MERSEYSIDE CAT CLUB SHOW

6TH JUNE 2009

JANET TONKINSON

This was my first invitation to judge at Merseyside, although I have exhibited here many times with some happy memories. Many thanks to Jennifer and the committee for the kind invitation and warm hospitality. My steward was Penny Jackson who as usual handled the cat with great care and consideration and helped me through quite a busy day, I look forward to our next engagement together, thank you Penny.

AV ORIENTAL GRAND CHAMPION FEMALE

GR CH HUDSON’S CH SHADOWSQUAD ANGELO DARKNESS 37 F 26/9/07

pretty girl with nice even wedge not overly long but well balanced, large flared ears that follow the lines of the triangle and wonderful deep green oriental eyes, lovely straight profile with firm chin and level bite. Slender long body yet of good weight and substance with sound black coat that is a fraction long but lies nicely against her form, long legs with neat oval paws and long whip tail which is just slightly blunt at the tip. It was obvious to me that she has just returned to the bench after maternity leave and I did move away and let her settle before coming to a decision to award the certificate and it paid off she was presenting herself much better later on.

RES GR CH HOGAN’S CH SENSUAL MIDNITEMAGIC 37 F 10/8/05

mature girl with moderate length of head yet well balanced, oriental green eyes though not having quite the same intensity of colour as her rival, almost straight profile just a tiny dip and bump on her nose, good chin and level bite and well placed flared ears although I would have liked them slightly larger. Long slender body with short close lying shiny and sound black coat in excellent bodily condition, slender long legs with neat paws I would have just liked another half an inch on her tail for complete balance ,but nicely presented and good natured lady.

1 & BOB SIMPSON’S KYOMI MIDNYTE SOLACE 37 M 12/2/09

delightful young baby boy at his first show and really enjoying his day, lovely little wedge head with huge flared ears that he has yet to grow into. Oriental eye set and shape although still slightly muddy the green has not yet fully developed, straight profile with good chin and even bite and a tiny teething pinch to his muzzle. Proportionate length of slender little body and short close coat dense black to the roots in nice condition if still slightly baby fluffy. Slender long legs with neat oval paws and lovely length of stringy tail to balance and neatly presented.

ORIENTAL LONGHAIR KITTEN

1 & BOB FULLERTON’S STARAPPEAL SCENESTEALER 62 43a M 25/10/08

a delightful young man who I last met at Coventry & Leicester in February and he has really grown and developed well and I see that his owner and breeder must have been advised by a senior full judge to change his registration as he was a tabby when we last met. Huge big boy for 7months with excellent head of real balance and large flared ears that follow the lines of the wedge beautifully and with full furnishings, strong roman profile with firm chin and clean level bite, wonderful deep green oriental eyes and facial tabby markings present. Long firm and really muscular body for his age, the coat length is acceptable for this stage of development, soft blue in tone shading through to a cool beige ground, his spine line is solid and broad with just a few very superficial spots at the nape of the neck and there are still some very superficial tabby stripes on his lower flanks which have almost disappeared under his tummy. Powerful long legs with some leg bracelet apparent and broad tufted feet, his fully plumed tail of excellent length is still showing a few indistinct rings. An absolutely delightful young man beautifully presented and with a wonderful temperament to match who has a bright future before him if today is any indication as he was later to be Best Overall Oriental exhibit, congratulations to his owner and breeder.

ORIENTAL BLUE NEUTER

1PC & BOB ANDERSON’S FIORDILISO EARL GREY 37a MN 21/6/08

big handsome blue boy with strong masculine head and large flared ears that are well set and oriental bright green eyes, straight profile with good depth of chin and level bite. Big strong and powerful long body with short close lying coat that is maybe slightly darker blue than desired but in excellent condition and sound to the roots, he just needs to watch his figure as he could be inclined to lose some of the overall elegance. Slender long legs with neat oval paws and because he is so long he would really benefit from another inch on his tail to give him complete balance but still a lovely lad nicely presented.

ORIENTAL BI-COLOUR NEUTER

slightly shy black and white bi-colour boy with quite good balance to his head and large well placed flared ears one with a white tip. Oriental set brilliant green eyes and almost straight profile with an inverted V of white over his face and around his muzzle with firm chin and clean bite. Long svelte body with mostly black on his back and flanks but with a clear line of white from his chin right through his tummy region. Slender long legs that are mostly white but with areas of black on all four feet and neat paws, lovely long whippy tail that is completely black. There is a fractional overlay of colour at the very edge of each area where the black and white meets but when the hair is raised there is no actual bleeding of colour.

TORTIE POINT SIAMESE KITTEN

charming little baby girl who was really enjoying her day, lovely stylish head with huge wide at base ears set at just the right angle and showing a good amount of red. Bright clear blue eyes, they could perhaps be a slightly deeper blue but the colour could still be developing at this age, almost straight profile with good chin and clean bite with well broken seal tortie mask including red. Slender long neck and proportionate length of slender body and a virtually clear very short close lying cream coat in lovely condition. Good length of slender legs with dainty little paws all with breaks of colour including red, and long stringy tail also with tiny flashes of red and cream, super temperament and neatly presented

sweet nature young lady with medium length even wedge head and large wide based ears that are well set. Oriental eye set and shape of quite bright clear blue but I would have liked a little more intensity of colour, straight profile with good depth of chin and level bite and well developed seal tortie mask but with virtually no red at this stage on her mask or ears. Quite well grown long slender body with short close lying cream coat with some tonal shading to her lower back, slender long legs with neat little oval paws all with breaks in colour but again I could find no red. She does have the most wonderfully long tail that she could almost use for a scarf on a cold day, breaks in colour but again no red, and I do feel there should be at least a couple of flecks somewhere by now.

very stylish young man with lovely strength of head and huge wide based ears well set. Oriental eye set and shape but I was slightly disappointed by the colour I would have liked to see a more intense shade of green, strong profile with quite good depth of chin and level bite. Lovely big boy for his age with long muscular body and short close lying coat warm chestnut brown and sound to the roots. Slender legs of good length with neat oval paws and lovely long whippy tail to balance, excellent temperament and condition.

charming young man with lovely stylish head and large flyaway ears set at just the right angle. Deep green oriental eyes and lovely strength of profile with firm chin and level bite. Good length of slender yet firm body with short close lying warm chestnut coat that is showing quite a few ghost tabby markings at this stage but he is generally sound. Long legs with neat little oval paws and wonderful long whippy tail, excellent temperament and presentation.

handsome red silver shaded boy with lovely even wedge head and large flared ears, lovely strong profile with firm chin and level bite, with pale green oriental eyes. Firm long muscular body with really short close coat, red silver shaded with approximately fifty percent silver base in excellent condition. Slender long legs and neat oval paws with lovely length of whip like tail to balance, well presented in excellent condition.

rather shy young lady blue standard shaded, nicely balanced head with large well placed ears showing clear thumb prints, oriental green eyes, straight profile firm chin and level bite with full facial tabby markings. Proportionate length of slender body with lovely soft toned blue shaded coat on cool beige ground, soft textured in lovely condition. Long legs with neat oval paws and a few leg bars, good length of whippy tail to balance, sweet natured and nicely presented.

attractive young blue point queen with lovely head and huge wide based ears that she is just inclined to bonnet a fraction possibly because of their size, she has yet to grow into them fully. Wonderful deep blue oriental eyes and lovely strength of profile, I would have just liked to see a slightly deeper chin but her bite meets, soft toned blue mask that is basically complete which is well matched to her ears. Good length of slender long body and of good overall development with a short close coat that is almost glacial, just the hint of some pale tonal shading towards her wonderfully long stringy tail. She stands quite proudly on her long slender legs with dainty little paws with well matched soft blue stockings, a delightful temperament nicely presented.

AC SIAMESE NOVICE KITTEN There was very little to chose between these two young girls both approaching that early adolescent phase but with kitten development still to come as well.

good natured young lady with moderated head although there is obviously still some length to come, quite pleasing profile developing and large wide based ears of quite good set with width across the top line. Bright clear mid blue eyes inclined to be slightly full in shape and I would have preferred a more intense colour on a seal, good depth of chin and level bite and well developed seal brown mask. Slender long body of good general weight and condition with short close coat although I felt she was quite shaded for one so young. Long legs with neat little oval paws and warm seal brown stockings with lovely length of whippy tail, good presentation and condition.

lovely big mature chocolate tortie point girl with a superb temperament, excellent balance to her head with large wide based ears and good width across the top line. Strong profile and good depth of chin, her bite appears level although a fraction untidy as she is losing incisors, oriental eye set and shape I would have just liked to see a little more intensity to the blue colour, well broken mask including warm chocolate brown red and cream. Substantial long body, she perhaps over indulges at the food bowl at home but lovely close lying short coat with some warm tonal shading over her back. Long slender legs with neat oval paws showing good breaks of colour on all points including red and lovely long whip like tail also with red. Excellent presentation and she is obviously very spoilt and loved at home.

quite pretty little lilac point young queen with moderate even wedge and large wide based ears of reasonable set. Oriental pale blue eyes and straight profile with good chin and level bite and complete soft pinkie toned lilac mask. Long slender body with absolutely clear magnolia coat in excellent condition, slender legs and neat paws with pale lilac booties, good length of whip tail although slightly thick along the whole length. On putting her back into her pen she appeared to become distressed turning her head to one side and the Duty Vet was called I believe that she does this action when stressed due to any infection as a kitten, and she was taken home. A pity really as she is such a sweet natured little cat but obviously showing does not suit her.

CLUB CLASS AC SIAMESE OR BALINESE NEUTER

1 BLACKBOURN’S PLEZETOBE PRINCE CHARMING 24b MN 15/5/08

handsome young chocolate point boy with lovely strength of head and huge wide based ears that follow the lines of the triangle beautifully with good top line. Wonderful deep blue and very expressive oriental eyes maybe just a fraction deep set, quite a strong profile just a tiny dip and bump on nose and full warm chocolate mask, firm chin and level bite. Huge long svelte body, really powerful and muscular and short close ivory coat with a minimum of tonal shading towards his long whippy tail, slender long legs with neat paws and well matched to each other though fractionally paler chocolate stocking, excellent temperament and presentation.
