KERNOW & SOUTH WEST BRITISH SHORTHAIR CAT CLUB SHOWS

Saturday 2nd April 2011

Judge: Charis White My thanks to Karen Kempsell who gave me her company on the day, as my steward. We have not met up for a while so it was a real pleasure to work together again. Thanks for your hard work and enthusiasm, Karen. I hope we can meet up again soon.

KERNOW CAT CLUB SHOW

BRITISH BLUE ADULT

BOB – SIMMONS’ CH PAMPURRED PRIVATEER – male

MALE

CC – BROWN’S KOLINGA GENESIS

11/06/10 A shy but sweet cat who is just an adult by a couple of weeks. He has a medium sized cobby proportionate frame with lovely bone to legs and paws, and a body which is broadening and deepening well. He has a thick tail of good length with rounded tip. Lovely rounded head with cheeks which are filling out well. Ears are well spaced with width between, and fit the contours of his head. Round gold eyes – I gave him the benefit of the doubt on a slight residual green rim because if it did exist at all, it came and went in the light. Short broad nose, level bite, chin still needs to firm. His coat is a little long and soft but it has good density and the blue, which just fades slightly at the roots, is of a lovely medium powder blue. The other good news is that he has no silver tipping. A promising boy.

FEMALE

CC – BOWMAN’S WILLOWOOD BLUEPAWZ CLIO

18/06/09 She is still in the middle of her development to maturity and is of fairly good weight and balance for her age. She has good bone to legs and paws and a fair depth and breadth to her body. Tail balances for length and shape. Round head with ears which are a little upright in set and open at the bases. Glorious round deep orange eyes. Short broad nose, level bite and very firm chin. She still looks a little youthful as she has a very strong muzzle at the moment. Her coat is short, dense and crisp, the medium blue is fairly sound, but just has a slight hint of silver tipping on the surface in a few places. Good condition.

2ND – FAWCETT’S MARKSHIR KATE

26/04/09 She has a neat balanced frame – again she is not yet fully mature – but she just needs the weight and solid feel to go with it –calling maybe? She is well proportioned and stands on short legs with neat paws. Tail is a fraction short and it tapers at the tip. Round head of reasonable width with cheeks developing well – her ears are just rather tall and upright in set for balance as yet. Broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Her coat is dense and crisp, fairly short. The medium blue is sound – again she just has a little darker shading near the surface and a hint of silver tipping in places.

3RD – ACTON’S IDLEBECK ELIZA DOLITTLE

18/02/08 She is over three years old and although she is of good size and proportionate weight, she is still quite rangy in body –it needs breadth and depth; legs are well boned with neat paws, and balanced tail. She has a neat round head with slightly open ears which need a bit more width between. Round eyes are of a very pale gold, with a slight intermittent green tone. Good profile and level bite, firm chin. Her coat is very dense and of good texture, just a little long. The medium blue fades at the roots and shows some silver tipping across the surface.

4TH – BURFORD’S KAROWBIST YUM YUM

06/06/10 Just an adult and she also needs it all to come together. Again she is quite rangy in body, and stands a little tall on her legs, which have neat round paws. Her weight is fine for her development. Tail balances to body but just has a slightly tapered tip. She looks young as yet with a rather narrow head and a pinched muzzle, and her cheeks have yet to fill out. Ears are rather large and open at the bases, set a little upright. Deep set gold eyes are round and well spaced. Short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Her coat is dense but on the longer side. The colour is a rather deep blue, but sound and un-silvered. She was rather nervous today and is obviously a slow developer.

BRITISH CREAM ADULT, MALE

CC, BOB – STEELE’S JALANDHARA SIMON SAYS

24/02/10 A young adult who has yet to mature. He is of good weight but needs depth and breadth to his body. Lovely strong bone to legs and paws and he has a medium length tail with slightly tapered tip. His head is neat and round but lacks breadth as yet and he is still developing the masculine look. Good shape and size to ears which are developing the width between. Pleasing expression to round orange eyes. Short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. He has a dense crisp coat of quite good length. It is rather ‘busy’ at the moment! The cream fades on his flanks but is quite warm down the spinal area and he still shows quite a degree of ghost pattern across his body and heavy hot cream rings on his tail. The colour generally just fades at the roots a little. He is obviously a work in progress but has a lovely temperament.

AOC BRITISH ADULT FEMALE

1ST, CC/BOB withheld – OUTIBRIDGE’S’S BUMPKIN MISS-MUFFET – Blue Spotted

09/07/09 A lovely weighty female of good bone and development. Her slightly long but deep body stands on lovely thick legs with large round paws and she has a thick tail with rounded tip – it just needs to be longer for balance. Super head – she has a slightly square muzzle but it does not detract and she has lovely type and roundness with full cheeks. Her ears are well spaced but don’t quite settle into the contours. Round pale orange eyes, broad nose, acceptable scissor bite and firm chin. Her coat is fairly short and very dense and crisp. Where evident, the ground colour is a lovely bluish fawn. However, although she has good facial markings of deep blue with necklaces, a spotty tummy and leg barring, across her upper body the pattern loses a lot of clarity – although a lot of linkage of the spots on her sides is still evident, leaving few clear spots. The ground colour is also rather lost and there is a distinctive silvery overlay to the whole coat which adds to the confusion of pattern and colour. A real pity - and my reason for withholding the Certificate – as she is a very pretty cat with some lovely qualities.

BRITISH VISITOR’S ADULT

1ST - BOWMAN’S WILLOWOOD BLUEPAWZ CLIO – Blue female

2ND - STEELE’S JALANDHARA SIMON SAYS - Cream male

3RD – DAVIS’ KHANCOBAN SILVER SCREEN – Black Silver Spotted female
