Ub Show Cambria Cat Club 10.10.09 Mrs Val Anderson

Thanks to Elaine, Lisa & John for the invitation to judge at this friendly show. The gift of Welsh cheese was very tasty and much appreciated. I had a lovely day with my steward Heather Roper. Although Heather is new to stewarding she is willing to learn and showed a keen interest in all the different breeds we handled, I look forward to our next engagement together.

OPEN CLASSES ORIGINAL FOREIGN PREMIER MALE

GPC REEVES’S GR PR ANNERA LYNX (23) MN 20.09.06

Usual Abyssinian A big strong boy of 3 years with a lovely gentle nature. Head a broad wedge if a fraction long with a whisker indentation and broad rounded muzzle. Good nose break in profile plus a nose bump. Level bite. Large cupped ears set wide apart. Large pale green eyes of rounded almond shape in an oriental setting. Elegant body of medium build with limbs to balance & oval paws. Long tapering tail with good thickness at the base. Short fine & close-lying coat and despite he was moulting with a lovely glossy sheen. Distinct black ticking on an apricot base. OK facial markings & darker spine line but short black heels & faint inner barring on the front limbs. Shown in lovely condition.

2ND (RGPC WITHHELD) RICE’S PR DIADEM MOODY BLUE (33a 36a) MN 28.03.05

Devon Rex A mature blue smoke boy of 4 years but his coat was not looking at its best. Pixie look to his head, a quite short broad wedge with a quite short nose & quite good stop in profile. Level bite & shallow chin. Large ears set low but they could be wider apart. Expressive eyes set wide apart and on a slight slant. Elegant & muscular body carried high on long legs and long fine tail. Coat on the body thin and of an uneven length, very loosely waved. Denser coat on the limbs & paws and better rexing there. He was a little naughty when handled but not a problem. Reserve withheld because of his coat.

ORIGINAL FOREIGN PREMIER FEMALE

GPC SHAMMAS’S GR CH & PR MIKKAR BLUE CANDYTUFT (23c) FN 30.07.01

Blue Abyssinian Mature girl of 8 years with lovely type. Head a balanced moderate wedge with gently rounded contours & good width between the ears, whisker indentation and rounded muzzle. Good nose break in profile, level bite and good chin. Large well-set ears and expressive eyes. Elegant body of a good weight for her size with elegant limbs and tapering tail. Moulting heavily so her coat was probably not at its best, very dense and hence not as close-lying as could be. Warm overall colour with blue ticking on a pale mushroom base on the body, warmer colour to the underparts. Good facial markings. A wriggly but gentle-natured girl shown in lovely condition.

2ND (RGPC WITHHELD) ARNOLD’S PR PAPAVER PAX (33 31cts) FN 07.09.04

Cornish Rex An elegant lilac silver tabby & white girl with a sweet nature. Head a medium wedge narrowing to a rounded muzzle with an almost straight profile. Level bite & good chin. Quite large ears set rather high, her eyes are a little large and a touch full. Elegant & hard muscular body carried high on elegant limbs, quite long tapering tail. Well-covered with a loosely waved coat that is a little long and unfortunately looks rather untidy. Tail well-covered with wavy fur & long whiskers. Shown in lovely condition & although she had a bit of a grumble it was aimed at her neighbours. Sorry to withhold, I liked her type but she was having a bad hair day!

MAINE COON SILVER TABBY SERIES KITTEN, MALE

1ST & BOB HARDWICK’S RUTTERKIN CHESTERBARSTOW (64 41ds) M 02.05.09

Red Silver Tabby A young boy of 5 months with a broad balanced head & nice expression; a well-grown young man of a lovely weight for his size. Head of medium length & slightly longer than wide with a well placed nasal bridge. Uniform width to the nose & high cheek bones, his cheeks need to fill out. Shallow concave curve to the profile & square muzzle. Level bite & deep but rounded chin. Large tall ears with a broad base tapering to tufted tips and looking pointed, inner feathering. His ears are set high but well apart. Expressive eyes, full and round in a slightly oblique aperture and set. Strong rectangular body with good bone development. Strong limbs & large round feet with tufted toes but his tail could be a little longer for balance and is a little swollen at the tip. Coat developing with a slight ruff & the beginnings of a shirt front, flowing tail and shaggy belly fur. Double coat with classic red tabby markings on a silvery-white agouti base though the hall lighting made it look rather creamy. Barred limbs. Lovely condition and temperament.

MAINE COON SILVER TABBY SERIES KITTEN, FEMALE

1ST ZECH’S ZECOONA MIZZ DYNAMITE (64 41sw) F 04.05.09

Black Silver Tabby & White A young girl of 5 months and just 2 days younger than the boy. Huge ears making her head look out of proportion at present. Her head is longer than wide and needs to broaden & her nose is a trifle long. High cheek bones, uniform width to the nose & square muzzle that could be a little broader. Just a slight concave curve to the profile, level bite and deep chin that rounds off a little at the tip. Tall tapering ears that are set a little close but limited by the width of her head at present. Large tufts & good inner feathering. Expressive eyes, full & round in a slightly oblique aperture and set. Lovely rectangular body shape though she needs to fill out her frame. Reasonably strong limbs and large feet with tufted toes. Long flowing tail to balance. Silky coat of a shorter length on the body at present but her tail is well-furnished. Obviously a silver with very little tarnishing, just a little on her face. Good classic tabby pattern emphasised by the shorter coat length. Good head markings with a tabby “M” on the forehead. Lovely clear leg markings but her tail is a little solid. White on her feet, chest & tummy. Shown in lovely condition and easy to handle.

USUAL ABYSSINIAN ADULT

BOB SHAMMAS’S GR CH MIKKAR ASHANTI WARRIOR (23) M 31.12.07

A young boy of only 21 months, strong & muscular though he could be a little larger overall. Head a moderate wedge with rounded contours. Good nose break in profile plus a nose bump. Level bite but his chin could be a little deeper. Large cupped ears set wide apart and large expressive eyes of good shape & set. Muscular & elegant body of medium build with elegant legs and a quite long tapering tail with good thickness at the base. Short fine & close-lying coat clearly ticked with black on a rich apricot base & warm overall colour. Darker spine line extending to a black tail tip. Shown in excellent condition. A gentle fellow though preferring to hide under his blanket.

AC SILVER ABYSSINIAN ADULT

1ST CC & BOB BARRETT’S HIGHLIGHT PERSEPHONE (23as) F 14.10.06

Sorrel Silver A mature girl of not quite 3 years. Head a moderate wedge with rounded contours, good width between the ears & whisker indentation but her muzzle is a little fine. Deep nose break in profile and very strong chin, her bite was a little suspect but only 3 incisors remaining so difficult to be sure. Large, reasonably cupped ears set wide apart. Large eyes set well apart & of a good green colour; a little full but not helped by huge pupils. Elegant & muscular body of medium build & size with limbs to balance. Quite long tail & thick at the base. Very dense coat plus she was moulting but it lies close to the body. Obviously a silver and clearly ticked with chocolate, the base coat is a little creamy but not helped by they yellowy hall light. Darker spine line, chocolate tail tip and some colour on the heels. A lively girl with a gentle nature.

BROWN SPOTTED BENGAL ADULT

1ST CC & BOB EYRE-BROOK’S WOTHORPE RUBY TUESDAY (76 30) F 07.01.09

A young girl of only 9 months but well-grown with a strong muscular body. Good head, a broad medium wedge slightly longer than wide with a large nose & broad muzzle but I would prefer a little more curve to the profile. Level bite with lovely teeth. Well-set ears that are not too large. Large eyes of rounded oval shape set on a slight slant and of a good green colour. Long sleek body & muscular limbs. Moderately long tail that tapers a little. Lovely feel to her coat which is soft & dense but is a little long. The overall colour could be richer, warmer colour to the underparts. Clearly spotted with large rosetted spots and lots of gold dusting. Spotted tummy, well-marked limbs and ringed tail with a dark tip. Shown in lovely condition, she didn’t like her neighbours but was fine in her pen.

ABYSSINIAN ASSESSMENT ADULT MERIT TO: BARRETT’S HIGHLIGHT TOBIAS (23g) M 15.08.05

Cream A lively boy with a very affectionate nature. Head a moderate wedge with rounded contours & good width between the ears. Whisker indentation and rounded muzzle, just a slight nose break in profile. Level bite and shallow chin. Well-set, quite large, cupped ears. Expressive large eyes of rounded almond shape in an oriental setting. Elegant & muscular body of medium build with long limbs and oval paws. Long tail, thick at the base & slightly tapering. Dense close-lying coat with a fine texture but a fraction long. Soft warm overall colour though not helped by the hall lighting. Subtle cream ticking on a pale cream base. Free from unwanted barring, subtle head markings and slightly darker spine line. Some acne on his chin but otherwise shown in lovely condition and he has a super temperament. Happy to award the Merit. He has amazing temperament for an entire boy & this was the reason for him winning my Judge’s Choice rosette.

Medium ears, not too tall and set wide apart. Large pale green eyes of oval shape. Long sleek body with muscular limbs of medium length but his tail is a little long and tapering and is a little suspect near the tip. Short dense coat though it could be more luxurious. Distinct spotted pattern with large arrowhead spots but the overall colour could be richer. Clear facial markings, spotted tummy, barred limbs and ringed tail with a dark tip. Shown in lovely condition, he was very affectionate when in his pen.

Smoke A young lad of 15 months shown in lovely condition. Head a slightly rounded wedge of medium length with a typical worried look. Uniform width to the nose, good profile and chin & level bite. Well-set ears and straight-set eyes of pale green though it was difficult to see the colour in the hall light. Muscular neck and strong muscular body with limbs to balance & tapering tail. Short coat, silky & fine with a pale silver undercoat tipped with black. Spotted pattern but a little solid down his back though the coat was thinner there and probably changing. Coat soft & dense with a luxurious feel. Asymmetrical marbled pattern of black & brown blotches on an ivory base. Large slightly puffed nose leather of pink with a dark outline.
