREMIER MALE

GR PR BAYLISS PR TAMOSAH FADE TOGREY 53a

I really liked this exhibit and was pleased to give him the grand premier on the day. Very nicely balanced head with broad tip and well spaced neat ears. Round eyes that were of a good sound orange in colour and nice size. Short, broad nose with fat cheeks. Good bite and chin. Large, cobby frame with lovely body weight. Short tail. I thought his coat colouring was really excellent, such a great example of this difficult breed and he was very well shown.

RES GR PR EDWARDS GR CH & GR PR ANTALYA PHOENIX RISING 12a5

Very mature exhibit wit wonderful top of head and neat, low set ears. Round eyes of adequate colour ( may well have faded a little as he is now nearly 8 years of age). Short nose with nice bite and chin. Huge frame with excellent weight. Short legs and tail. Mainly red in colouring with small amount of white to face, limbs and underneath. He really did need just a little more show preparation to do him total justice but a real softee to handle and great to see him.

AC TABBY BI OR TRI COLOUR ADULT INTERMEDIATE

1 IC THORBURNS RIASCATZ DREAM LOVER 12a5t

I was delighted to give this lad an IC. Very impressive young man with wonderful Persian head and type. Broad top with well spaced quite neat ears. Excellent copper eyes that were a struggle to get him to open at first! Short nose with wide cheeks. Good bite and firm chin. His body was perhaps a little on the long side but I would put this down to his age of 13 months, and I am sure as he matures he will body up further and this will become more balanced. Tail in proportion to his frame with full furnishings. His coat was high percentage of white with red tabby patches to his head, fully coloured tail and small patch of colour on his back. Very well shown and a real advantage to this developing breed.

TORTOISESHELL COLOURPOINT ADULT

1 CC BOB SHORTS TILSIE ONLYTHELONELY 13b6

I did debate for a while about awarding the CC to this young lady however she did have several very nice points about her thus tipping the balance in her favour! Nicely balanced head with good eye shape, the colour on the pale side as yet. Short nose with wide, fat cheeks. Nice bite and reasonable chin to balance. Quite a cobby body and short tail to balance with short, well boned limbs. Her points colouring hopefully still developing and I would like to see more red in the points throughout. Pleasing body colouring and very well shown.

TABBY COLOURPOINT NEUTER

1 PR MARKS NIROKE ROMEO 13b15

This young neuter is a very promising exhibit who needs to be better presented to really do him full justice and I was really pleased to be able to talk to his new Mum after judging to talk through a few thoughts! Very nicely balanced head and type with broad top and quite neat ears. Round eyes with a sound blue developing. Short nose with full leather and good sized nostrils. Good bite and chin. Cobby frame with short limbs, nicely boned. Short tail that was nicely ringed and furnished. His points colouring was developing well on his face and ears, his legs still to develop further. With more attention to his grooming I think this young man will do really well.

AOC MAINE COON ADULT MALE

1 CC BOB MILLIGANS LONO TILI *PL 64/41d

Massive male of only 14 months of age so still with plenty of time to develop further! Large ears that he was holding slightly lower than I would like but was persuaded to lift them into a more pleasing position! Super tufts and tips. Nice head balance with good ratio between width and length. High cheeks and a nicely squared muzzle. Shallow concave curve to profile, just a slight bump. Good perpendicular line form tip of nose to chin. Really enormous frame with long body and tail in proportion. Massive limbs with excellent boning and strong, round tufted paws. His coat was a little greasy but this can be such a problem for reds at this time of the year! Classic patterning evident. Longer coat around ruff, with decent breeches and tummy fur.

AOC MAINE COON ADULT FEMALE

1 CC W/H BRYANTS MIGATOBONITO SNOW ANGEL 64/44g

12 month old female who was on full call! For me overall she did not show the desired balance of head type. Large ears that were nicely set on her head, for me she just did not have the width of head neither did she cheeks not strength of muzzle. Her eyes were rather round and bold which calling may not have helped. Long body and tail but her coat lacked preparation.

2 withheld

3 SPENCE AND RUSTS KASSARO EBONNYNIVORRY 64/22 9 months 3 weeks

Sorry to withhold second place on this exhibit but sadly she has a tail fault that was confirmed by the duty vet.

AOC MAINE COON KITTEN MALE

1 JULESCOON FLAMING GORDON 64/41dw 20 weeks

A promising young man with plenty of substance about him already! Nice head type developing with large ears set high and apart on his head. Promising tufts and tips developing. High cheek bones with uniform nose displaying shallow concave curve in the profile. Very nice perpendicular line from nose tip to chin for such a baby. Very pleasing square muzzle. Long body and frame with very nice boning and round, strong tufted paws. Classic tabby patterning developing nicely as is the coat length and texture. Well shown.

AOC MAINE COON KITTEN FEMALE

1 BOB BRYANTS MIGATOBONITO ROXXY MUSIK 64/44ew

Stylish female of 61/2 months. Very nice head type with good width to length balance. Large well set ears with nice tufts and tips. Large, slightly obliquely set eyes of lovely tone. High cheeks with very promising muzzle developing. Just teething at the present time but with nice depth of chin even so and with shallow concave curve to her nose. Long body and tail that was nicely furnished. Her coat was very well presented and consisting of lovely glossy top coat and considerable density to the undercoat. In all a very nicely balanced young lady!

2 MILLIGANS WESTLAKES TOPAZ 64/41gw

8 month old female who was a little too fine in the head shape as yet. Perhaps as she matures she will broaden out to bring it all more into balance. Very nice ears that were well set and large in size with super furnishings. Expressive eyes that were nicely set. Needing more width to her cheeks and top of head. Her profile was also a little straight and needing more squareness to her muzzle. Long body with nice long, well furnished tail. Quite a thick coat with glossy top coat but with the tabby patterning very diffused at the present time.

AC SILVER SOMALI NEUTER

1 PR BOB RUSSELLS SUPATOFT SILVER SUNRISE 63as 11 months

I really liked this young neuters expression, he really did have that sunny disposition and real Somali smile! Super rounded gentle curving contours to his head with good high forehead. Large ears nicely cupped on his head. Expressive eyes that were almond in shape and we nicely outlined with darker surround then spectacles very evident. Very slight nose break and firm chin. Elegant neck. Long legs and oval paws that were nicely tufted. His body could have been a little more elegant as I felt he was a little on the round size and this just detracted a little from the overall appearance. His coat was really very nice, being soft and fine – lying flat along his spine with definite ruff and breeches. Super ticking with the cinnamon ticking making such a lovely contrast to the silver undercoat. Very minimal tarnishing on his front feet. Well coloured heels. Very well shown and a really lovely boy to handle.

BROWN/ BLUE TABBY AND WHITE MAINE COON NEUTER

FOR BOB ONLY

I had four lovely neuters to consider for BOB my decision went to

BURGESS GR PR ROCKOON STARGIRL 64/31t

– she was looking extremely lovely in full coat and just looked the part on the day. Congratulations.

SELKIRK REX ADULT INTERMEDIATE

1 IC CREATON AND WALKERS CURLU NATE 79L15

A very young man at present but already with considerable qualities. Very pleasing head type being round and broad with full cheeks. Curved top of head with medium ears set nicely into the contours. Large expressive orange eyes wet well apart. His nose was short and with that slight downward slant. Firm chin that balanced his head well. Level bite. Super body, cobby with lovely musculed feeling. Medium length limbs with round, firm paws. Medium, thick tail slightly thicker at the base and with rounded tip. The most wonderful semi-long coat that was carrying really lovely tousled and randomly curled very well presented. So sweet to handle as well.

PERSIAN NOVICE CAT

1 MORRIS HEATHROSE MERIDIAN CHASE 6e

Very appealing little girl of 10 months. Gorgeous expression with nicely balanced head and type. Super colourings and contrasts. Very well shown.

2 OAKES J ENZJEWELS ZACHARIE 1

Very promising young 10 month old male. Perhaps just a tad adolescent looking at the moment. His ears need to neaten and his body stature wise needs to cobby up more. Lovely expression, I would just have liked those lovely large eyes a deeper shade of orange.

3 HALLIDAY DALLIHAY ARTICGEM 53

AC EX SELF PERSIAN NEUTER

1 WHITES I GR CH & I GR PR MARDIGRAS THECANDY MANCAN 12a7

Far too well know to need much more description from yours truly. He looked absolutely magnificent on the day with a wealth of coat and he behaved like the seasoned campaigner he is!

2 BRIDGES GR PR HIGHSPOT GELLIBABY 6f

Another lovely cat who I have handled several times over the years and she is looking really very nice with very good balanced head and with really lovely contrasts for a cream smoke. I do like her and hard lines to come up against Candy.

AV SLH MALE CAT NOT BRED BY EXHIBITOR

1 CAMPBELLS GR CH DOTCOM LESTER 64/41w

I really fell for this lovely exhibit. For me he has really refined and nicely balanced head and type. Super large well set ears that were nicely furnished. Quite large, slightly obliquely set eyes that were so expressive. Super high cheek bones and lovely width to length balance. Shallow concave curve to profile and with really straight perpendicular line from nose tip to chin. The most lovely squareness to profile. Huge frame that was long and so well filled. Long powerful limbs and strong round paws. Long well furnished tail. His coat was long with a super ruff and lovely breeches. His coat was really thick with glossy overlaying to coat. So well shown and a delight to handle.

2 JONES UK & IMP GR CH SILKIESTAR RAPHAEL 66/31

I did debate for a while between this super boy and the winner as he too has such lovely features. Super flat plane with nicely set medium sized ears. Very nice breadth to his face with well developed cheeks and rounded muzzle and firm chin. Medium length nose with gentle dip and lovely profile giving that retrousse look. Large, expressive eyes of nice deep shade of blue. Long well muscled body with broad chest and short neck. Medium length legs that were well boned. Large, round paws. Long bushy tailslightly tapering to the tip. Silky texture coat that was medium in length and with some ruff and knickerbockers. Very well shown. My deciding factor was that Lester just had the edge on coat and as they were both of excellent type that was my deciding factor.

3 HOWARDS NOYNAROCK AUGUSTO 67/31 10 months 2 weeks

For his age this young male was incredibly well grown with wonderful boning and condition. Equilateral head shape with large ears with good width at the base and well spaced apart on his head, following the lines of his head shape from his nose. Long straight profile from nose to forehead. Fairly large eyes that were obliquely set, I would prefer them a little larger to balance his face. Nice firm chin to complete his head balance. Super physique with long and muscular frame and strongly build limbs, slightly longer hind legs with round, tufted paws. Long tail that was well furnished. His coat was woolly and thick with true double texture and slightly harsher guard hairs. In good coat with full ruff and considerable knickerbockers! Well shown and very nice to handle.

AV SLH FEMALE CAT NOT BRED BY EXHIBITOR two very stylish females.

1 KAPLAN GR CH BAYGAZER KLAWNIQUEKATARINA 13c2 2 years 7 months

Very attractive female with super birman type. Strong, broad and round skull with medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Full cheeks and nicely developed muzzle. Medium sized ears spaced well apart on her head. Almost round very expressive eyes of deep blue. Chin balances her features nicely. Long body with very nice body weight. Medium length legs that were nicely boned. Strong, short paws. Her tail was nicely in proportion to her body and well furnished. Very well show coat that was silky in texture with a nicely developed ruff. Her points were well developed blue/grey in colour and her body colouring was correct blueish white with a little shading across her shoulders. Her front paws were very well marked with the left glove being just slightly below the angle formed by the paw and leg. Her back paws the white covered the entire paw and her gauntlets were very even and tapered up the back of the leg to ¾ up the hock. She was shown in excellent condition and was lovely to handle.

2 POOLS DALTEEMA STARDUST 13c6 9 months 3 weeks

A much younger female with considerable quality, displaying very nice birman type. Well rounded broad skull with medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Full, round cheeks and nicely developed muzzle and adequate chin to balance. Medium sized ears that were spaced well apart on her head. Super almost round eyes that were a sound strong blue in colour. Quite a long, large body for her age with well boned limbs, medium in length and with short, rounded paws. Her tail was nice and bushy and proportionate to her body. Nice length silky coat with quite a full ruff and nice length and texture elsewhere. Her points colouring was seal brown intermingled with shades of both light and dark red, the colouring best developed on her face and tail. On one hind limb there was one area of very pale almost cream that I gave her the benefit of the doubt on the day. Nicely toned fawn body colouring. Her front paws were well marked with virtually symmetrical gloves her back paws were pure white socks and with gauntlets tapering up her back leg to ¾ of the way to the point of hock. Very well shown indeed but the first placed exhibit had the edge on maturity.

AC SOMALI NEUTER

1 SUPATORFT SILVER SUNRISE

AV SLH NOVICE NEUTER

1 WAREINGS NORGESKAUKATT TORSTEIN 67/20 9 months 4 weeks

Another very well grown young man with excellent boning and stance. Triangular shaped head with all sides even and large, well furnished ears set nicely on his head. Long almost straight profile with rather a broad parallel nose bridge which slightly detracted from the overall balance of his head. Firm chin. Fairly good sized eyes that were not as oval in shape, being more rounded in shape. As he was also puffing out his whisker pads I did wonder if he was not quite as relaxed as he tried to make out! Excellent physique with long body that was really well musculed with strong frame and long well boned limbs. Strong rounded paws with super tufted toes. Long well furnished tail that reached to his shoulders. Very woolly, thick undercoat with glossy slightly harsher top coat that was very well shown.

AV SLH LIMIT NEUTER

1 SAVILLE & PEAKES DIZZIPAWS KRUG 66

Promising 18 month old exhibit with very pleasing overall appearance and balance. Super flat plane with medium ears set well apart and slightly forward facing. Nice eyes for shape and set, I would have liked them a little deeper in blue. Medium length nose with gentle dip in profile. Firm chin. Nice muzzle that was well developed and nicely rounded. Good well muscled frame with medium length well boned limbs. Long tail that was well furnished and slightly tapered towards the tip. Well shown silky coat, just a bit tetchy when we handled him but overall a very pleasing young man.

AC SELKIRK REX NEUTER

1 BUCKS CURLU OSCAR 79L 40/7

This young man, has a really very nice rounded broad head with very pleasing forehead and curved top of head. Medium sized ears that were set nicely into the contours of his head. Expressive eyes that were round and large. Short, broad nose with slightly downward tilt. Super muzzle with well padded whisker pads. Lovely broken curly whiskers. Firm chin. Stocky, cobby frame with medium length and substantial limbs and paws. Medium length tail with a rounded tip. His coat was what one is looking for, semi long with random, tousled curls. So well shown and great to handle.

2 CREATON AND WALKERS CRINKLES JACK FROST 79L 15d

I do like this more mature exhibit as well, there was very little to choose between them but his coat was not as well developed at the moment, I should imagine that he had been moulting. Super head and type and very sweet to handle.
