COVENTRY & LEICESTER CAT CLUB, 28. 02. 09

Margaret Baker

My thanks to Mark and the Club for inviting me back to this ever popular, busy show. Special thanks to Rowena Murphy for having the commitment to fly over from Cork with me to steward, which she did with efficiency and enthusiasm.

AV ORIENTAL IMPERIAL GRAND CHAMPION MALE

- IGCC, TARBOX'S GR CH TIJANMEEK MCLAREN, 37fn, 18mths.

A sturdy looking fellow who still had plenty of grace and elegance. Strong head, almost perfectly straight profile. Ears wide based and well set, ideally could be a touch larger. Even chin, bite complete but a little irregular. Eyes oriental shape, beautiful almond green with a wistful expression, a real heartbreaker. Good length firm body, long fine limbs and lovely long tail. Shining coat of very good texture, roots a little pale on the sides but fully in tone with his warm apricot colour, which had correct dusted effect. Handsome cat with a good steady temperament.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER MALE

- IGPC, SHAWLEY'S UK GR PR HIGHIQ XTRAVAGANZA, 32 1, 3yrs 9mths.

Long wedge and wide spaced ears formed a beautiful triangle. Fairly straight profile, even chin, bite meets although there were some teeth missing. Eyes of gorgeous shape and expression, intense sapphire colour. Long well nourished body carrying a bit of weight, long legs with neat oval feet. Clear tabby markings on head with "M" and single ribbons, leg bars, well ringed tail just long enough, dark heels. Short close lying coat of good texture, unfortunately very shaded on the body, retaining a patch of contrast on top of head. He had presence and poise to go with his extremely good looks. Once they start darkening I don't know that there is much one can do to stop it, so I was glad to award him an Imperial before he gets any darker!

Res IGPC w/h. 2, MEEK'S GR PR ABICASA DONGIOVANNI, 24a, 5yrs 9mths.

Although his extravagant ears did give him a certain glamour, I felt his head was out of balance. Wedge very wide at top narrowing to a rather sharp muzzle. Good profile, flat forehead, chin slides back a fraction, teeth missing. Ears very low slung, almost hugging his face. Occipital bone prominent at back of head. Widely spaced eyes, oriental shape and lovely blue colour. Long fine neck, long firm body and fine legs. Long tail, almost perfect but for a "suspicion" at tip. Beautiful coat quality, shining condition, shaded on body and rather dark points. Gentle temperament.

AC SIAMESE/BALINESE IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER FEMALE

- IGPC w/h. 1, MEEK'S GR PR SHERMESE CHINA DOLL, 24, 1yr 8mths.

Elegant girl with a medium wedge and well set pointed ears. Slight dip on profile, strong chin and acceptable bite. Well shaped eyes of medium bright blue, showing the haws a little. Long neck and limbs, solid body, superb long tail. Excellent coat condition, lovely deep seal points, heavy shading over body. She was almost there, very pretty and elegant but just lacking that outstanding quality demanded for this award.

2, GODWIN'S CH & GR PR GENETTA BLUE HYACINTH, 24a, 5yrs 7mths.

A strong reliable sort who also needed more of the top quality. Good enough wedge, ears well placed but could be a bit larger. Profile fairly good with bump over the brow. Chin even, bite scissored over. Eyes lovely shape and excellent hue. Long elegant neck, long substantial body, long legs and neat paws. Tail fine and excellent length. Beautiful coat and colouring with soft blue points, the tail turning darker.

ORIENTAL RED ADULT

- 1, CC & BOB, TARBOX'S CH TIJANMEEK NAVHRA, M, 18mths.

Medium to long wedge on this strong masculine boy. Very good profile, firm chin, bite acceptably even. Well set ears of good size and flare. Oriental green eyes. Long lithe body, strong elegant limbs and long fine tail. Coat short and sound but felt a bit harsh down the spine. Nice bright colouring showing some pattern.

ORIENTAL TORTIE KITTEN

- 1 & BOB, SHORT'S CHAPELROSE FROM ME TO YOU, F, 37m, 8mths 1wk.

A lovely girl with lots of character. Well shaped wedge with good top, ears well set and wide at base. Exemplary straight profile, firm chin, bite almost perfect. Eyes good oriental shape, hazel tinted green toning nicely with her ensemble. Long elegant body of good size and weight, long legs and tail. Soft fine coat of well mixed colours, basic warm spicy cinnamon with shades of red, including bright red and sound enough. Talkative and sweet natured.

ORIENTAL BLUE NEUTER

- 1, PC & BOB, LLOYD'S GR CH SEIDO SEASCAPE, FN, 8yrs 10mths.

Excellent girl for her age, preserving all her teeth and bite was ok. Long wedge, medium sized ears which were well shaped and set. Slight dip on profile, firm even chin. Lovely eyes of super green. Not much of a neck but a long strong body, she obviously enjoys her food like a happy neuter should! Long elegant legs and neat spoon feet. Tail fine and tapered but needs a bit more length. Short sound coat of even blue, in shining condition. A pleasure to handle.

ORIENTAL LILAC NEUTER

- 1, PC & BOB, LORD'S GR PR TENAJ PINK PANTHER, MN, 3yrs 5mths.

Elegant boy with good type and balance. Even medium to long wedge, good profile with just a hint of a bump midway, even chin. Bite crooked and slightly scissored at one end but on the whole nothing serious. Oriental eyes of bright green with solemn expression. Very alert ears, well placed and wide at base. Long firm well muscled body, long fine legs and tail of adequate length. Even lilac colour on a beautiful quality coat, showing just a little ghost marking on thighs. Very good natured but obviously disturbed by people on the balcony. I know people like to watch the proceedings but cats don't like the distraction!

ORIENTAL RED NEUTER

- 1, PC & BOB, MANSFIELD'S TOGHAR SERENGETI, MN, 11mths 1wk.

Agile and elegant boy. Long rather fine wedge, well set ears when he relaxed and didn't prick them up. Profile almost straight, had just a gentle curve. Even chin, bite acceptable (he was an accomplished wriggler). Nicely slanted eyes with dilated pupils but a good green colour observable in corners. Long neck on athletic muscled body, fine legs and tail. Close short coat of a bright rich red, sound enough but showing strong markings.

ORIENTAL SHADED NEUTER

- BOB to LUND'S GR PR SMAUG TY, MN, 43ds, 2yrs.

Lovely head on this handsome boy, good profile and chin, bite complete and fairly even. Well set large open ears. Olive green eyes of excellent shape. Long neck and strong rangy body with good muscle, fine legs and balanced tail. Delicate colouring on close shaded coat of excellent texture, a little hard to detect the silver content under the hall lighting. Well worth BOB.

SIAMESE LILAC POINT ADULT MALE

- 1, CC, WILLIAMS' POLLYBEE LORD BOYSTERER, 16mths.

Lovely wedge shape on strong head with well set ears and good top. Noble profile and even chin with signs of a little acne underneath it. Eyes of good colour, inclined to squeeze them half shut, a reaction to tension. Strong body, not overfine but well balanced with long limbs and tail. Beautiful coat texture but hardly any points colour except for a faint blush over mask and ears - he must live in a hothouse! Gentle but rather nervous.

2, WHYTE'S GENETTA GLENGARRY, 1yr 7mths.

Quite a good wedge shape with fine muzzle. Ears well set when relaxed, wide at base. Profile had slightly uneven line, good chin and bite. Eyes medium bright blue, again a better shape when relaxed. Tall elegant cat with a long firm body and legs, spoon feet. Tail adequate length, turning a bit rusty. Very nice lilac points elsewhere and shown in lovely condition.

BOB to OWEN'S GR CH ROYSTERER SNOWDANDY, 2yrs 5mths.

Mature and imposing fellow, obviously the dad of CC winner. They had many similarities, including the tendency to squeeze up the eyes. Amusingly, they seemed to recognise each other while he was on the trolley, he almost said "hello son." Strong head with good profile and deep chin, he had lost a number of incisors from bite. Long strong body and well balanced limbs. Super coat quality with lightly coloured points of even soft lilac.

SIAMESE LILAC POINT ADULT FEMALE

- 1, CC, DAVIES' BURNTHWAITES DANCING QUEEN, 9mths 1wk.

Very pretty and feminine. Head somewhat fine with straight profile, good chin and bite. She was inclined to push whisker pads forward, disturbing the lines of the wedge. Lovely large ears, wide based and well set. Oriental shaped eyes with good bright colour. Elegant fine neck and body, long legs and long tapered tail. Soft pinky lilac points, colour shy on the legs. Well presented and now just needs time to develop.

SIAMESE RED POINT ADULT

- 1, CC & BOB, STOKES' LITTLEFEAT ROSARITA, F, 15mths 2wks.

Very sweet but a tense young girl at first. Good wedge and profile, even chin, bite marginally scissored. Beautifully flared ears. Sapphire eyes looking full through tension. Long fine neck, substantial firm body. Fine legs and dainty feet, tapered tail of adequate length. Superb coat quality, close lying and silky textured. Points colour developing, fiery red gold on the ears. She settled after a bit of petting.

SIAMESE TABBY POINT ADULT

- CC & BOB w/h. 1, ELLIS'S NITSILIK SOUND OF SEIL, F, 32 1, 12mths 3wks.

She was so beautiful but for a withholding fault. Medium length wedge, broad across the eyes, which were a beautiful shape and intense colour. Good profile, narrow but even chin, excellent ear set and wide top of head. Muscular body, elegant legs and fine dainty feet. Tail fine and well ringed, of balanced length, more's the pity she had a definite kink at the tip so the outcome was inescapable. Strong thumbmarks and facial tracings, faint leg bars and nice dark heels. Most attractive contrast, with body as yet barely shaded.

AC Breeders Burmese Kitten

- I did enjoy being among the Burmese, and this was an interesting class of 5 little girls with not an awful lot to divide them.

1, MOORE'S DULCAMARA PETRONELLA, F, 27c, 7mths 3wks.

Short broad head with blunt muzzle. Gently rounded dome, good distinct break in profile, nose a little rounded off, chin could be deeper but was well aligned, even bite. Eyes set well apart, of good shape and size. Ears on the large side but well placed and tilted. Muscular body, lovely paws and tail. Excellent coat, quite mature in texture, soft close and shiny in an even pale lilac.

2, BOARDMAN'S AMABILE BROWN DESDEMONA, F, 27, 17wks.

Pretty kitten with a lovely domed head, distinct nose break, slight curve over the nose, good chin, nothing much wrong with the bite as far as could be seen. Well proportioned ears in good setting. Eyes set well apart, good shape and size, colour at the moment a dull gold. Lithe healthy body, excellent length of tail, fine legs, sweet little feet. Coat soft and kittenish with good depth of even colour. She was absolutely charming until I looked at the bite!

3, COLLINS' AUREUS SWEET JULIET, F, 27, 21wks.

Excellent type short wedge, broad muzzle. Quite a good nose break, deep firm chin and level bite. Large beautiful Burmese eyes with rounded shape underneath, looking a bit apprehensive, colour probably changing but at the moment dull and unfortunately pale or I would have placed her higher. Well proportioned body with fine strong legs, oval feet, good tail. Close lying coat with sheen, rich warm brown with slight ghosting on thighs.

AC Burmese Kitten Not Bred by Exhibitor

- 1, WRIGGLESWORTH'S SYKRIS AKHENATEN, MN, 27, 7mths 3wks.

Good looking boy, gently rounded top of head on short wide wedge with blunt muzzle. Well placed and tilted ears of medium size. Rounded brow and quite good nose break in profile, firm chin and level bite. Large expressive eyes of fairly bright golden colour. Magnificent coat of sheer brown silk, muscular body of good weight, sturdy limbs and nice tail to balance.

2, WARD'S ADATEBU LADY CASSANDRA, F, 27, 7mths 2wks.

Attractive girl with a good short head and broad muzzle. Curved nose break, firm chin, perfect bite. Forehead a little flat, well set ears. Large widely spaced eyes tinged with green, wearing an expression of innocent wonderment. Firm body, slim legs with sweet dainty paws. Tail good shape, could do with more length. Even coloured coat, a bit long but still to mature. Delightful temperament.

3, WARD'S COOMAKISTA BAZILLE, M, 27, 6mths 3wks.

AV Breeders Oriental Adult Male

- 1, TARBOX'S GR CH TIJANMEEK MCLAREN.

2, TARBOX'S TIJANMEEK NAVHRA.

3, ARMITAGE'S CH CHAPELROSE OHMEOHMY, M, 37a, 15mths 2wks.

Slim and elegant fellow, good profile, but nose slightly in advance of chin which was deep enough, had a few teeth missing. Ears well set on wedge. Lovely solemn oriental eyes of good green, with a small tendency to turn in the right eye but it was not a fixed astigmus. Long evenly coloured body with straight back, long tail, elegant limbs and feet. Very sweet disposition.

AC Siamese Junior

- 1, FOSTER'S BOSSKIP LOTTIE, F, 24a, 13mths.

Dainty young lady with a fine wedge, good profile, even chin and perfect bite. Well set ears, nicely slanted bright blue eyes. Fine sculpted body with long fine legs and feet, long whip tail. Body lightly shaded with tonal colour, soft close lying coat. Very calm and cooperative, shown in excellent condition.

2, MEE'S KINGSHAVEN HONEYBABE, F, 32b8, 10mths 1wk.

Fine wedge and straight profile, well aligned chin. Bite marginally scissored. Large well set ears, rather full shaped eyes of good colour. Lovely fine neck, body and limbs, long tail showing tabby rings. Beautiful unblemished coat of good texture, with base colour of good blue caramel. I would have liked more colour breaks, especially on the left hind foot. Unfortunately very tense and coiled herself up.

3, ELLIS'S NITSILIK SOUND OF SEIL.

AC Siamese Senior

- 1, OWEN'S GR CH ROYSTERER SNOWDANDY.

2, GILLEN'S CH PENDLEMIST CASTA DIVA, F, 24a, 2yrs 5mths.

Calm and collected. Rather a short head but had a nice wide top with spaced large ears. Widely set eyes of beautiful shape and colour. Quite a good profile and firm chin, bite a bit irregular. Long neck and rather substantial body, long elegant legs and tail in balance. Shading over back tinged with fawn, blue points.

3, BARLOW'S DRUIDSWAY SADEH, F, 24a, 3yrs 5mths.

AC Breeders Siamese Kitten Male

- 1, HIRST'S TOGHAR BY DESIGN, 32 3, 4mths 2wks.

Growing up gracefully, good size and length. Elegant head with straight profile, chin a little shallow at tip, bite slightly crooked but meeting properly. Wide based and flared ears. Balanced eye shape and beautiful intense colour, ribbons developing well. Muscular and shapely body, long whip tail with plenty of rings. Chocolate tabby markings coming in nicely on a clear short and close lying coat.

2, STOKES' LITTLEFEAT READY TEDDY GO, 32a, 3mths 3wks.

Lovely and lively! Excellent profile and chin, huge spaced and flared ears, wide top of head. Fabulous eyes for shape and colour. Muscular body with rather fat sides, fine legs and long fine tail. Coat of excellent close texture, points developing the required fire on ears and tail. Super little fellow, he just lost out by a whisker to the better grown kitten. Two beautiful little boys.

AC Breeders Siamese Kitten Female

- 1, PALMER'S STYPERSON TOP DRAWER, 32 1, 7mths 3wks.

She lived up to her name. Beautiful profile and front facial view. Very wide based ears held low at sides of head, maybe a response to the busy surroundings, she was not at ease. Chin and bite all right. Eyes quite bright colour and good shape when relaxed. Elegant body with long neck and topline, long fine legs. Strong thumbmarks and patterning, excellent long tail with rings three-quarters of the way up.

2, JONES' SARAMESE ALWAYSONMYMIND, 24c, 6mths 1wk.

Long even wedge, gorgeous flared ears. Oriental blue eyes with a worried expression. I could barely see the upper incisors though there appeared nothing wrong with the profile or set of the chin, she wriggled madly at this point. Firm little body a bit overfed, fine legs and neat little feet, long whip tail. Pale points as yet on a clear close coat. Sweet kitten but very tense.

3, HANDLEY'S BABADAG MIDSUMERNITE DREAM, 24, 6mths.

Another hectic wriggler. Short wedge with slightly uneven profile on forehead. Grand deep chin, bite ok. Open based well set ears. Oval eyes with good depth of colour. Long lean body and limbs, long stringy tail. Excellent contrast of warm cream body and dense seal points, mask still to develop fully as she was wearing small spectacles.

AC 24 Series Siamese Neuter

- 1, COPELAND'S FLOWERDEW GTX PECTATIONS, MN, 24, 1yr 3wks.

Tall standing boy, very handsome. Lovely face on long wedge with just a suggestion of a pinch. Aristocratic profile, chin near perfectly aligned and strong enough. Clear blue oriental eyes. Excellent set of large open ears. Long neck, firm strong body, long legs and long tail brindled at the root. Good seal points on a coat in sound condition.

2, MEEK'S GR PR SHERMESE CHINA DOLL.

3, COUSINS' PR RENDZINA BOND JAMESBOND, MN, 24b, 2yrs 5mths.

AC 32 Series Siamese Neuter

- 1, HOCKEN'S PR EPITOME SUNDANCE, MN, 32a, 2yrs 4mtns.

Lovely tall lad, profile a bit heavy over the brow. Firm even chin, bite all right. Well set ears, beautiful eyes with oriental slant, beguiling expression. Good length well toned body, limbs slender but strong, long fine tail. Ears fiery red gold, paler points and warm golden shading along back. Excellent coat and condition.

My thanks to all exhibitors who showed under me.
