LINCOLNSHIRE & HUMBERSIDE CAT CLUB SHOWS SATURDAY 10TH JULY 2010 Judge: Charis White

Many thanks to Ruth Wehren who gave up a hot sunny day to steward for me. As always, we had a good day in each other’s company and Ruth handled the cats expertly, especially the ones who were feeling the heat on the day. Many thanks Ruth, I am always grateful for all your hard work and good company.

LINCOLNSHIRE BRITISH AOC SILVER TABBY ADULT

BOB – KIDD’S CH CATYKES EDWINSON

 Blue Silver male

1ST, CC WITHHELD - CHANCE’S CRAZIPUSS RED ADAIR

Red Silver male 23/05/09 Long rangy male of good weight and bone. He has strong sturdy legs and neat rounded paws. Balanced tail. Broad head with cheeks filling out. Ears are rather tall, but fairly well set. Round eyes with good expression and of a super shade of copper. Slightly long broad nose, level bite, chin still to firm. His coat is crisp but lacks density at the moment so it lies rather flat. The ground colour is rather variable – in some places it looked cream, and in others it did have a silvery tone, but there was very little ‘silvery near-white’ evident. At the moment he has good facial markings, spotty tummy and leg barring, with necklaces and a ringed tail. On his body the pattern is rather muddled, especially down his back where the spine lines are very diffused and spread into the ground colour so that they are virtually lost. Good temperament – perhaps he is a winter cat?

BRITISH RED/CREAM/TORTIE TABBY ADULT

1ST, CC WITHHELD - CLAYTON’S LOVEJOY RINALDO 28/05/08

I felt sorry for this boy as he seemed to be very nervous and hardly moved in his pen. I am sure that he would have preferred a spot away from the end of the row, and possibly somewhere cooler. He has a lean frame, rather narrow for his age and he lacks weight. Round head with well set but open ears. Round eyes are of lovely deep orange. Broad nose, level bite and firm chin. His coat appeared rather open and not in good condition and as a result, the pattern appearance was affected. He has rich red on paler red ground colour, but markings were not clear on his body and he did not want to be examined. Leg barring and good facial markings evident. Well ringed tail. Sweet cat. I know he picked up a CC on the day but I felt that he was not up to the Standard for the award and I also felt that he was not at all happy to be at the show. I hope he perks up.

BRITISH BROWN SPOTTED ADULT

CC, BOB – BARITOPHANIE REMBRANDT

male 25/06/09 Just over a year old and he is rangy and stands a little tall but has a good weighty muscular feel to him and there is good bone developing. Broad round head is just topped by large open ears, set a little upright and still tufted at the tips! Full cheeks. Super deep copper eyes – always nice to see on a Brown Spotted. Good profile and level bite. Dense crisp coat in good condition with a pleasing copper brown ground colour. He has a good pattern throughout with plenty of spots - the colour is fairly dense black but there is some agouti invasion bringing diffusion to the colour of the spots on his body. Well ringed tail with black tip.

AV BRITISH GRAND PREMIER MALE

IGPC – WALKER’S GR PR AMAZOLOU THE NEW SCHMOO

Selkirk Rex Shorthair 13/04/08 Super muscular male with a long rectangular body of good breadth and depth, standing on medium length solid legs with large firm paws. Medium length tail with rounded tip. Broad round head with good cheeks. Medium sized ears are set well apart and help the Selkirk look. Large round eyes with open expression. Broad nose with fair profile. Fairly well padded muzzle with curly and broken whiskers, level bite and firm chin. His coat is of uniform length throughout, standing out from his body and beautifully prepared. There is plenty of evidence of the rex gene with curls all over the body, even down his back where it can sometimes be lacking. The coat had a good density and a pleasing texture to it. Lovely temperament. When I saw who he was after judging, and think back to the last time I saw him 2 months ago, I am very impressed at the way he has improved – he has more of the Selkirk look now and his stature and power have really improved. Well worthy of this level of award now.

2ND, RES. IGPC WITHHELD - STAPLES’ GR PR CATYKES ALICES WONDERLAD

Blue Silver Spotted 13/04/08 A lovely mature strong cat, really well grown and well boned with broad deep body, good legs and paws and a tail which is just a fraction short for balance to his body. Fairly round head with good cheeks. Ears are large but well set. Large round eyes – the gold had a strong green rim, which was my reason for withholding. Broad nose, level bite and fairly firm chin. Short, fairly dense coat with a good pale silvery blue ground colour evident. Good pattern with pleasing facial markings and the ‘M’ on his forehead. He has several necklaces and a spotty tummy. Plenty of barring on his legs and rings to his tail. On his body there are clear spots, the spine line is broken but has a little solid shading overlaying them on his middle back, and there is some linkage of spots along his flanks. Lovely condition and temperament.

 FEMALE

IGPC - CHANDLER’S IGR PR KOLINGA BLUEBELLA

Blue-Cream 04/06/07 Very large, well grown weighty female with broad deep body, short strong legs and balanced tail. Broad round head with full cheeks and good width between her ears which are just a fraction open. Large round well opened eyes with a lovely expression. Short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Dense coat, short and crisp, in quite good condition for the time of year. The mingled blue and cream are of medium shades and are sound. She has at least three mingled paws that we could see, and the mingling was good throughout the coat.

RES. IGPC – MOORE’S GR PR VALPETINA SOLLITAIRE

Blue 05/12/03 Another impressive female who stood out from the crowd – it was very difficult to decide between these two. She has a lovely cobby balanced body and good conformation, with short sturdy legs and firm rounded paws. Tail balances to her body. Super round head with lovely top between well set, slightly open ears, and full cheeks. Round expressive orange eyes. Good profile and bite. Short crisp coat is really dense and only fades slightly to the medium blue near the roots. Minimal silvering in places. Well shown and good temperament. I know the places were reversed in the other Grand and this shows what excellent females these two are.

BRITISH BLACK SILVER NEUTER MALE PC,

 BOB – LINTIN-SAMITH’S KRESTA SILVER WIZARD 24/03/07

Weighty cobby male of good maturity with a broad deep body, short sturdy legs and firm rounded paws. Good tail for shape – it is a little short. . Broad head with good top between medium sized, very well furnished ears. Round expressive eyes of good colour. Full cheeks. Good profile level bite, chin could be a little firmer. Short dense coat with good contrast between the medium silver ground colour and the jet black pattern. Good butterfly and spine lines, oysters match. Clear ‘M’ on his forehead and lines and stripes run from his eyes and across his cheeks. Clear necklaces and spotty tummy. Ringed tail has a black tip.

2ND – TESSMER’S LIMATZ MEDDLING LOKI 13/08/09

An immature but promising boy – he has quite a compact frame and reasonable bone to legs and paws with good weight. Round head with rather large ears for balance at the moment. Super eyes for colour with a pleasing expression. Broad nose has a slight dip and bump in profile. Level bite, chin still to firm up. Crisp dense coat, with good contrast between pale silver ground colour and the pattern. He has good black facial markings and one clear necklace and a spotty tummy. Matched pattern on his body – he just has a lot of darker brindling on his back between the central line, and the stripes on either side. Lovely spotty toes – always good to see! Well ringed tail. Very sweet temperament and I hope he does well in the future.

FEMALE

PC - STAPLES’ LIMATZ AB-FAB 06/08/09

Neat compact female with a well rounded head. Medium sized ears are fairly well set – she just tended to bonnet them at times. Large round eyes – I gave her the benefit of the doubt of them being on the gold side of hazel and there was definitely a hint of a green tone. Good profile and level bite, fairly firm chin. The coat is a little flat lying but is fairly crisp and dense. She has a good black pattern which contrasted well with the medium silver ground. Good facial markings and lots of necklaces. Leg bars and spotty tummy. Good oysters and butterfly and clear spine lines. Spotty toes – hoorah! Well ringed tail.

 SELKIRK REX NEUTER

BOB - WALKER’S GR PR AMAZOLOU THE NEW SCHMOO

Red Tipped Shorthair male

PC - WALKER’S AMAZOLOU MISTER FANTASTIC

Red Smoke Longhair male 03/04/07 Well grown male with a balanced rectangular body, good strong medium length legs and firm paws. Broad head with full cheeks. Medium ears are very well set. Eyes could just be a fraction rounder for perfection. Good rounded profile and slant to the nose, bite and firm chin. Lovely semi long coat with good density and texture – it stands out from the body and has a plush feel. Plenty of random unstructured curls and waves across the coat, giving him a very pleasing appearance. Well plumed tail of correct length to balance to his body.

HUMBERSIDE BRITISH BLACK/CHOCOLATE/CINNAMON TORTIE ADULT

CC, BOB – CHANCE’S WELLMAR ANASTASIA

Black Tortie 10/09/09 Just about ten months and she looks it at the moment. She has a medium frame to her body, good depth but with time to fill out. Good legs for bone quality and firm round paws. Medium length tail with rounded tip. Her head is becoming rounded as her cheeks fill out, it just narrows to a youthful square muzzle at the moment. Ears are rather large for balance at present but they are well set. Large round gold eyes with a lovely cheeky expression. Broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Her coat is dense and crisp and fairly short. The colours are all fairly cool toned – some of the red shades could just be a little richer and more vibrant – but the mingling is developing well across the coat and she has mingled colours on all four paws with the colours sound to the roots. She is a work in progress but has a lovely character and plenty of time to fulfil her promise.

BRITISH BLUE-CREAM/LILAC/FAWN TORTIE ADULT

1ST, CC WITHHELD - FIGGINS’ HYSSOPUSS CASHMERE

Blue-Cream 15/05/09 A neat female who is just an adult. She has balance for her size but needs a lot more weight. The bone of legs and paws is still developing. Tail of good length with thick base and fairly rounded tip. Neat round head of good proportions. Her ears are very upright at present, and need more width between – as a result they detract from the overall appearance. Super round deep copper eyes – they could do with being a little bigger. Short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Her coat got her first place – it is really dense and crisp, and of good length, with blue and cream mingling well and sound to the roots – just a few ghost rings on her tail. She has some lovely qualities but is not quite at Certificate standard as yet, in my opinion.

2ND - SMITH’S COLINSWOOD TALLULAH

Blue-Cream 02/07/09 Just one year old and she is in the rangy stage now, with a medium sized slightly long body of fair weight. Bone structure to legs and paws matches the body for balance. Good tail. Head developing roundness to cheeks but topped by rather tall ears. Large round copper eyes. Broad nose with an apparent break in profile, level bite, chin just steps back a fraction. Slightly long coat of fair texture but rather flat lying. The medium blue and cream are medium and well mingled but there is silvery tipping evident at the surface. Sweet temperament.

3RD - BROWN’S MAWBRITZ HEIDI HI

Blue-Cream 02/08/09 Another youngster with a long narrow body – it has good depth but it needs to broaden. Fairly good bone to legs and paws. Round head with well set ears. Eyes could be rounder – they are gold but still have a strong green rim. Broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Her coat is a little long but fairly dense and crisp. The colours are hot cream mingled with blue but they fade at the roots. Nice temperament. I hope that the green rim fades as she matures.

BRITISH BLUE KITTEN

1ST, BOB – BREWER’S LADYLILY UTOPIA 01/12/09

This boy has some very good qualities and is really heavy for just over seven months but I believe that he will take a long time to mature – and may never quite grow into those ears! Super bone and weight, with a long body which still has to broaden and deepen, but with very strong thick legs – just standing a touch tall – and large round paws. Medium length tail with rounded tip and thick base. Fairly round head but out of balance at the moment with large open ears and a rather strong square muzzle. Gold eyes could be rounder – they still have a slight green rim at the moment. Broad nose, level bite, chin needs to firm. He has a very good coat – just slightly long but very dense and of a super sound medium blue with no silver tipping. Nice natured lad.

HUMBERSIDE SIDE CLASSES

AC BRITISH NON-BREEDER’S KITTEN

1ST - HODGSON’S LOTTINA BUGSYMALONE

Blue & White male 10/11/09 An impressive kitten with a lovely balance and good proportions to head and body. Good bone and weight. Good round head with neat, well spaced ears. Pleasing expression to round eyes of good colour. Good profile and level bite. Dense coat of good texture with correct proportions of white to deep sound blue. He has an attractive white blaze and white on chin and chest which extends round into a narrow full white collar. He has white running right down to his abdomen and white on legs and paws. Small uneven shaped white patch in the blue on his back. Lovely thick blue tail.

 2ND - BLATHERWICK’S WINDYMEADOW SERENDIPITY

– Chocolate Tortie Tabby Colourpointed female 30/03/10 Just a baby and she is of correct proportions and weight for her age. Round head with good width between her ears – she still has to grow into them as yet. Round eyes – there is a good shade of blue at the centre so I hope it spreads outwards. Good profile and level bite. Her coat is pleasing and she has good evidence of the chocolate and Tortie mingling as well as the tabby markings on her face, legs and tail – mask still developing. She has some faint evidence of tabby markings in the body colour. Sweet.

3RD - ADECISH LILAC ECLIPSE

Lilac male

AC BRITISH ADOLESCENT NEUTER

1ST - PIPER’S BETHELLA BUTTONS

Cream & White male 10/06/09 Just over a year old and quite rangy but he has good weight and bone. Rounded head topped by rather large ears and narrowing at the muzzle. Lovely big round orange eyes. Broad nose, level bite and firm chin. His coat is on the long side, quite dense and crisp, and the colour is rather hot cream – almost pale red, fairly sound. He has just about enough white in proportion – some on his muzzle, chin and chest and upper tummy. He has white on his lower legs. His tail shows hot ghost rings with very pale silvery tones in between.

AV ORIENTAL RADIUS ADULT

1ST - BAILEY’S WESTGARTH BATOUTOFHELL

Black Shorthair male 22/09/09 Long elegant body with good muscle tone to this male. He has long slim legs and oval paws. Long whip tail. Good wedge held on slender neck with straight lines running to the muzzle. Good green eyes of Oriental shape and set. Good profile and level bite. Sound fine black glossy coat lies close to his body. Lovely personality.

2ND - LYNN’S FISEPO LEGSBY-LUCINDA

Seal Tortie Bicolour female 12/07/08 Elegant female with good balance to body, long slim legs and oval paws. Long triangular wedge with well set ears. Clear blue eyes. Good profile, bite not level, firm chin. Her coat is fine and close lying and she has good points colour, acceptably diffused in places, and with evidence of both colours. Correct proportions and distribution of white. She has very heavy body shading which has its own Tortie pattern in it across her body which rather detracts from the general impact of her pattern unfortunately.
