The Midland Counties Cat Club Show

17th May 2009
Many thanks to Jean and Brenda and the Midland committee for their very kind invitation to judge this year. I had a lovely day accompanied by Sally Giles who is a calm and efficient steward. I had some very good quality Burmese today and would like to thank all the exhibitors for allowing me to assess their cats.

Class 404 Cream Burmese Kitten

1st and BOB Robinson’s Molynmeux Gold Dust (27f) M 23/12/08
Lovely cream kitten of very good Burmese type. He has a short wedge with very good width at his cheekbones and tapering to a short and blunt muzzle of good width. The top of his head is well rounded and he has good width between his ears that are set wide apart- although I would have preferred them very slightly lower for preference. His ears are medium in size and have a broad base and rounded tips. His eyes are fairly large and are set well apart. They have a lovely well defined shape with a well rounded bottom line and a flatter top line that is angled towards his nose. He has a very good Burmese expression. In profile the depth of his head is good and his ears show a slight forward tilt. His brow is gently rounded and his nose break is well defined. His nose is fairly short and straight except for a small bump. It finishes in the same vertical plane as his chin that is medium in depth. His bite is correct. His body is a nice size for his age and he felt heavy and has good developing muscularity. His chest is rounded and his back is straight. His tail is of medium thickness at the base and tapers to a rounded tip and is long enough to balance. His coat is medium in length and soft textured and lay well. He is a nice pale cream with some powdering already evident on his head. He is clear coated except for 1 smudge on each hind leg and a single well broken necklace. His condition is very good and he was very engaging and really just wanted up to play!

Class 774 AC Cat not having won a CC

1st Bowen’s Janzanco Go-Man-Go (27d) M 19/7/08
A shy boy in very good condition. He has quite a nice short wedge with good width at his cheekbones and then tapering to a slightly long muzzle with a blunt finish. The top of his head shows good rounding with fairly good width between his ears that are set wide apart and do just continue the shape of the upper part of his face. His ears are medium in size and have a broad base and rounded tips. His eyes are medium/large in size and set wide apart. There is not enough difference between the top and bottom lines and they were a full almond shape today. They are golden yellow in colour and his eye shape spoilt his expression. In profile his depth of head is good and his ears show a slight forward tilt. His brow is a little flat and long and his nose break needs more definition. His nose is a little long and straight and his chin is medium in depth and a little set back. His bite is correct. His body is well grown and he feels firm and muscular with good conformation. His tail is of medium thickness at the base and tapers to a rounded tip and is long enough to balance. His coat is a little long on his back but lay well and has a soft texture. He is a moderately bright tangerine colour stronger on his spine line and paling over his sides. He is clear coated. His temperament is good and he has a shy and gentle nature.
2nd Clarke’s Dorevalley Saphira (27a) F 13/2/06
A mature girl but felt a little out of condition today. She has a moderately short wedge with only reasonable width at her cheekbones and tapering to a longish muzzle with a blunt finish. She has fairly good rounding to the top of her head but a heavy brow and only reasonable width between her ears that need to be set lower. Her ears are medium in size and have a correct broad base and rounded tips. Her eyes are large in size and set fairly well apart and are a little deep set. They have a correct rounded bottom line and flatter top line angled towards her nose. They are chartreuse in colour and she has a reasonable Burmese expression. In profile the depth of her head is fairly good and her ears show slight forward tilt. Her brow is gently rounded but a little long and her nose break is well defined. Her nose is a little long and straight and her chin is of shallow depth and is set back. Her bite is correct. Her body is compact and a little light and bony along her back. Her chest is rounded and her back is straight. Her tail is of medium thickness at the base and tapers to a rounded tip and is long enough to balance. Her coat is a little long but lies well with a soft texture. She is a mid-toned blue with silvering on her head, legs and paws. She is clear coated and her condition is fair and her temperament was calm and friendly.
3rd Edwards’s Jacou Devilin Bluejeans (27a) F 16/10/07
A mature girl who was a little fed up. She has a medium length wedge with fair width at her cheekbones and tapering to a longish muzzle with a blunt finish. The top of her head shows reasonably good rounding and fairly good width between her ears that are set fairly wide apart. Her ears are medium in size with a broad base and rounded tips. Her eyes are medium in size and need to be set somewhat wider apart. They have a fairly well defined shape with a flatter top line but would need to have more rounding to the bottom line to be ideal. They are chartreuse in colour and she has a fairBurmese expression. In profile the depth of her head is slightly shallow and her ears show a slight forward tilt. Her brow is gently rounded and her nose break is a little indistinct. Her nose is a little long but straight and finishes in the same vertical plane as her chin that is slightly shallow in depth. Her bite is correct. Her body is compact in size but with good muscularity and her chest is rounded and her back straight. Her tail is of medium thickness at the base and tapers to a rounded tip and is long enough to balance. Her coat is medium in length and soft in texture and a dark blue with minimal silvering. She is clear coated in good condition. She was happy to be handled but happier in her pen.

Class 775 AC Cat having won 1 or more CC’s

2 super girls!
1st Shoemark and Smithson’s Boofykatz Blue Bianca (27a) F 16/4/06
An extremely attractive baggage. She has a short wedge with very good width at her cheekbones and tapering to a short muzzle with a blunt finish. The top of her head shows very good rounding and she has very good width between her ears that are set well apart and continue nicely the shape of the upper part of her face. Her ears are medium in size and have a broad base and rounded tips. Her eyes are a super large size and are set well apart and have a very well defined shape with a well rounded bottom line and a flatter top line angled towards her nose. They are chartreuse in colour and she has a very good Burmese expression. In profile the depth if her head is good and her ears show a slight forward tilt. Her brow is gently rounded and her nose break is well defined. Her nose is fairly short and straight and finishes in the same vertical plane as her chin that is medium in depth. Her bite is correct. Her body is medium in size with good muscularity and weight. Her chest is rounded and her back is straight. Her tail is of medium thickness at the base and tapers to a rounded tip and is long enough to balance. Her coat is soft and fairly short in length. She is a mid toned blue with some silvering and she is clear coated. Her condition is very good and she had enough attitude to enhance her expression but was not at all nasty.
2nd Gorman’s Molynmeux Demeuxre (27c) F 7/12/07
A super girl I have judged before who has lovely Burmese type and expression. She has a short wide wedge with very good width at her cheekbones and tapering to a fairly short blunt finished muzzle. She has very good rounding to the top of her head and with very good width between her ears that were set well apart and the outer line of her ears nicely continued the shape of the upper part of her face. Her ears are medium/large in size and are the correct shape having a broad base and rounded tips. Her eyes are large and lustrous and set well apart and have an excellent shape with a well defined rounded bottom line and a straighter top line angled towards her nose although I preferred the slightly more acute angle of the top line displayed by the class winner. They are chartreuse in colour. She has a very good Burmese expression. In profile her skull depth is a little shallow. Her brow is gently rounded and her ears show a slight forward tilt. Her nose break is very well defined and she has a short straight nose that ended in the same vertical plane as her chin that is slightly shallow in depth. Her bite is correct. Her body is well grown and she has fairly good muscularity. Her chest is rounded and her back is straight. She has elegant legs and neat oval shaped paws. Her tail is of the correct length to balance and has a medium thick base and tapers to a rounded tip. Her coat is medium in length and soft in texture and has a nice glossy finish. She is a warm mid-toned lilac with pinkish tones evident. She is clear coated. Her condition is very good and she handled well although was not as settled as last time we met.  A very nice exhibit indeed.

Class 785 AC Kitten 3-6 months

1st Williams’s Molynmeux Zazeux (27j) F 23/12/08
A lovely kitten of superb Burmese type. She has a short wide wedge with excellent width at her cheekbones and tapering beautifully to a short but still wide muzzle with a lovely blunt finish. She has very good rounding to the top of her head and very good width between her ears that are set wide apart and continue the shape of the upper part of her face. Her eyes are large in size- to be ultra-critical they could be slightly larger for perfection- and set wide apart and have a very well defined shape with a well rounded bottom line and a flatter top line that was at its best as she relaxed. They are a good yellow colour and she has an excellent Burmese expression. In profile the depth of her head is good and her ears show a slight forward tilt. Her brow is gently rounded and her nose break is fairly well defined. Her nose is fairly short and straight except for a very small bump. It finishes in the same vertical plane as her chin that is medium in depth. Her bite is correct. Her body is growing well and she has good developing muscularity. Her chest is rounded and her back is straight and she has long legs and neat oval shaped paws. Her tail is of medium thickness at the base and tapers to a rounded tip and is just long enough to balance. Her coat is medium in length and soft in texture and lies well. She is a mixture of lovely pale cream and lilac that is well mingled. She is clear coated. Her condition is very good and she wanted to play longer! An extremely promising kitten.
