SCOTTISH CAT CLUB SHOW 13TH FEBRUARY 2010 JUDGES REPORT MS JANE E. ALLEN

My thanks to Isobel, Denise and the club for their kind invitation to judge again this year. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay north of the border and thank them for their kind hospitality. I was very lucky to have the wonderful services of Marlene Laird and Elaine Hillith as my stewards they made light work of what was a very full day! Thanks to them both for getting me through in such good time and for marking my catalogue.

AC PERSIAN IMPERIAL GRAND CHAMPION MALE

IGC NIVENS GR CH NOREXOTIKATTS CASPERCAROT 70 19 12.4.06

Mature exhibit with a very broad top of head and well set neat ears. Round eyes of good size and colour. Short broad nose with nice leather and nostrils. Wide, sweeping cheeks. Acceptable bite and firm chin. Large, well filled body with thick short legs. Short tail with rounded end. Classic tabby patterning clearly evident and generally he was well shown.

GR CC MILLICANS CH CULLYKHAN HONEY PIE 12 1 4.9.08

This girl was looking really nice today, I have had her as a kitten and she has developed into a lovely young adult. Wide head with neat low set ears. Smooth skull. Round eyes bold and a sound orange colour. Short nose with cute freckle! Full, fat cheeks. Nice bite and firm chin. Cobby frame with short, full plumed tail. In full coat that was mainly white with two large spots of red towards her lower back. Her head and tail showed both black and red. Excellent grooming and a very nice laid back temperament.

Res MORRIS CH HEATHROSE RAG NYMPH 7e 25.9.08

Another young female with nice type and balance. Quite a broad top of head, her ears just a little more upright at the moment. Round bold eyes that were a sound deep orange colour. Short nose with leather nicely formed. Full cheeks. I would just like a little more fullness to her lower face. Cobby well filled frame with short, well furnished tail. Her coat was long rather diffusing the tabby patterning but she was showing a lovely silver ground colour with both shades of reds and black evident. Well shown and sweet to handle.

AC PERSIAN NON SELF PREMIER FEMALE

GR PR DEMBSKI IGR CH & PR LINDENLEA VANILLA 12a2

What a lovely exhibit, full of type and style. Very broad head with tiny ears set low on her skull. Round deep copper eyes that were large and expressive. Full cheeks surrounding her short nose. Good bite and chin. Large yet cobby frame with short, stocky legs. Full, short tail. In excellent condition, mainly a mid sound blue coat with white to either side of her nose. White bib, limbs and tummy. All groomed to absolute perfection.

Res CARMICHAELS CH & PR TOMOSAH CARLY 10

Hard lines to come up against Vanilla, this girl too is very lovely and a very nice example of the breed. Very pretty balanced expression with neat, well set ears. Bold eyes of good colouring. Short nose with brick leather and nice outliner. Full cheeks, good bite and adequate chin. Short, squat little body and short tail. Her coat was very evenly and lighted tipped and well shown. Handled well.

CHINCHILLA ADULT

1 CC BOB SMITHS CEDARSWAMPS LULU (imp) 27.3.08

I really liked this female too, and she pushed the tortie and white hard for my best in show nomination! One of the nicest chinchillas I have seen for a long while. I loved her facial balance and those eyes were just amazing sound emerald green large and so expressive. Good body weight and conformation. Her coat was very well shown, slightly towards the heavier side of tipped but very evenly distributed. Such a lovely girl and showed herself beautifully.

EXOTIC SH SELF NEUTER

Still quite a youngster with some maturing still to do. Round head with quite well set ears that were just a little open at the base. Round eyes that were of a reasonable size and colour. Short nose that I would prefer a larger leather and nostrils. Acceptable bite and firm chin. Quite a cobby frame with good weight. Short, rounded tail. His coat was on the dark side of blue and stood away well from his body but lacked the complete plushness desired of the exotic coat, I think that he has lost some of his undercoat and this makes such a difference to the feel.

EXOTIC SH TABBY OR TABBY AND WHITE NEUTER

A real teddy bear of an exhibit! Lovely head and face with super balance. Wide top well set ears. Round, bold deep copper eyes. Short, nose with wide cheeks. Good bite and firm chin. Super cobby frame with great weight, short, rounded tail. Short, thick set limbs. Classic patterning very well defined and his coat was thick and plush and groomed very well.

Sorry to withhold on this well grown chap but he was so very undershot it was not possible to award a certificate. He also needs to have his breed number changed as he is indeed a blue smoke not a blue spotted tabby.

MAINE COON SILVER TABBY SERIES NEUTER

Sorry to have to wrong colour SHAWCOON WE WILL ROCK YOU but she was a bluecream tabby not silver in my opinion and that of another senior judge.

I liked this young man very much, in fact I liked him so much that I gave him the best of breed over three other titled cats in this category! Very promising, lovely looking chap with large, well furnished ears set high but with correct space between. High cheeks with great width to length balance. Large, expressive eyes slightly obliquely set. Uniform length nose with shallow concave curve in profile. Great depth of chin forming a parallel line from his tip of nose. Lovely square box muzzle. Long, well filled frame with long, excellent boned legs. Long tail with lovely furnishings. Very well shown with long coat around his head and sides. Super to handle and admire!

SELKIRK REX KITTEN

Delightful young baby so well grown and confident. Round, braod head with full cheeks developing well. Medium width muzzle with pronounced whisker pads and great broken whiskers. Short, broad nose with downwards slant. Medium sized ears set well apart on her head. Large, round eyes set well apart and so expressive. Cobby body with lovely weight and substance. Medium length legs with round firm paws. Thick medium length tail. I loved her coat the curls were really well defined and covering her whole body. Very well shown.

I really liked this boy too, what a super head and type, so well balanced. Glorious coat, approximately 50/50 colour to white and groomed to perfection.

Stylish exotic male typewise but not in the best of coat on the day lacking the density of undercoat thus making his coat feel rather more harsh than I would like.

I really liked this boy too, what a stunning looking youngster, and I bet the best is yet to come!! Beautifully balanced head and type coupled with a stunning silver tabby classic patterned coat broken with white. Lovely temperament.

X2 MORRIS HEATHROSE SUNNYSIDE UP 9

Remember him from the Supreme!! Very stylish young male with a wonderfully balanced head and type, just full of coat that was carrying faint tabby patterning but with that length of coat very hard to define. Very well shown and great to handle.

An attractive bluepoint female. Strong, broad and rounded head with medium length nose with slight dip in profile. Full cheeks tapering to a strong nicely developed muzzle. Medium ears set well apart on her head. Almost round sound blue eyes that were very expressive. Long body with excellent substance. Medium length nicely boned limbs with short, strong paws. Tail in proportion to her body and nice and bushy furnishings. Her coat was well shown and a lovely silky texture. Matching blue/gray points colouring with bluish white body colour. Very good feet markings and very well shown.

2 PAYNES SUMMERPLACE CAPPUCCINO (imp) 64 41

Stylish male with very nice head type and balance with nice length to width proportions, large well set and nicely tufted ears. Expressive eyes. Shallow concave curve to nose with nice square muzzle and chin. Long very well filled frame with super long well boned limbs. Long well furnished tail. Classic tabby markings very well defined and with nicely groomed coat – a tough decision between first and second.

A most impressive young male. Broad head with a flat plane and nice width between his ears. Well rounded cheeks, nice muzzle and firm chin. Large, well opened eyes that were slightly obliquely set and a nice shade of blue. Long nicely muscled body with medium legs with good boning. Bushy tail in proportion to his body Silky texture, dense coat that was nicely shown.

Mature exhibit who I liked very much but I felt his ears were just a little widely set but apart from that a most impressive exhibit.

A very pleasing female with super head type and lovely dense, double coat.

months old and a very pleasing female with nice head type. Large high set ears with a pleasing ear’s width space between. High, wide cheeks with pleasing balance. Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve in profile. Expressive large slightly obliquely set eyes. Long body with good substance and long, well boned limbs. Long tail that was well furnished. Quite a long coat that was very well shown and with great clarity of patterning and warm tones. Very well shown and a super temperament.

2 GREGSONS NITERAP BATTRIES 64 41s

Only nine months old so still very much the baby but a stylish youngster nonetheless. Pleasing head type with large, upright ears with correct width between and nicely furnished. Large, expressive eyes. Uniform width nose with shallow concave curve in profile. Wide, high cheeks and promising length to her head. Quite a square muzzle and firm chin. Long frame with needs more time to body up further. Long tail with nice furnishings. Well shown.

What an aptly named kitten absolutely gorgeous! We all just went weak at the knees at this cute baby with was everything I could wish for in a chinnie kitten. Groomed so well too I loved her.

These babies must be litter siblings and both quite similar but I considered that they are tabby not straight bi colours.

Another very pretty chinnie baby going through that slightly adolescent stage of growing up looking just a little more pinchy at present as she needed to fill out around her lower jaw but at 6 months she has plenty of time. Very attractive top of head and such expressive eyes. Cobby frame with stocky, short legs. Tiny tail to finish. Very well shown kitten with even delicate tipping.

A well grown young lady but her eyes appeared sort to me, again possibly due to teething. I was not overly happy with the end of her tail.

I was devastated to have to withhold on this kitten as she was really lovely in every respect except her bite that was undershot and very slightly misaligned.

This young lady quite stole my heart as well. Very promising head and type with super ears, well furnished and held correctly. Expressive large slightly obliquely set eyes. Shallow concave curve to her nose with super square muzzle and firm chin. Long body and tail with nice coat texture and length developing. Lovely vibrant colours developing with good clarity of patterning. A most attractive young lady.

Pushed the winner very closely, an adorable kitten with super Persian type and in full coat. Beautifully shown.

Another very nice maine coon baby, there were certainly some very good kittens at the show! Another with very promising head type and great expression. Lovely long body and tail with great coat and presentation.

Pleasing youngster of nice head and type, I would say that he is mackerel rather than classic patterning.

Such a lovely exhibit and a 51/2 years old in his absolute prime. Wonderful head and balance with large, expressive round eyes. Super short, broad nose and wide cheeks. Good chin and bite. Massive cobby frame and short legs covered in a sound, strong red coat. Shown in top condition and a sweetie to handle.

a tough decision between them!!

I eventually decided on this lad for the first, I do not think I have ever seen a cream smoke with such fantastic contrast and therefore had to acknowledge this by giving him the first prize!! He also has very nice balanced to his head and type. Super presentation as well.

Very impressive Maine Coon who ran the winner close for the best of breed award. Massive frame and weight and very pleasing head type and square muzzle.
