Bucks., Oxon. & Berks. Cat Society 19.09.09 Mrs Val Anderson

Thanks to Barbara and her team for the invite. I am very grateful to Sue Amor for her company and expert stewarding especially as she was showing her LaPerm babies. I had the difficult task of choosing the Best Foreign Exhibit from a wonderful array of best of breed winners. My eventual choice was the Egyptian Mau neuter: Gr Pr Santillo Feromeses Mercury. Congratulations to his owner and breeder!

OPEN CLASSES NORWEGIAN FOREST ADULT MALE

1ST CC TIPPER’S LIR GATTA (IMP) (67 20) M 23.04.08 Brown Tabby

A well-grown strong & muscular boy of 16 months with lovely bone development. Broad masculine head, triangular with an almost straight profile. Level bite & good depth of chin though it falls off very slightly at the tip. Large ears set high & open with good width at the base. Small tufts plus some inner furnishing. Large eyes of oval shape in an oblique setting. Long body with strong limbs & large feet with tufted toes. His tail could be a fraction longer but is well-furnished and bushy. Well-prepared coat with a dense woolly undercoat and topcoat developing with some slightly coarser hairs down his back. He was a little reserved but not a problem to handle.

2ND COMER’S ZELANDONII MITHRANDIR (67 31a) M 15.04.08 Blue & White

A young elegant boy just a few days older than the winner but with a long rangy body at present, he needs to fill it out & muscle up. Triangular head with all sides equal and straight profile emphasised by a white blaze. Level bite and deep chin though it could be a little stronger but not helped by being white. Tall ears set high & open with good inner furnishing but no tufts. Oval eyes in an oblique setting but they could be more expressive; not helped by his haws being up a little. Long body with strong limbs and large round paws with tufted toes. Long, reasonably bushy tail. Untidy coat that is thin on the body and consisting mainly of topcoat of coarser guard hairs, denser on the underparts. Sweet temperament, a boy who likes to give you a lick!

NORWEGIAN FOREST ADULT FEMALE

1ST CC TIPPER’S TIGANLEA PRINCESS DAYNA (67 31et) F 09.12.04 Tortie Tabby & White

A well-grown mature lady of 4 years with strong bone development. Broad triangular head with all sides equal & almost straight profile. Firm chin, her bite appeared to be level but few incisors remaining. Large ears with a broad base and set high & open and following the lines of the head. No tufts but lovely long inner furnishing. Her eyes could be more wide open but they are of oval shape in an oblique setting. Long muscular body with strong limbs and large feet with tufted toes. Bushy tail that could be a fraction longer for balance. Nicely prepared double coat with a dense woolly undercoat and coarser topcoat. Good length to the coat with a ruff & knickerbockers. Clean white contrasting with bright tortie colouration. Gentle nature and shown in excellent condition.

2ND MANSELL’S FORESTSHADOW CHLOE (67 31ats) F 18.04.08 Blue Silver Tabby

An elegant girl of 17 months & of a good size for her age. Triangular head with a straight profile, good chin and level bite. Large tall ears set high & open and following the lines of the head. Large oval eyes in an oblique setting but set a fraction deep. Long muscular body carried high on strong limbs with large feet and tufted toes. Bushy tail of reasonable length. Nicely prepared coat but of summer length & shorter on the body with a slight ruff. Coat double with the topcoat developing. She was a little unhappy but not a problem to handle.

3RD MUSWELL’S NORDLIGDROM ANNAKEEGA (67 20) F 30.06.06 Brown Tabby

A well-prepared sweet girl of 3 years. Triangular head a fraction longer than wide with an almost straight profile. Level bite and deep chin that rounds off a little at the tip. Large ears set wide apart but she tends to hold them upright rather than open but with lovely long inner furnishing. Lovely expressive green eyes, large & wide open, oval in shape & in an oblique setting. Fairly long body, not as heavy as expected when handled. Long limbs with large feet and lovely toe tufts. Long bushy tail. Dense double coat with a woolly undercoat and coarser topcoat. Shown in lovely condition and easy to handle.

BOB HERMON’S CH ADFURLO AISLING (67 31t) F 06.04.04 Brown Tabby & White

A well-grown mature lady of 4 years with a very gentle nature. Triangular head with all sides equal, strong chin and level bite though few teeth remaining. Large ears with a broad base & inner furnishing, set high & wide apart. Very expressive large eyes of a lovely deep green colour though of course no points for this. Strong muscular body with strong limbs, large feet with tufted toes and lovely long bushy tail. Well-developed double coat with a woolly undercoat and topcoat of coarser glossy guard hairs. Nicely presented with clean white contrasting with patches of ticked tabby pattern.

MAINE COON SILVER TABBY SERIES KITTEN

1ST & BOB BARLETTA’S COONARIA DELILAH (64 41esw) F 28.03.09 Tortie Silver Tabby & White

A pretty girl of 5 months with very attractive colouring. A lively girl who was very wriggly when out of her pen which made it difficult to assess her bite. Head of medium length & longer than wide. Square muzzle but a little pinched behind at present though probably due to teething at this age. Uniform width to the nose & shallow concave curve to the profile. Deep chin that could be a fraction stronger, her bite appeared to be Ok but I only had a brief glimpse. High cheek bones, her cheeks need to fill out. Large tall ears set high, they could be wider apart but limited by the breadth of her head at this stage of development. Large ear tufts, inner feathering developing. Large eyes, full & round in a slightly oblique aperture and set. Long rectangular body with strong limbs of reasonable bone, large feet with tufted toes. Long tail with quite good furnishing. Soft coat of a shorter length on the body at present with a ruff beginning to develop. Coat double but the undercoat needs to develop further. Classic tabby pattern overlaid with splodges of pale red on a silvery-white agouti base. Oyster markings visible on the body and very attractive leg markings of bars & spots contrasting with the silvery-white base. Lovely clean white with white on the feet, chest and tummy. A sweet-natured girl shown in lovely condition.

USUAL ABYSSINIAN KITTEN

1ST & BOB HOOKEY’S LOVELYNX ET SETI-RA (23) F 16.02.09

A lively girl of 7 months. Head a little out of balance at present with huge ears but I expect she will grow into them! Head a moderate wedge with good width between the ears tapering to a rounded muzzle that could be a little broader. Just a very slight nose bump in profile mainly created by a nose bump, shallow chin and level bite. Cupped ears set wide apart. Large eyes in an oriental setting though they could be of a more rounded almond shape. Elegant body that needs to fill out with elegant limbs to balance & small oval paws. Tapering tail with good thickness at the base. Dense coat that lies close to the body, the overall colour could be richer but clearly ticked with black on an apricot base. Good facial markings with pale “specs” around the eyes and good colour to her chin. Slightly darker spine line and black tail tip but rather heavy inner leg barring on the front limbs. Shown in lovely condition, lively when out but OK when she settled.

SORREL ABYSSINIAN KITTEN

1ST & BOB WALKER’S MIKKAR FIRE APACHE (23a) M 10.02.09

A strong muscular boy of 7 months, very well-grown and looking at the size of his feet probably going to be a large lad. Head a moderate wedge with rounded contours & good width between the ears tapering via a whisker indentation to a rounded muzzle. Good nose break in profile but his chin could be deeper. He was very reluctant to let me examine his bite though it appeared to be OK from a brief glimpse. Large cupped ears set wide apart & large eyes of rounded almond shape in an oriental setting, good amber colour already. Body a little long with long legs and large oval feet. Tapering tail with good thickness at the base. Short dense & close-lying coat of a rich overall colour with chocolate ticking developing well on an apricot base. Slightly darker spine line & chocolate tail tip. Good colour to this chin and chocolate on his hocks. Well-broken necklet on his chest. Shown in lovely condition.

DEVON REX KITTEN, MALE

1ST CRAGG’S WAKANDA BACKTO OURROOTS (33a 40 11) M 09.06.09

A very sweet seal tabby point baby of only 3½ months with a charming temperament. Head a short broad wedge with high cheek bones, short nose & strong muzzle. Good stop in profile plus a small nose bump. Level bite and OK chin. Huge ears with a very broad base set low & wide apart. Large blue eyes of oval shape set on a slant & wide apart. Body of medium length with a broad chest, elegant limbs and quite long tail. Very little coat on the body at preset, longer on the tail & feet where the rexing is developing. Fur on his face but wrinkly forehead. Very easy to handle, a promising kitten as long as he gets his coat.

2ND WAUGH’S MAGICAL PESKY PIXIEPAWS (33a 30sw) M 21.05.09

A slightly older kitten of not quite 4 months, a black silver spotted & white. Head a quite short, broad wedge with a whisker break and broad muzzle. Quite short nose & OK stop in profile, it can be felt but his cheek bones could be more noticeable. Level bite and good chin. Large ears with rounded tips and a very broad base that start low, fairly wide apart. Large eyes of oval shape set wide & on a slant. Long neck & body of medium length with elegant limbs and tiny oval paws. Quite long, fine tail. Downy tummy & very short coat on his body & not long enough to curl. Wavy fur on his tail. Easy to handle & shown in lovely condition.

DEVON REX KITTEN, FEMALE

1ST & BOB WARRENER’S REXIRU BLACK ORCHID (33a 36) F 23.03.09

A well-grown black smoke girl of nearly 6 months. Head a short broad wedge with a whisker break and strong muzzle. Short nose & high cheek bones but I would prefer a more definite stop in profile. Level bite. Large low-set ears with a broad base & rounded tips with small tufts. Wide set eyes that are a touch full though better when she relaxed. Slender neck and longish body with elegant limbs and oval paws, quite long, tapering tail. Well-covered with a loosely waved coat that is a touch long but of an even length on the body. Crinkly whiskers. A wriggly but gentle girl.

EGYPTIAN MAU KITTEN, MALE

1ST MURTON’S MELISSAIDAN THAT’S AMORE (78 30s) M 09.05.09 Silver Spotted

A well-grown boy of only 4 months of a good size & weight for his age. Head a slightly rounded wedge of medium length, just a slight contour to the profile & his muzzle could be a little broader. Uniform width to the nose, good chin and level bite. His ears could be a little larger and they are set a touch upright. His eyes too could be larger but of rounded almond shape, the colour developing. Long body, strong & muscular with elegant limbs to balance. Tapering tail of medium length. Lovely coat of good density and close-lying. Black markings on a silvery-white agouti base with lots of small spots on the body. Good head markings with long mascara lines. Spots & bars on the limbs & ringed tail with a dark tip. Lovely condition and temperament.

EGYPTIAN MAU KITTEN, FEMALE

1ST & BOB CASE’S STARRSAILOR MAUVELOUSMISTY (78 30s) F 23.12.08

Silver Spotted An older kitten of nearly 9 months with a typical Mau expression. A strong well-grown girl of a lovely weight for her size. Head a slightly rounded wedge of medium length with good width between the ears and gently rounded muzzle. Her profile is a little straight & her chin could be a fraction stronger. Level bite. Uniform width to the nose. Well-set moderately large ears with a broad base and ample width between them. Straight-set eyes of rounded almond shape, lovely gooseberry green colour. Graceful body with elegant limbs & dainty almost round feet. Tapering tail of medium length. Close-lying coat of medium length with a silvery-white agouti base. Clear silver apart form a tarnished locket on her chest. Clearly spotted with lovely leg markings, spotted tummy and good head markings with long mascara lines. Shown in lovely condition and easy to handle.

2ND DAVIS’S MELISSAIDAN ANGEL EYES (78 30s) F 15.03.09

Silver Spotted A well-grown girl of 6 months. Head a medium to long wedge with a rounded muzzle and uniform width to the nose. I would prefer her ears & eyes to be a little larger. Her ears are held a little upright & her eyes could be set straighter though of a good green colour already. Muscular body with elegant limbs to balance & medium length tail. Soft dense coat of medium length & close-lying. Clearly spotted with black markings on a silvery white agouti base. Spotted tummy, spots & bars on the limbs and ringed tail with a black tip. Shown in lovely condition and easy to handle.

3RD MURTON’S MELISSAIDAN MAMA MIA (78 30s) F 09.05.09 Silver Spotted

A younger kitten of 4½ months but well-grown and of a good weight for her size. Head a medium wedge with slightly rounded contours though her profile is rather straight. Good chin and level bite but her muzzle is a touch fine. Medium ears with a broad base but they are set a fraction high. Good green eye colour developing but her eyes could be set a little straighter. Unfortunately her right eye is smaller than her left; this appeared to be a problem with her eye socket. She has a slight squint in her right eye probably due to the difference in size between her eyes. Muscular body with elegant limbs but I would prefer a slightly longer tail for balance. Close-lying coat of medium length & good density. Distinct spotted pattern with charcoal markings on a silvery-white agouti base. Good head markings with long mascara lines. Spotted tummy & well-marked limbs. Easy to handle.
