NOTTS & DERBY CAT CLUB show report, 23rd January, 2010. Judge Patsy YardleyThank you to Heather, who stewarded very efficiently and with affection, and whose expertise on the technicalities of the Master class etc. set up was invaluable. Class 887 Self SH cat, with or without whiteBoC only BoC to Christian’s GMC TEDDY BOY.He was a big chunky blue boy with a coat tending towards semi-longhair, with firm limbs, big paws and a sturdy tail. He had pale green eyes and his Russian-type ears were set high on his strong head. We heard a very faint purr throughout the judging, bless him. Kidd’s GMC DAISY.Here was a sweet black and white girl, medium in size and feminine in build. She had a clear black mask which spread over the top of her head and down her nose, and her attractive green eyes were gazing at me so we had a mutual inspection. Her coat was shedding a little, but she was in good condition. Class 889 Ginger or Any Colour Tortoiseshell Cat, with or without white1 MC and BoC to Creaton and Walker’s GMC RAINBOWCATCHERWe met a clean-patched tortie and white girl, medium in size and of good weight. She had an interesting short tail with a sharp bent point at the end – it was a curious feeling to have one’s hand slide off the end. She had rounded yellowish green eyes which were set on a slight slant and an endearing black beauty spot on the left side of her muzzle plus a patch under her jaw. Her ears were alert and her coat was silky. A friendly girl. Entered for BoC only: Kidd’s MC GARFIELDA big boy! He was a mackerel striped ginger tabby who was at first ultra-relaxed as he lay down on the trolley, but he became a bit cheesed off with us later and lightly smacked my steward when she put him back in his pen – not aggressive in any way though. His coat was dense and he had no white at all on him, even on his chin. He had neat smallish ears, rounded slanting pale yellow eyes and a dark dot on his pink nose. Class 892 Any Colour Non-Pedigree Shorthair Kitten1 and BoC. Dwyer’s JONTYWe were surprised to see that he was still a kitten! He was a great big caramely tabby and white with gorgeous deep yellow eyes. He had upright tufted ears on a long head which ended in a bright pink nose; he also had a long body and tail. He was very slightly timid, but no doubt will gain confidence as his show experience expands. Class 900 Tabby SH Cat of any pattern, with or without white 1. BoC and MC to Plaw’s MC PEPE REINAWhat a truly beautiful cat! He was a dark ticked tabby, solid in build and of good weight, but elegant. His short face housed expressive large yellow eyes set on a slant which were trimmed with eyeliner and showed a paler ring around. His firm body with proportionate legs and paws ended in a tail which was medium in length and ended in a furry point. He was a little apprehensive, but quite friendly. Class 902a Any Other Colour or Pattern Cat, with or without white Male1 and MC. Bailey’s C’E FLYTEHe was a massive cream point cat of foreign build, with a coat tending towards semi-longhair. He had striking blue eyes with an endearing squint in a long wedge shaped head. He had faint stripes on his long well-built body, and long legs and tail. He was a tiny bit worried. Class 902b Any Other Colour or Pattern Cat, with or without white Female 1 and MC. Gillott’s MC MOJOShe was a sweet bun-faced dark tortie smoke cat with a charming expression. She was compact, with short limbs and tail; her coat was of the curious Selkirk rex type, not really curly but it had a sort of wave with hiccups in. Her eyes were big, round and yellow and her muzzle was half cream and half black – harlequin style. 2. Bailey’s CARESSDespite her description in the judge’s book and later in the catalogue, she was a dark chocolate rather than a cream cat, of foreign build. Her ears were large to match her physique, and her face was longish with a pinch. Her coat was longer than the usual shorthair’s and she had dark patches on her flanks; her tail had had a small knob towards the end – not enough to hang a princess’s rings on though. She was a good weight. Class 920 Cat or Kitten with the Best Patterned Coat1. Plaw’s MC PEPE REINA2. Creaton and Walker’s GMC RAINBOW DREAMCATCHER3. Christian’s AUTUM GOLDShe was a pretty tortie tabby of medium build with a sweet expression. Her head showed a rounded brow and expressive eyes with a flirty blink, and she boasted some smart regular necklaces. She had a creamy chin and patches each side of her muzzle by her little nose. Class 922 Cat or Kitten with the Brightest Eyes1. Gillott’s MC MOJO2. Vaneveld’s MAI-LEIThis girl had a beautiful smooth chocolate Burmese coat, and was of good weight. She was an alert cat with attractive eyes, firm legs and neat paws. She was unhappy out of her pen. 3. Dwyer’s JONTI Also Cox’s CANDYFLOSSShe was a big fluffy blue cream girl with large round deep yellow eyes set in a pretty face - her nose was not set too high, giving a charming expression. She was a dear little cat whose coat, especially underneath, lacked grooming which rather let her down. Class 924 Smartest SH Cat or Kitten1. Gillot’s MOJO2. Christian’s GM TEDDY BOYX2. Beswick’s SOLOMONHere was another lovely cat, though his coat was not lying too smoothly. He was a lilac boy of Burmese type, outgoing and very friendly and happy. He had a medium length head, with almost aquamarine-coloured eyes set at a slight slant. He had strong legs ending in oval paws, and a tail of medium length. Such a nice lad. Class 925 Black or Black and White1. Kidd’s GMC DAISYClass 927 Ginger or Ginger and White, Tortie or Tortie and White1. Creaton and Walker’s GMC RAINBOW DREAMCATCHER2. Kidd’s GARFIELDClass 937 Thomas Trophy Class, Ginger Cat1. Kidd’s GARFIELDClass 941 Special Trophy Class AC Adult Long or Short Hair1. Kidd’s GMC ALFREDHere was a big strong confident cat, dark mackerel tabby in markings plus white. He had an appealing tabby stripe down his nose and a patch under his chin. His coat was a little harsh and his grooming could have been a bit fussier, but he just said “look at me” - he stood proudly and somehow had an aura. 2. Bailey’s C’E FLYTE3. Kidd’s GARFIELDClass 947 Any Cat or Kitten born in May1. Plaw’s MN PEPE REINA2. Bailey’s C’E FLYTE3. Bailey’s CARESS
