Wendy McQuilkin Bucks Oxon & Berks Cat Society show 19/9/09

Many thanks to Barbara and her team for my invite to the show. I really enjoyed my day and I thought the idea of everyone having a rosette plus badges for the winners was lovely. I must also thank my hard working steward Emma for her great company and for getting me through a lot of cats.

AC BIRMAN CHAMPION MALE

Two very nice boys in this class and not a lot to choose between them.

GRCC GRIFFITHS Ch MUSCAR JENICOL DEDEFRE (13c4) Lilac Point 1/8/08.

Well grown, strong boy with thick set legs and strong paws. Medium head with nicely placed ears and almost round eyes of a beautiful blue. Small dip to profile and full cheeks with a firm chin. Gloves very nice, just scalloping a little on the right foot. Socks and gauntlets are matching and snowy white. Tail just a tad short for perfection but that is just being picky. Soft lilac points on a pale magnolia coat which was well presented and of a lovely texture.

RES GRCC SIMMONDS CH MONKCHIP TOBIAS (13c5) Red Point 16/2/08.

Substantial boy with good body weight and excellent bone. Broad head with rounded skull and well placed ears of a rich red. Almost round eyes of a good blue but paler at the edges than the winner. Medium nose with small dip to profile and full cheeks and well developed chin. Firm legs with beautifully marked feet all round. Lovely red points colouring contrasting with a pale cream coat which was well presented and nicely furnished tail to balance.

AC BIRMAN CHAMPION FEMALE

GRCC PERCHARDS CH DEMILUNE JESSE OFURPRITY (13c11) Seal Tabby 10/9/05.

Mature girl of four years with very nice type and profile. Substantial body and frame with good body weight and length of body. Beautifully marked feet with excellent contrasts to the points colour. Balanced head with neat ears, small dip to profile and full cheeks and chin. Almost round eyes of a good blue, just fading at the edges. Nice barring to all the points, tail just showing a little brindling but full and of good length. Excellent preparation and lovely temperament.

RES GRCC PERCHARDS CH CLOUDYFOLD YELSEL (13C8) Blue tortie 13/3/05.

Not a lot to choose between this girl and the winner. Beautiful, feminine girl who was beautifully prepared with an excellent coat. Medium head with well set ears, lovely eyes for shape and colour. Small dip to profile on a medium nose with full cheeks and chin with level bite. Nicely marked feet all round, sparkling white and points colour a mixture of soft blue and cream. I loved the expression on this girl, very pretty. Excellent temperament.

SEAL POINT BIRMAN ADULT, MALE

1CC & BOB BUSH’S BIRSARIS SEALOF PERFECTION 3/9/08.

Nicely grown boy, only a year old and needing to mature. Rounded skull with neat ears, almost round eyes of a good blue which pale at the edges. Medium nose with dip to profile with full cheeks and slightly tapered chin. Well marked feet all round with good contrasts, just a little brindling to the mask. Tail to balance on a long body. Nice temperament.

SEAL POINT BIRMAN ADULT, FEMALE

1 CC SIMMONDS GAYEMAUDI CHINA DOLL 12/7/08.

I was quite undecided whether to award the CC to this girl and she could have done with more preparation but there was no real reason to withhold. Quite small for her age but nicely proportioned and well balanced. Good width to her head with well placed ears, small dip to profile and almost round eyes of a good blue. Cheeks full and round with well developed chin and level bite. Gloved slightly scalloped between the toes but acceptable and the gauntlets and socks are very nice. Soft coat of nice texture and a clear pale beige. Tail to balance, excellent temperament.

2 RICHARDSONS ADATELO DANCING QUEEN 22/9/08.

Young lady just a year old and not very happy today, I hope her temperament improves. Medium head with a rounded skull and neat ears. Eyes quite pale in colour but of almost round shape. Small dip to profile on a medium nose with firm cheeks and chin with level bite. Level gloves and matching socks and gauntlets, all sparkling white. Soft coat with nice contrasts and well furnished tail to balance and well prepared.

BLUE POINT BIRMAN ADULT, MALE

1 CC PEARSONS JASIMSAF CLARET 12/5/08.

Young male with good balanced type showing a broad head and medium ears placed well apart. Eyes of a good blue and almost round shape. Nose a little straight in profile, I would like to see more of a dip but the cheeks and full and the chin is firm with a level bite. Feet marking nice all round but there is some staining to the gauntlets which I spoke to the owner about. Excellent bone and well grown body with strong paws. Tail to balance, showing some stud tail but well furnished. Excellent temperament.

FEMALE BOB ONLY Bush’s GRCH Tarkusha Saffiya 13/5/06.

Lovely girl with a well grown, strong body and good bone. Medium head with well placed ears and almost round eyes of a good blue. Full cheeks and firm chin with level bite. All feet well marked and level with soft blue points colour contrasting with a bluish white coat which was well prepared. Tail to balance.

1 CC MEDLOCK & WHITWORTH’S KITTAH HERA (13c4) Lilac Point 6/8/08.

Very pretty girl with balanced type and lovely expression. Medium head with ears set well apart, dip to profile on a medium nose and excellent blue eyes of almost round shape. Soft magnolia coat of lovely texture and length contrasting with pinking grey points and well marked feet all round. Well grown body with good muscle and strong bone and nicely furnished tail to balance. Lovely temperament, she was one of my nicest Birmans of the day.

TABBY OR TORTIE TABBY POINT BIRMAN KITTEN 2

1ST & BOB W/H PEARSONS JASIMSAF DANTE DREAM (13C12) Blue Tabby Point MN 20/2/09.

Sweet little boy of almost 8 months. Medium head with nicely placed ears showing small thumb prints. Almost round eyes of a good blue at the centre but pale at the rims Small dip to profile on a medium nose, muzzle looking a little pinched at the moment, chin is slightly tapered and showing level bite. Right glove has a solid toe which was my main reason for withholding the first place but the socks and gauntlets are ok. Nicely grown body with good barring to all points with tail to balance.

BROWN OR BLUE TABBY (INC BI-COLOUR) MAINE COON KITTEN, MALE 

1 BOB GILLMANS MABALAKAT ROTHKO (64 41w) Brown Classic tabby with White 23/2/09.

Very striking boy showing excellent size for his age with wonderful bone and length to the body. Head medium in length with large ears set high and well apart and showing wonderful tufts and ear furnishings. Eyes full and round with slightly oblique aperture and set. Good square muzzle and firm chin, with nose of uniform width and showing a shallow concave curve in profile. Substantial legs with large paws and long tail in balance with the body. My only criticism is his lack of pattern but the coat is long and thick with a soft undercoat and ruff developing. Lovely boy with an excellent temperament.

1 PC & BOB BUSH’S PR KUTAZA KAILIF 28/1/08.

Lovely boy showing excellent size with good muscle and bone. Rounded skull with well placed, neat ears and small dip to profile on a medium nose. Very nice eye colour of a deep blue and almost round shape with full cheeks and firm chin with level bite. Gloves even and straight across, gauntlets a little short but acceptable and sparkling white. Soft well prepared coat with dark brown points contrasting with a clear pale beige coat of good length. Nicely furnished tail to balance. I really liked this boy and he was a pleasure to judge.

Another big solid lad with wonderful bone and size. Broad head with nicely set ears and medium nose with small dip in profile. Excellent eye colour and almost round shape, with full cheeks and slightly tapered chin with level bite. Beautifully marked feet all round and all sparkling white. Lovely coat of off white contrasting nicely with soft blue grey points colour. Tail to balance. Beautifully prepared and a pleasure to judge.

BOB ONLY MEDLOCK & WHITWORTHS CH & PR KITTAH ANDROMACHE 6/3/07.

1 PC w/h MONTANANA’S PR CARAMLEIGH BRIAR ROSE 24/4/03.

Very beautiful girl who was excellently prepared with a full profuse coat. Broad head and well placed ears and showing a small dip to profile with full cheeks and chin with level bite. Legs of medium length and thick set with strong paws. Right glove very nice but in my opinion the left glove goes just past the dew pad which is why I withheld the PC. I looked long and hard as she is such a beautiful girl but decided I could not award the certificate. Socks and gauntlets are even and matching and were sparkling white. Full tail to balance with the body. Lovely girl.

RED, OR CREAM POINT BIRMAN NEUTER, MALE

Very attractive boy with such a soppy temperament. Soft cream to all points contrasting with an off white coat which was beautifully prepared. Medium head with rounded skull and ears set well apart. Excellent eyes of a deep blue and medium nose showing correct dip in profile. Cheeks full and chin well developed. Well grown body with a strong frame and firm legs showing very nicely marked feet all round. Tail to balance although a little sparse in furnishings at the moment. Lovely lad.

2 HATLEYS PR BIRMOON CHILLI PEPPER (13c5) Red Point 15/3/05.

Another very nice boy who would have been the winner but today there was a fault in the end of his tail which was confirmed by the duty vet. Such a shame as he was presented beautifully with a full profuse coat and looking his best. Lovely head with well set neat ears placed well apart. Lovely expression with excellent eye colour and good profile showing a well developed chin and full cheeks. Well grown body with rich red points colour and sparkling white feet which were well marked. I hope the problem with his tail is not permanent.

RED, CREAM OR TORTIE POINT BIRMAN NEUTER FEMALE

1 PC & BOB TARR’S GRCH & PR TARKUSHA COLUMBINE (13c6) Seal Tortie Point 15/8/01.

Very pretty girl who showed herself off well today. Lovely head with neat ears set well apart. Excellent eye colour and shape with medium nose showing small dip to profile. Full cheeks and well developed chin with level bite. Rich tortie colours to all points contrasting with sparkling well marked feet. Well grow body with good weight and full tail to balance. Only one in the class but a worthy winner.

TABBY POINT BIRMAN NEUTER, MALE.

This was such a hard choice to make between these two lovely boys, both deserved the certificate but the winner just had the edge.

Mature boy of excellent size with wonderful bone. Lovely head and ear set with full cheeks and slightly tapered chin with level bite. Dip to profile on a medium nose and lovely expression. Thick legs and strong paws showing neat gloves and even socks and gauntlets. Barring to all points with a silky coat of good length. Presented in lovely condition.

2 MAYNARDS GAYEMAUDI BLUEZELAH (13c12) Blue Tabby 11/10/08.

I really loved this boy, not quite a year old but showing excellent size and again, with excellent bone. Excellent coat, pale and of silky texture. Head with good breadth and nicely set ears with small dip to profile and full cheeks. His chin is firm with level bite. Lovely eyes for shape and colour. Firm paws with nice markings all round and sparkling white. Beautifully presented and a pleasure to judge. Hopefully sometime I will get the chance to award him the certificate.
