Show report for Merseyside Cat Club Showheld 6/6/2009Judge - Prue KerrMany thanks for inviting me to judge - there was the usual lovely friendly welcome, and the show was efficiently organised by Jennifer Pinches and her committee. AC BURMESE IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER1 IMP GR PR PLAWS’ CH & GR PR RAINSONG XABI ALONSO;this lad had a lovely heavy, muscular feel, excellent coat quality, fine, short and silky, clear warm tone, tail balances, head has excellent width to top between well placed ears, deep level chin and even bite, well-defined break to profile, yellow eyes of correct shape, with rounded lower lid and obliquely set upper line, giving nice expression. CHOCOLATE BURMESE ADULT MALE1 CC COLLINS’ CH AUREUS CHAMPAGNE CHARLIE;large, heavy and well developed for his age, with muscular body, limbs and proportionate tail, coat is of an attractive warm tone of chocolate, clear; head has short wedge, bite is level, but the chin falls away a little, good width to top of head, between well sized ears, yellow eyes of good size, are slightly too round in shape, and so detract from overall facial expression. 2 EDWARDS’ CH JACOU COCOCHOCOLATE DREAM;mature firm, muscular feel to this lad, well proportioned body, legs and tail, coat is very sleek, and of a warm, pale tone of chocolate, head shows good break in profile, level bite and chin; ears of proportionate size but I would prefer more width to the top of his head, pale yellow eyes are slightly small in proportion to his mature head. FEMALE1 CC BOB WILSON’S MAHARANI VANITY FAIR;a lovely girl of excellent overall type, well proportioned throughout, and with superb coat of warm tone and sleek fine texture, lovely head has deep level chin, level bite, nice width to top of head between well proportioned ears, nicely rounded brow, yellow eyes have correct rounded lower lid and obliquely set upper lid, giving very typical expression. BROWN BURMESE NEUTERConsidered for BOB only BOB CH & PR RAWEKE MIRROR IMAGE;nice overall muscular feel, feeling weighty for his size, glossy finish to coat, which is just a little dark in tone, head has short blunt wedge, excellent profile break and deep level chin, nicely rounded brow, widely set ears of proportionate size, nice eye shape and set, with correct expression. ASIAN TABBY (SPOTTED, CLASSIC, MACKEREL, TICKED) ADULT1 CC BOB KEMP’S CH NATZKATZ JABULANI, 72/45sq BCRbrown silver ticked tabby; a very pretty girl, albeit a slightly small one; lovely overall type, with firm muscular body and proportionate limbs, tail slightly short and tapered in shape, excellent coat texture, and silver nicely ticked with dark BCR brown, brown tip to tail, head is short, with rounded brow, deep level chin, level bite, nicely shaped and set ears, with good width to top of head, green eyes of excellent shape, set and expression. ASIAN SELF /TORTIE (INC BOMBAY) KITTEN1 BOB n/a BRADLEY’S NEMOREZ SCARLETOHARA,blue tortie; good overall type, with proportionate body, limbs and tail, coat is long, rather coarse in feel, and quite unsound and grey at the roots, head has a medium length wedge, level bite and chin, good break in profile, but I would prefer more width to the top of the head and that the ears were more widely set, good profile break, yellow eyes are rather small and round in shape. CORNISH REX KITTEN, FEMALE1 BOB n/a DESOLLA’S INDASIA MAYKIA, 33/40/4, dob 20/2/2009;well-grown, firm and muscular, nice long slim elegant legs, oval paws, and fine tail of balancing length, well covered throughout in nicely waved coat, head has medium wedge, nice high cheekbones, ears of proportionate size, open at base and correctly placed slightly high, bite is overshot and chin recedes; brow has flat skull curving gently at brow, high cheek bones, but muzzle is narrow and rather pointed, eyes are oval, but rather small, and this, taken together with the receding chin, gives an untypical expression to the facial expression. DEVON REX KITTEN MALE1 w/h, 2 RHODES’ CURLYPURPOT MOONLIT MIST (33a31ts) dob 26/10/2008;well grown, but of rather an inelegant, chunky overall appearance, with stocky limbs and rounded paws, tail of proportionate length to balance, but thick in shape, back, legs and tail are well covered in rather coarse shaggy coat, with only minimal waves apparent, tummy is covered in down, head is poorly proportioned, too narrow at the top, with ears set too upright, fair stop in profile and a reasonable whisker break, eyes are of good size, and correct slightly oblique set, giving a nice expression. FEMALE1 BOB RHODES’ CURLYPURPOT HONEYPIE (33a31es) dob 04/01/2009;same father as Moonlit Mist, I see, but very different in almost every way. Excellent overall type, well grown, firm and elegant, fine tail of balancing length, well covered in coat, with down on tummy and waves developing over back, head is short, with wide cheekbones, and has a level chin and bite, excellent stop in profile, leading to flat forehead, good whisker break, and acceptable width at the cheeks, ears are well set, wide on the head, would prefer that they had more width at base. Eyes are oval and correctly set, sloping upwards towards the outer edge of the ears. 2 ANDERSON’S NIDORAN SHONA LULU, (33a30bs) dob 16/12/2008;excellent overall body type, with muscular body, elegant legs, dainty oval paws, fine tail; body well covered in fine fur, with some waves developing, but quite a lot of coarse guard hairs on the lower back, head shows short broad wedge with high cheek bones, brow curves back to flat skull, short nose, but not enough stop in profile, nor as good a whisker break as the winner, and her ears are slightly small and less open at the base. 3 TAM’S POOLSIDE TANTALIZINGTORTIE, (33a28) dob 14/9/2008;well proportioned girl with firm muscular body, slim legs, oval paws, tail of proportionate length, well covered throughout in soft coat, with waves starting to develop; head has level bite but rather shallow chin, good whisker break but stop in profile only fair, and she has a small bump over her nose, ears are rather small but fairly well set wide on the head, expressive eyes are large, oval and have correct upward tilt towards the ears. 4 EDMOND’S CHARNFIELD CHIQUI (33a27x) dob 30/10/2008;large, well-grown FN , rather lacking in elegance, with sturdy limbs and rounded paws, thick tail of balancing length, body well covered in coat, but little evidence of waves; head has level bite, good stop in profile leading back to flat brow, end of nose rolls off and chin is shallow, some whisker break, ears are disproportionately small and held too upright, eyes are round and give face an untypical expression. AV Foreign Neuter - a strong class1 PENNY’S GR PR HOADHILL FUNTIME FRANKIE, Bengal Spotted MN;extremely handsome large and muscular lad, very well proportioned, with muscular limbs, tail held low, and body elegant with a heavy feel; mature head, with neat ears, prominent whisker pads, expressive green eyes, fine coat of velvety texture, wonderful contrast between well defined coat pattern and background, which is a rich golden tone. Lovely lad, who behaved impeccably. 2 EDMONDS’ GR CH NOTTERTS NANCY, Devon Rex FN;rather overweight, but the basic good type is still evident, tail is tapered but is rather thick, fine textured, tightly waved coat over entire body, nice head shape with level bite and deep level chin, excellent profile, with good stop and broad flat brow, between well cupped widely spaced ears, good whisker break, expressive eyes of correct oval shape, and correct slightly oblique set. 3 LEITH’S GR PR RINTINABY RED HERRING, Abysinnian.
