SOUTH RIBBLE PET CAT CLUB 11TH of October 2008
Judge: Marianne Brett

Thank you SRPCC for the invite to judge –I thoroughly enjoyed myself, as did my other half John who stewarded for me. Thank you also for allowing me to be on the BIS panel alongside Anne Gregory and Ruth Town –we clearly had the same taste as the result was unanimous! Well done to the gorgeous (and enormous!) Bobbit on taking the BIS title.

Class 5: Tortie or Tortie/White SH adult: (3)

1 Brookfield’s MOLLY, Tortie FN 9 yr. Best in Colour.

Huge Tortie girl. Very handlable, a cat you could do anything with, a delight to cuddle! A little bit overweight but otherwise in excellent condition all round.

2 Kidd’s MC HANNAH Tortie/wh SH 8 yr.

Very pretty tortie/white. Well prepared. A small amount of dandruff in the coat but otherwise in excellent condition. Was okay to handle but preferred being stroked inside the pen.

3 Wexler’s VICTORIA, Tortie SH 4 yr 6 m.

Very good condition of this extremely pretty girl. Very friendly inside pen, but hissed when handled outside it. As I explained to the owner after judging, I am sure the hisses were not at all directed at us but rather at the cats in the other pens!

Class 13a: Tabby or Tabby/white SH Junior male: (3)

1 Porter’s TIGGER, Spotted Tabby 1yr 2m. BIC.

Very well prepared with claws nicely trimmed etc. Wonderful coat and excellent condition. Very friendly inside the pen, less happy outside it.

2 Westerman & Beach’s MILO, Tabby 1 yr 8 m.

Very striking colour, rich brown with such clear tabby markings –a beauty. Very nice sleek coat. Fine to handle but had a hiss at the other cats in nearby pens.

3 Higginson’s NOAH, Tabby/wh 1 yr 5m.

Excellent condition with a lovely coat. Unfortunately this lovely boy was rather unnerved by the showing experience. He couldn’t wait to get out of the pen, but he didn’t want to be handled either, he just wanted to go home.

Class 13b: Tabby r Tabby/white SH Junior female: (2, 1 Abs)

1 Watkins’ JASMINE, White/Tabby 2 yr.

White with almost van markings on head and tail –very pretty. Nice to handle, well prepared and overall good condition.

Class 20: AV Senior Adult (2-7 yrs): (3)

1 Westerman & Beach’s JACK, SH Silver Tabby MN 6 yr.

Very big strikingly marked Silver Tabby. Very good condition. Excellent to handle. Perfect in every way!

2 Kidd’s MC BILLY, SH Tabby MN 6 yr.

Another lovely big boy, unlucky to come up against winner. Good condition, very well prepared, very good to handle.

3 Porter’s MILLY, SH Dilute Tortie Tabby/wh FN 2 yr 9 m.

Very pretty smaller girl. Soft thick coat. Okay to handle but hissed a bit at us.

Class 26: Any male cat or kitten: (3)

1 Kidd’s MC ALFRED, SH Tabby/wh MN 19 yr.

Spotless cat. Wonderful soft coat. Very well prepared. Excellent to handle. A tiny bit of dandruff in the coat, otherwise perfect.

2 Porters TIGGER –see class 13a.

3 Marland’s SYDNEY, SH Black/wh MN 1 yr.

Black with a white locket. Unfortunately Sydney wasn’t in the best of moods when we got to him and he would not allow us to handle him at all, but his condition looked great.

Class 27: Any female cat or kitten: (3)

1 Watkin’s JASMINE, see class 13b.

2 Kidd’s MC ALEXANDRA, SH Tabby/wh FN 10 yr.

Very pretty, striking tabby/white girl. Well prepared and really good to handle, but somewhat overweight.

3 Atherton’s DIAMOND NEFERTARI, SH Black/wh FN 12 yr 7 m.

Excellent to handle, and so lovely to see another older cat in such good condition. She was moulting a fair amount and by sheer bad luck had tipped her water bowl into her litter tray which turned the woodbased litter into sawdust, which she then covered herself with! But she was clearly in good condition underneath it all!

Class 47: Friendliest cat or kitten (5)

1 Kidd’s MC ALFRED. See class 26. TOTALLY relaxed and happy!

2 Lomax’s CASEY, SH Blue Tabby M 19 weeks.

Absolutely fine to handle, just not quite as relaxed as the winner.

3 Watkins’ JASPER, SH Black/wh MN 2 yr.

White with black patches. Fine to handle but preferred being cuddled to standing on the table –and who can blame him!

4 Wexler’s VICTORIA, see class 5.

Hissed in the pen for this class, just to make a point.

Class 54: The Staywell Challenge: (1)

1 Kidd’s MC DAISY, SH Black/wh FN 2 yr.

Very good to handle. Good condition overall and well prepared. Moulted a little.

Class 60: Charity Class (2, 1 Abs)

1 Lomax’s TC, SH FN 1 yr 2 m.

Entered as a Cream Tabby Point, owner might be interested in knowing this very pretty girl is in fact a Seal Tortie Tabby Point. She had one pink paw pad and a cream toe showing the tortie element! Absolutely wonderful cat. So laid back she even laid down on the table. Excellent condition and well prepared.

Class 69: The Tanya Memorial class (4, 1 Abs)

1 Kidd’s MC HANNAH, see class 5.

2 Kidd’s MC ALEXANDRA, see class 27.

3 Stewart’s MICKEY MOUSE, SLH Black/wite FN 6 yr.

Good condition and nice coat, but wasn’t happy at all at being handled and hissed a fair bit.
