A most enjoyable North West Cat Club Show. Many thanks to Lesley for the invitation to judge and to the club for their hospitality.

AC BURMESE GR PR MALE

Three lovely boys.

1 GPC HUGHES’S PR MAHARANI LORENZO 27b MN 2.11.06

Very weighty twenty month old boy but maintaining good muscle tone. Medium length body with a well rounded chest, proportionate shapely legs and oval paws. Well shaped tail of good length to balance body just a trifle thick overall. Coat a trifle long but close lying and of good texture. Warm toned medium to darker chocolate in colour with darker contrast masking to face and ears. Very good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of good size. Slight flattening to brow, good nose break, nose a bit long but straight. Level bite and fair depth chin. Good size and shape to yellow eyes well spaced. Nice natured.

RGPC GORMAN’S PR MOLYNMEUX TREUXBLEUX 27a MN 7.2.07

Well grown nineteen month old boy, very weighty and with good muscle tone. Medium to long body with proportionate shapely legs and largish oval paws. Well shaped tail of good length to balance body. Coat a trifle long but close lying and of good texture. Medium blue in colour, nice and even with desired silvering to rounded areas. Very good width to gently rounded top of head between goodly sized ears, wide at base but held a trifle low. Slight rounding to brow, good nose break, nose a trifle long and rounds at tip. Level bite and medium depth chin. Good size and shape to pale yellow eyes well set. Nice natured.

1 GPC BROWNING’S PR ADMILBU SUNNI SUNLIGHT 27h FN 8.5.00

Delightful, mature eight plus year old lady with a good firm feel to her. Medium length, solid body with proportionate shapely legs and neat oval paws. Tail a fraction short to balance body and a trifle thick overall. Coat a trifle long, slightly dense so could be closer lying but of good texture. Prettily mingled medium chocolate with shades of red. Fairly short blunt wedge. Very good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of good size. Slight rounding to brow, good nose break and fairly short, straight nose. Level bite and medium depth, level chin. Good size and shape to pale chartreuse eyes well spaced. Lovely temperament.

RGPC TAYLOR’S PR RAWEKE CLEOPATRA 27 FN 12.3.07

Elegant young lady of eighteen months, deceptively weighty and with a good firm feel to her. Medium length body, proportionate slender legs and neat oval paws. Well shaped tail of good length to balance body. Coat a trifle long but close lying and of very good texture. Lovely sheen to rich, deep brown colour. Very good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of generous size. Slight rounding to brow, fairly good nose break, fairly short, straight nose which shallows in depth to tip. Level bite and medium depth chin. Typical ‘burmese’ expression to widely set eyes of good size and shape, yellow in colour. Sweet natured.

Mature six plus year old boy. Lovely head of medium length and of good breadth being slightly less than the length. Fairly full cheeks and high cheek bones. Well balanced and with shallow concave curve at the nasal bridge being equidistant from the ear line and the tip of the nose and with nose of uniform width. Tall, large ears, well feathered, wide at base, set high but well apart and tapering to appear pointed at tufted tips. Full and round shape to golden eyes, spaced wide apart and with slightly oblique aperture and set, yellow in colour. Square, strong muzzle with a strong chin and level bite. Large body, solid and muscular and with good breadth to chest. Long body, square rump and with proportionate length substantial legs giving rectangular appearance. Large round paws with tufts emanating from under paws. Moderately long neck. Long tail, wide at base and tapering towards the tip and with long profuse, flowing fur. Well prepared full coat of good undercoat with more substantial glossy top coat of good texture. Fur shorter on head, neck and shoulders and lengthening down back, flanks and tail. Full breeches, shaggy belly fur and good frontal ruff. Brown Tabby and White of warm copper agouti ground colour with black tabby markings and white to chin, chest, front paws, centre of tummy and back boots. Lovely temperament.

Only ten months of age so still developing and maturing. Head is medium in length but needs to develop more breadth to balance. Fairly full cheeks and high cheek bones. Shallow concave curve at the nasal bridge being equidistant from the ear line and the tip of the nose and with nose of uniform width. Tall, large ears, feathered, wide at base, set high but well apart and tapering to appear pointed at tufted tips. Full and round shape to eyes, spaced wide apart and with slightly oblique aperture and set, yellow in colour. Good square muzzle with a medium depth chin and level bite. Large body, solid and muscular and with good breadth to chest. Long body, square rump and with proportionate length substantial legs giving rectangular appearance. Large round paws with tufts emanating from under paws. Moderately long neck. Long tail, wide at base and tapering towards the tip but needs to develop more flowing fur. Good undercoat with more substantial glossy top coat developing. Good texture which could have benefited from a little more prep. Some breeches and shaggy belly fur, slight frontal ruff. Brown Classic Tabby and White of golden ground colour with white to bib, chin, front paws, centre of tummy and back high boots. Clear black facial markings but body pattern not very distinct.

SILVER TABBY MAINE COON NEUTER

Handsome two plus year old boy. Medium in length head of good breadth being slightly less than the length. Fairly full cheeks and high cheek bones. Well balanced and with a shallow concave curve at the nasal bridge being equidistant from the ear line and the tip of the nose and with nose of uniform width. Good tall ears, nicely feathered, wide at base, set high but well apart and tapering to appear pointed at neat, tufted tips. Full and round shape to pale green eyes, spaced wide apart and with slightly oblique aperture and set and with a lovely expression. Fairly strong muzzle with a medium depth chin and level bite. Large body, solid and muscular and with good breadth to chest. Long body, square rump with proportionate length substantial legs giving rectangular appearance. Large round paws with tufts emanating from under paws. Moderately long neck. Long tail, wide at base and tapering towards the tip and with long profuse, flowing fur. Excellent coat with good frontal ruff good undercoat with more substantial glossy, top coat of good texture. Fairly full breeches and shaggy belly fur. Silver Tabby and White with silver agouti ground colour and black markings, classic pattern fairly well defined and white to inverted ‘V’ on nose, lips, chin, chest, front paws, centre of tummy and back legs. Beautifully prepared and sweet natured.

Two and a half year old boy shown in lovely condition. Head is medium in length and of good breadth with fairly full cheeks and high cheek bones. Shallow concave curve at the nasal bridge being equidistant from the ear line and the tip of the nose and with nose of uniform width. Tall, large ears, excellent feathering, wide at base, set high but well apart and tapering to appear pointed at nicely tufted tips. Full and round shape to yellow eyes, spaced wide apart and with slightly oblique aperture and set. Strong muzzle with a medium depth chin, appeared to be marginally undershot but I made allowances as he is otherwise a very nice boy. Large body, solid and muscular and with good breadth to chest. Long body, square rump and with proportionate length, substantial legs giving rectangular appearance. Huge paws with tufts emanating from under paws. Excellent tail, wide at base and tapering towards the tip and with long profuse, flowing fur. Excellent, well prepared coat of good undercoat with more substantial glossy top coat of good texture. Fur shorter on head, neck and shoulders and lengthening down back, flanks and tail. Good breeches, shaggy belly fur and frontal ruff. Red Silver Tabby of pale silvery red agouti ground colour with light red classic tabby pattern. Nice natured.

BRITISH BLACK SILVER TABBY KITTEN

1 & BOB WESTERMANN’S FINEGOLD SILVER BUCKLE 18 F 14.4.08

Five month old kitten of good size and weight with good muscle tone. Head has full cheeks and good breadth to skull with rounded top of head with good width between nice, neat ears set far apart so following the outer contours of the head, small in size and rounded at tips. Overall full round face shape spoilt by being slightly fine at muzzle at present. Rounded brow, nose break could be stronger and straight nose is a trifle long. Level bite and good depth chin. Large and well open eyes set wide apart with colour still developing. Compact body showing short level back, low on legs and with a well rounded chest. Well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Good length tail tapers to slightly fine tip. Coat is fairly short with some density but slightly soft rather than crisp in texture. Black Silver Tabby of pale silver ground colour with black classic markings. Clear facial markings. Good butterfly outline at shoulders with three parallel lines down spine, good oyster shaped patch on right side, slight blurring of shape on left side. Slight tarnishing on muzzle and on all four paws. Sweet natured.

BRITISH AOC SILVER TABBY KITTEN

Just five month old kitten of good size and weight with good muscle tone. Head has full cheeks and good breadth to skull with rounded top of head with good width between medium sized ears, rounded at tips, set far apart so following the outer contours of the head. Round face with rounded brow and fairly short, straight, broad nose. Slightly untidy bite at present but she was obviously teething, shallow chin. Large, orange eyes well open and set wide apart. Compact body with a short level back, low on legs and with a nicely rounded chest. Short legs and firm, rounded paws. Tail a trifle long and tapers to slightly fine tip. Coat is fairly short but needs to develop more density and is still rather soft in texture. Blue Silver Tabby of silvery blue ground colour with very deep toned classic markings. Almost charcoal colour along back, bluer tone over head and down sides. Clear facial markings. Slight tarnishing on muzzle and on all paws. Lovely temperament.

RUSSIAN BLUE KITTEN MALE

Well grown boy, almost an adult with a gentle expression and temperament to match. Short, well balanced wedge from tip of nose to eye line which is equidistant to eye and ear. Good profile line with good angle, level bite and fair depth, level chin. Good, well rounded muzzle and prominent whisker pads. Flat appearance to top of head between large, pointed ears vertically set and with outer line following the outline of the face. Good vivid green eyes set wide apart of good size and almond in shape. Long, elegant body of excellent weight and with good muscle tone. Proportionate, long legs and small oval paws. Good length tail to balance body tapers gently to tip. Fairly short, soft coat with some density but close lying along spine. Double coat more evident and plushy on sides and flanks. Lovely, even medium blue colour and only showing very faint band of colour down hair shaft and minimal paling to roots. Nice silvery sheen over rounded areas of back of ears, muzzle, paws and heels. Faint rings on tail.

RUSSIAN BLUE KITTEN FEMALE

1 STARK’S DUSHENKA XARIABELLA 16a F 5.1.08

Litter sister to the above and with an equally delightful temperament. Flat appearance to top of head between large ears held upright but slightly turned outwards so not quite following the line of the face. Short, well balanced wedge. Good profile line with shallow concave curve but nose to tip spoilt by very slight bump. Level bite but slightly shallow although rounded chin. Rounded muzzle and prominent whisker pads. Pleasing shape and size to green eyes widely set and with a nice expression. Elegant, firm body with proportionate, long legs and neat oval paws with blue pads. Coat fine and short with double coat still developing, more evident on sides than back, I would prefer s slightly softer texture. Medium to deeper blue in colour nice and even across surface but shows faint band of deeper colour down shaft and pales slightly to roots. Very little silvering just on top of head and ears. Rings on tail.

2 SEDGWICK’S CATWO LOVEINTHE MIST 16a F 21.6.08

Very cute kitten of just three months of age, still developing. Well balanced head shows short wedge from the tip of the nose to eyes and equidistant from the eyes to ears. Flat appearance to top of head between the ears. Whisker pads could be more pronounced, rounded muzzle. Blue nose leather. Profile shows straight forehead to upper eye level, very shallow concave curve then nose straight to tip. Level gums (no teeth), good depth, level chin. Large, pointed ears, wide at base and vertically set with the outer line following the outer contours of the face. Eyes set wide apart, very full, almond shape but with a gentle expression, muddy tone to colour which is still changing. Long, body of medium bone and good weight. Proportionate legs to balance body and small oval paws with blue pads. Gently tapering tail could be a fraction longer for perfection to balance body. Soft, fluffy baby coat at present. Lovely even, medium blue in colour but with no silvery sheen. Rings on tail. Sweet natured.

USUAL ABYSSINIAN KITTEN MALE

1 & BOB HOBSON’S TWINKLETOES FIRE DANCER 23 M 4.5.08

Well grown nearly five month old boy. Gently rounded contours to head and gently rounded from top of head to brow. Good, gently rounded width between the ears forming a moderate wedge which tapers to a slightly rounded muzzle. In profile slight nose break then nose straight to tip. Level bite but double upper canines slightly distorting, lower face shape, slightly shallow but level chin. Large, deep cupped ears held slightly too far forwards but with furry inner edges, tufts at tips and set wide apart. Large, expressive, amber eyes set well apart, full almond shape and oriental in set. Medium build and size to body, straight back and rounded rib cage. Long, slender legs and largish oval feet. Tail, thick at base, tapering gently to tip but a fraction short to balance body. Coat is short, fine, dense in texture and close lying. Usual Abyssinian of bright apricot base colour with distinct black ticking, showing clear bands of colour. Pigmentation lines from eye to top of head and pencil lines on cheeks. Pale hair around eyes and dark edge to eyelid. Apricot ears with darker tone at tips. Cream chin and lips. Black tip to tail and black up the hocks. Faint broken necklace.

USUAL ABYSSINIAN KITTEN FEMALE

1 KELSAL’S PONTABY LUCIANA 23 F 20.2.08

Well grown seven month old girl still needing to fill out and develop. Gently rounded contours to head and gently rounded from top of head to brow. Gently rounded width between the ears forming a moderate wedge which tapers to a slightly rounded muzzle, formed by a slight indentation. In profile virtually no nose break then nose line spoilt by slight bump. Level bite but shallow chin. Excellent, large, well cupped ears, pricked and with furry inner edges, tufts at tips and set wide apart. Outer line of the ear follows the outer contours of the face. Large, expressive, amber eyes set well apart, full almond shape and oriental in set. Medium size to body, straight back and rounded rib cage. Slender, long legs and small oval feet. Tail, thick at base, tapering gently to tip and of good length to balance body. Coat is short, fine, dense in texture and close lying. Usual Abyssinian with apricot base colour and black ticking, showing distinct ticking. Pigmentation lines from eye to top of head, pencil lines on cheeks. Pale hair around eyes and dark edge to eyelid. Apricot ears with darker tone at tips. Cream chin and lips. Black ticking colour extending down spine and tail to a black tip and up the hocks. Faint broken necklace. Faint marks at top of limbs.

CORNISH REX KITTEN

1 & BOB DESOLLA’S INDASIA PHANTOM OF THE OPERA 33 17 M 2.3.08

Very well grown nearly seven month old kitten, deceptively weighty and very muscular. High cheekbones to medium wedge with head length about one third greater than the width, narrowing to rounded muzzle. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Lovely profile line with flat skull curving gently at brow and continuing straight to tip. Large ears, set rather high on head, wide at base and tapering to rounded tips. Medium size to oval shaped eyes with top line set almost straight with slight slant to the outer edge to ear. Hard and muscular, medium length, slender body with an elegant neck and well rounded, broad chest. Long, slim legs and small oval paws. Long, fine, tapering tail well covered in wavy fur and fur finishing with a curl at the tip. Good even, short length to dense coat, silky in texture. Well rippled fur all over body; back, sides, tail and well down legs. Excellent temperament, he really sold himself but was unfortunately a bit large to fit in my pocket.

BROWN SPOTTED BENGAL NEUTER

BOB PENNY’S PR HOADHILL FUNTIME FRANKIE 76 30 MN 5.11.06

Lovely, big, nearly two year old boy with a large body, long, sleek, well muscled with a broad chest, long, well boned legs and large rounded paws. Long tail tapers slightly to black tip. Short to medium length coat, lacks density but is soft and luxurious. Brown Spotted of pale rufus ground colour and well defined black and brown markings. Large, well coloured rosettes on sides, a little linkage to spots back from shoulders. Clear ‘M’ on face, strong pencil lines on cheeks, chin straps and vertical streaks over head. Broken lines and spots on legs, rings on tail and spots on tummy. Medium wedge with rounded contours and high cheek bones but I would prefer a little more breadth, head correctly small in proportion to the body. In profile gentle curve from forehead to bridge of nose, slight concave curve to nose then shallows in depth but is straight to tip. Large, broad nose with puffed nose leather. Good, broad muzzle, level bite and fair depth chin. Pronounced whisker pads. Thick muscular neck. Small to medium sized ears, wide at base and rounded at tips. Large, almond shaped, pale green eyes correctly slanted towards the base of the ear. Excellent temperament.

1 PC FIELDING’S NORDIQUESTAR SUPERSHADOW 76 30 MN 6.10.07

Young eleven month old boy with a medium body, long, sleek and muscular with medium length and boned legs and large rounded paws. Longish, slightly tapering tail. Very short coat lacks density but is soft and luxurious in texture. Rich rufus ground colour which has slightly darker overtones. Clear multi-coloured spotting with some rosettes on sides. Good facial markings with ‘M’ on face, pencil lines on cheeks, chin straps and vertical streaks over head. Broken lines and spots on legs, rings on tail and spots on tummy. Good breadth to medium wedge with rounded contours, high cheek bones and head correctly small in proportion to body. In profile gentle curve from forehead to bridge of nose, slight concave curve to nose then straight to tip. Broad muzzle, level bite but shallow chin. Pronounced whisker pads. Thick muscular neck. Small to medium sized ears following the outer contours of the head, wide at base and rounded at tips. Pale green, almond shaped eyes, large and correctly slanted towards the base of the ear. Shy gentle nature.

CHOCOLATE BURMESE KITTEN

Six month old kitten of good size and weight with a good firm feel to her. Medium length body with proportionate, shapely legs and neat oval paws. Well shaped tail needs a fraction more length for perfection. Coat a trifle long and standing out and still kittenish but of fairly good texture. Warm toned, pale to medium chocolate with darker contrast masking to face and ears. Roundish appearance to face rather. Good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of goodly size. Slight rounding to brow, strong nose break, nose a trifle long but straight until rounds at tip. Level bite but shallow chin. Yellow eyes of good size and shape well set. Sweet natured.

LILAC BURMESE KITTEN

1 & BOB McCORMICK’S AUREUS PRETTY PENNY 27c F 26.3.08

Excellent size and weight to this six month old girl with a good firm feel to her. Proportionate shapely legs and neat oval paws. Good length tail just a trifle thick overall. Very mature looking coat fairly short and close lying and of excellent texture. Paleish lilac in colour with slightly sandy overtones and bluey contrast masking to face and ears. Very good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped ears of generous size. Slight rounding to brow, fairly good nose break, nose a trifle long but straight. Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Very good size and shape to yellow eyes well set and with a nice expression. Sweet natured.

A stylish seven year old lady who would have been more pleasurable to judge if her temperament had matched her looks. Fairly short, broad wedge with high cheek bones, strong muzzle and level bite but slightly shallow chin. In profile brow curves back to flat skull and good stop but nose just a trifle long although straight to tip. Well defined whisker break. Large ears set low and wide apart, wide at base and tapering to rounded tips. Well covered in fur with short ear muffs around base and tufts at tips. Well set eyes wide apart and sloping towards the outer edges of ears, large and oval in shape. Weighty, medium length body still well balanced and with good muscle tone. Nice broad chest and slim legs and neat oval paws. Good tail for length nicely tapering to tip and well covered in wavy fur. Mostly well covered in short fur, even in length just slightly sparse around the neck and centre of the tummy. Well rippled along the back, down the sides and partway down the legs. Coat of soft texture overall. Slightly crinkled eyebrows and whiskers.

Sweet natured seven year old lady. Good broad wedge just a trifle long but with high cheek bones, good muzzle, level bite but very shallow chin. Brow curves back to flat skull, good stop but slightly long nose. Well defined whisker break. Ears were held slightly too high rather than set low and wide apart but well covered in fur, large and wide at base and tapering to rounded tips Nice short ear muffs around base and slight tufts at tips. Large oval shaped eyes, set wide apart and sloping towards outer edges of ears. Good muscle tone to medium length body, slender and with a broad chest. Slender neck. Legs shapely rather than slim, small oval paws. Long, tapering tail well covered in wavy but slightly long fur. Coat is a trifle long but even in length and of good soft texture. Slightly sparse around the neck and on the top of her head. Well waved on sides and top of legs but wave less evident along spine. Short eyebrows and whiskers. The set of her ears spoilt that pixie look to her face.
