LANCS CC Show – 13th March 2010. Report by Mrs. Dorothy A STONE

Sincere thanks to Chris, Janet and team for inviting me back again to judge at this lovely friendly, well run show in its super venue with lighting that displays the exhibits in all their glory. The gate seemed excellent too with excited and interested visitors asking some sensible questions. I had a lovely time and with my wonderful husband Colin stewarding for me for a change, what more could a girl desire?! Oh yes – fab exhibits and I had those aplenty, so many thanks to one and all.

AC SIBERIAN ADULT, KITTEN or NEUTER ASSESSMENT.

3 present.

What a thrill it was to have Siberians to assess again after so long – where have they been hiding?! Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced my hard copies so it was a good job that the exhibitors had their reports on the day. My profound apologies to anyone else who had hoped to read them.

Merit to McCALLUM’s SILKIESTAR SILVER FOX. 82 18d Female. 11 months.

Really promising lass of very good type, substantial boning and correct medium length coat. I look forward to seeing her again when fully mature. Merits not awarded to the under mentioned neither of who ticked enough boxes to justify the awards on the day I’m afraid :

McCALLUM’s SILKIESTAR AMAZING GTACE. 82 22a Female.

12 months.

No. 125a. 82 18, FN. 21 months. Sorry, I can find no reference to this lady or her connections anywhere in the catalogue.

BURMESE Imperial Grand Premier.

3 FN’s present.

IGPC WIGGLESWORTH’s Ch & Gd Pr ROSSIKHAN OBSESSION.

Choc. 7 yrs old today!Wonderful wedge & dome, well set and shaped ears could be fractionally smaller for perfection, superb right angled profile (tho’ her nose does have a tiny bump and rolls off just a bit), lovely deep level chin and level bite. Gorgeous Buttercup yellow eyes enhanced with “mascara” are of super size, shape and set have that fabulous ‘f-off or die’ expression! Balanced mature lady of very good size has well shaped weighty but muscular body, lissom limbs and well shaped tail balances. Sprayed-on style coat with satin texture & highly polished finish is of the most beautifully even gold-toned warm milk chocolate & has no noticeable contrast. I have coveted this girl (and her brother) since I first laid eyes on her & am delighted that she has fulfilled all her early promise. My compliments to her doting owner for presenting her so well – hope you were pleased with her birthday present!

Res TAYLOR’s Gd Pr RAWEKE CLEOPATRA.

Brown. Another birthday girl – 3 years old today! Short blunt wedge of very good width, gently rounded wide top of head, ears are well sized, shaped and set. Profile shows rounded brow and forehead, distinct break to aquiline nose that has a small bump, chin of good depth is set back slightly, bite is just level. Lovely large lustrous well set Primrose yellow eyes which she was rounding slightly in apprehension, but when returned to the safety of her pen were of correct shape with the required mean scowl! Mature lady has well shaped body that I’d like to see a little larger, more muscular and weightier for perfection, shapely legs, neat oval paws, broad based tail of good shape that I’d prefer slightly longer to balance. Close fitting coat with silky feel is of lovely warm seal brown and has a lovely healthy shine. Shown in good physical condition, this sweet but shy soul reminded me very much of my adored & greatly missed “Golly”. Unlucky to meet winner today.

USUAL ABYSSINIAN KITTEN.

1 present.

1st & BoB CHAPMAN’s WAVETAIL HATTIE.

Female. 7 mths, 3 wks. This girl really impressed me and I shall follow her career with interest. Moderate wedge set on an elegant arching well muscled neck has required rounded contours, gentle rounding and good width to top of head between ears, desired slight indentation forms rounded muzzle that show signs of a teething pinch still. Profile shows rounding from brow to top of head, required gentle break to nose that has brick coloured leather with a black outline, black lips, chin that could be slightly deeper recedes thus is not in a straight line with tip of nose, bite is level. Lovely large pricked ears with tufts and furry edges are set well apart thus follow line of wedge, are quite deeply cupped, have bright apricot coloured bases and when viewed from the back have darker tips. Lovely large lustrous expressive brilliant hazel eyes spaced well apart are outlined in black on the edges of the eyelids, have paler coloured “spectacle-like” surrounds, are obliquely set and are a rounded almond in shape. Elegant girl of good size has lithe muscular body with straight back, rounded ribcage, elegant legs are slim, well proportioned and muscled, neat oval paws have black pads and on her hind legs have a smudge of black up the heels towards the hocks, tapering tail has required thick base and solid black coloured tip but could be slightly longer. Super short, fine, dense and close-lying coat with healthy shine is of lovely warm golden brown with an apricot base colour, is distinctly & evenly ticked with black at the tip of the hair shafts with another band further down the shafts, she has a faint broken necklace, black lines from the inner corners of the eyes extend up to the top of the head and from the outer corners of the eyes to the edges of her ears, there is also a line of black that extends from the back of the head, along the dorsal area and down to the tip of her tail. Shown in splendid condition, this promising lassie was happier in her pen today.

ASIAN SMOKE or BURMILLA KITTEN.

1 present.

1st. CLAY’s XCHARDI MISS-TERIOUS.

Chocolate Tortie Silver BCR Burmilla Female. 6 mths, 3 wks.Short blunt wedge of good width showing a slight teething pinch today, top of head is wide & gently rounded. Profile shows rounding to brow & forehead, nose with dark pink leather rimmed with chocolate is slightly long but has an acceptable break, chin has depth but recedes thus is out of alignment with tip of nose, bite is mobile at present. Large broad based ears with rounded tips and forward tilt are set well apart thus continue line of wedge. Greenish-yellow eyes are slightly small and close-set, have a broader than average bridge of nose that detracts somewhat and the top line of the lids is straight lacking both the required slant towards the nose and the desired expression. Well grown lassie has well muscled body with straight back and rounded chest but is carrying too many pounds thus lacks the required elegance, slender muscular legs of medium boning and good length, oval paws have pink and chocolate pads, tapering tail is of medium thickness and good length thus balances body. Slightly long coat has good gloss but rather a harsh feel, milk chocolate with shades of red at the top of the hair shaft shades gradually down into the paler choc silver/red silver ground colour finishing with sparkling silver nearest the skin; some tabby pattern is evidenced in the classic ‘M’ shape on the forehead, chocolate outline to eyelids & tracings from the corners, paler spectacle-like surrounds to the eyes, solid milk chocolate tail tip, tail rings and legs bars. A healthy baby not enjoying her day who could have been a little better prepared and who would benefit from the loss of a pound or two.

2nd. MURPHY’s KALTES RHAPSODY INBLUE.

Blue Devon Rex. 18 mths, 3 wks.Short high cheek boned wedge set on an elegant well muscled neck could be slightly broader, good muzzle and whisker break, short stubbly whiskers and eyebrows. Profile shows rounding to brow, flat skull at forehead and between ears, stop to long nose needs more definition, shallow but level chin, level bite. Enormous wide based ears are well shaped and covered but set slightly high. Gorgeous green eyes have a wonderfully mischievous expression. Slender muscular body of good size and weight looks slightly long at present (phase of growth), good breadth to chest, stands tall on slim muscular legs, neat oval paws, lovely tail for shape and length is well covered and rexed. Super short fine dense coat covers body, limbs and tummy completely and is very well rexed in deep close waves. Fabulous huge jug ears with handles, tufts and muffs, are wide based but could be set slightly lower. Short fine dense coat covers body, undersides and limbs, rexing is still coming in. 1st. KEMP’s Gd Pr NATZKATZ IRISH-CREAM. 72 43 nsq. MN. 2 yrs, 10 mths.

Short blunt wedge of very good width, lovely wide gently rounded top of head, large ears with rounded tips, small tufts and forward tilt have required broad bases and are spaced well apart thus continue line of wedge. Profile shows rounded brow and forehead, distinct break to nose that has pink nose leather rimmed with chocolate, firm level chin and level bite. Lovely large well spaced yellow-chartreuse eyes outlined in chocolate, lower lids have required fuller more rounded curve but the upper lids are a little too straight lacking the required slight downward slant. Mature chap of very good size has straight back, rounded chest, is well muscled but carrying a trifle too many pounds currently thus appears a little inelegant, slender muscular legs of good length, neat oval paws, tail of good length tapers to a rounded tip. Really super short coat, fine, with satin texture and sheen, cool fawn markings with lilac overtones shades gradually down hair shafts to the muted silver undercoat. Tabby pattern is evidenced by ‘M’ shape on forehead; smudge of colour in corners of eyes, solid coloured tail tip, and colour on heels extends up towards hocks and some faint leg bars. Shown in very good condition, I really loved this adorable chap.

Profile shows rounded brow and forehead, distinct break, deep level chin, bite is a little untidy. Large lustrous gold eyes are well spaced apart, upper lids have the required slight slant towards the nose, lower lids are more generously curved thus producing the frowning expression typical of this Breed. Medium sized mature lady has weighty but muscular body with straight back and rounded chest, medium boned legs of good length are slim & well muscled, neat oval paws with black pads have lovely tufts between the toes, well shaped plume-like tail could be fractionally longer for perfection. Beautiful coat the colour of ebony and sound to the roots is quite long, fine, silky feeling, dense but lies flat along the spine and has a lovely healthy shine, a super ruff and full breeches. Groomed to perfection and shown in top physical condition this lady who was happier in her pen really wowed me – she just lost a point or two on her ears size and tail length. Gorgeous gold eyes have typical expression. Well grown girlie has well shaped and muscled body of good weight, shapely limbs, tail of good shape and length is rather fine. 2nd. McGREEVY’s KARLAC POLLYANNA.

Blue Female. 4 mths, 3 wks. Short wedge of good width showing a slight teething pinch today, gentle rounding to wide top of head, ears are well sized, shaped and set. Profile shows rounded brow and forehead, well defined break to slightly long nose, deep level chin, level bite. Well set and shaped eyes are yellow with a green pupil ring but should be larger and more lustrous. Well grown babe of good weight has muscular body with straight back, rounded chest, elegant well muscled legs, dainty spoon shaped paws, tail of good shape and length is rather thick. Still has her baby coat which is slightly long and fine just now, the colour is still developing thus at present it is a rather sandy hued grey rather than blue with some silvering on her nose only. A sweet soul shown in good condition.

Report ends. Dorothy A STONE.
