Preston and Blackpool Cat Club Show 27th March 2010-03-27Thanks to Jacky and team for inviting me to judge again this year and to my steward for handling the cats so sympathetically. It was a pleasure to judge such obviously well loved and beautifully prepared pets today. Short haired non pedigree pet Self coloured cat with or without white1st MC BOC to Mrs. S. Isaacs SootyA glossy, handsome yellow eyed black boy of substance. He has long slender legs, neat paws and an elegant tail to balance. Initially a little tense out of his pen but he relaxed with cuddling. Well prepared and lovely to handle. 2nd Mr. and Mrs Thompson’s Scrappy Doo. Another lovely boy, this time white with yellow eyes. Again well prepared and easy to handle but not quite as relaxed as my winner. I see from later classes that this was his first time on the show bench, so I am sure his time will come. Also entered for BOC Mr.and Mrs Kidd’ GMC Daisy.A very attractive, talkative lady with a short, dense, well prepared black and white coat. Happy in her pen but very tense out of it today. Longhair or Semi Longhair Pedigree Pet Red or any colour Tortoiseshell Cat with or without whiteEntered for BOC only The Misses Creaton and Walker’s MC SR Joshua Purrkins. An extremely laid back and handsome fellow with a gentle nature. He was really well prepared and his long coat had oodles of random waving. He was easy to handle, enjoyed a cuddle and was well worthy of his award today. Shorthaired Pedigree Pet Tabby cat of any pattern with or without white. 1st MC BOC MrsPlaw’s MC Pepe ReinaHere we had a very attractive, alert brown ticked tabby neuter boy with yellow eyes. Very happy and alert in his pen and happy to be stroked but a bit grumbly out. Prepared to perfection and a pleasure to judge. AV Junior Cat1st Mrs. Read’s Stanley.A sparkling and very handsome shorthaired red tabby and white boy with very expressive and striking orange eyes, a perfect match to his his richly coloured coat. He had fine white legs, dainty paws and a strong tail that balanced his elegant body. Attractive, irregular red tabby markings along the spine includied a most unusual and irregular white patch, and he also had an irregular splotch across his nose. I just loved this cat. He was lively and alert and his temperament was superb. He enjoyed every minute of the attention he received and was a real pleasure to judge. 2nd Mr and Mrs Wareing’s MC Leo.A large, friendly brown mackerel tabby boy with expressive yellow green eyes. Good bone and substance to his strong frame and legs. Lovely warm tones to his long, well prepared coat. A little grumbly out of his pen today but very happy inside. Unlucky to meet today’s winner. 3rd Mr. and Mrs Thompson’s Scrappy DooAV cat or Kitten Never Shown Before1st Mrs Brynes Rudi. What a little sweetheart this chap is! Peeping out inquisitively from under his blanket he looked a little shy, but he revelled in the cuddles and attention lavished on him by the judges and stewards when out of his pen. His cute face was framed by large red ears. He was easy to handle and a pleasure to judge. 2nd Mr and Mrs Thompson’s Scrappy DooAV Cat or Kitten Resident in LancsThis was an extremely difficult class to judge as all 4 were lovely cats worthy of a first placing. Eventually I decided on 1st Misses Creaton and Walker’s GMC Rainbow Dreamcatcher. This little lady is an extremely attractively marked tortie and white with very expressive greenish yellow eyes. She has long slender legs with neat paws and an elegant body with tail to balance. Her dense fine coat was prepared to perfection and she had a very sweet, gentle nature. 2nd Mr and Mrs Ashworth’s MC Kissy.A very pretty Sealpoint Bicoloured lady with expressive blue eyes and the sweetest temperament. She was in lovely condition and one would never know she was almost a pensioner! She loved being cuddled and her paws were gently kneeding all the while. Her coat was very well prepared. 3rd Mrs. Lomax’s Sophie.Another very attractively marked girl, this time a shorthaired tabby and white. She had a slender body with long slender legs and dainty white paws. Tail to balance. There was lovely condition to her dense short coat which was prepared to perfection. She was not quite as happy out of her pen as my previous 2, but by comparison is still a novice. 4th Mr and Mrs Wareing’s MC LeoAV Rescued Stray Cat or Kitten1st Mrs Kidd’s IGMC AlfredA very handsome short haired tabby and white boy with lovely markings including a long black line down his tail. Immaculately presented and with a charming, laid back temperament. Charity Class1st Mrs Lomax’s SophieTabby or Tabby and White1st Messrs Robertson and Richardson’s AgacatA very substantial Shorthaired Brown and White boy. This friendly fellow had attractive tabby markings on a very well prepared coat. When I tried to lift him out of his pen he rolled on his back for a tummy tickle and he was purring away with his paws kneeding the air. He was unhappy with his neighbour when out of his pen, but non the less was easy to handle. A lovely boy. AC LH Cat or KittenA difficult choice between these two today both being worthy of a first place. 1st The Misses Creaton and Walker’s MC SR Joshua Purrkins2nd Mr and Mrs Wareing’s MC Leo
