 1. What is Your Name? Perri Hutchison

2. How Long have you been a GCCF Judge? Since 2000

3. What Sections are you a full judge in? Burmese

4. Are you a probationer judge in any sections and if so which ones? Asian Group Oriental Self Oriental Non Self Oriental Longhair

5. What made you interested in becoming a judge? I began stewarding at the age of 16 for Joyce Green and Ronnie Brooks. I learnt so much from my two mentors, and it was their love of Burmese, that made me want to become a judge.

6. Do you breed cats as well and if so which breed(s)? Burmese – Prefix Irrep

7. Do you show your cat(s)? Yes

8. If you could give one tip to aspiring / new judges or stewards, what would it be ? Make the commitment to be a judge and enjoy it to the max. It is an honour that people show under you and value your opinion.

9. Do you have a ‘Day Job’ and if so, what is it?? I am a Practice Manager to a GP Surgery in East London. I work with Dr Jane Muir-Taylor who owns Monty – Supreme winner 2007. Jane and I met in 1991 when she owned my siamese’s brother, and we used to show side by side. We became good friends and in 1999 I went to work with her.

10. What are your favourite Hobbies outside of Cat Showing? Dancing, clubbing, reading, travelling

11. Which Cat Show Venue does the Best Lunch? Yorkshire Cat Club at the Dome Doncaster, and National Cat Club at Bracknell this year (2008)

12. Best cat show moment? When my Amy (Gr Ch Irrep Amondi) won Best of Variety Kitten at the Supreme 2006 and she was runner up overall best kitten, and when she made GR CH at the Kentish 08

13. Worst cat show moment? When i first slipped my disc in my back and had a judging engagement – never thought I would get through my day because of the pain.

14. Funniest Cat Show Moment? Dressing up as Tinkerbelle Judge for the Burmese Cat Club Show!

15. Scariest Cat Show Moment? Watching Amy being runner up to Best Kitten at the Supreme 2006

 16. Best Part of the Cat Show Day? Start of judging

17. Favourite Cat Show Venue? Wood Green Animal Shelter, Huntingdon

18. Favourite Cat Breed? Burmese though Bombays are a close second!

19. Winter or Summer Cat Shows? Summer

20. Any other animals/pets ? No

 21. What part of judging do you enjoy the most? I enjoy every part of judging. It is an honour to judge people’s fabulous cats, we get to cuddle and kiss them all day long and I enjoy writing up my critiques for the owners.

 22. Can you Recall ever loving a cat or Kitten at a show so much you wanted to put it in your pocket and take it home? If so who and at which show? Yes It was Viv Rice’s Bombay kitten Corvus Intrepid at the Asian Show in 2006. But having said that I usually manage to have one cat or kitten at a show that stands out from the rest. Its a good job my pocket is too small!!
