SHORTHAIRED CAT SOCIETY CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 08 01 2011 MRS JANET STARR

Thank you to my friend, Lynda Ashmore, for the invitation to judge at the Shorthaired –a first for me! I had a lovely day in the good company of Fran Armitage, who was brave enough to agree to steward _ thank you, Fran, for your careful handling of the cats & me (!) I hope that you will steward for me again soon.

SIAMESE GRAND CHAMPION FEMALE

1 IGC Withheld BROCK’S GR CH KEVELS PURRSONALITY 21 12 07

Seal-point female of very good type. Wedge head with tiny muzzle pinch, angular profile & a firm chin. Eyes of good bright blue, correctly shaped & set. Well placed ears open at the base, just large enough to balance her head. Long firm body & legs, tail could be finer & needs an extra inch. Close fine textured short coat, lightly shaded & a little cold, points of dense dark seal .An attractive female shown in wonderful condition & with a charming temperament – just not quite the indefinable extra “something” which ,for me, marks out the IGC winners, but a lovely girl nevertheless

1 GCC Withheld BAUERFEIND’S CH PALMIRA BREEZE 19 06 09

Pretty Seal Tabby-point of very good type. Wedge head with even lines, angular profile & a firm chin. Eyes of deep bright blue, oriental in shape & setting & very expressive. Well placed large ears. Fine dainty body & legs, short tail with a rather sudden end! Slightly coarse short coat, a little open & with some cold shading. Points of pale seal brown needing a little more definition. Another attractive female ,let down chiefly by her tail today!

1 BOB WOODFIELD’S WESTGARTH MACKENZIE 16 04 10

Extremely well nourished neuter kitten of very good type. Wedge head with strong profile & firm chin, eyes of oriental shape & setting, green tinged but I hope that this develops as he matures – just enough at present. Well placed large open ears. Long heavy body ( he likes his food!) whip tail of good length, though it would be even better if he was a little more svelte-as it is ,it loses something in comparison to his girth! Excellent coat of fine texture, warm rosy mushroom, short, shiny & sound in colour. A handsome young man, almost an adult ,who should do well as a neuter, though he is reluctant to show himself – was this his first show?

1PC BOB BURNETT’S PR BURNTHWAITES BRIGHT-SPARK 21 08 09

Long & stylish neuter of very good type. Wedge head with slightly narrow muzzle ,straight profile & a firm chin. Deep blue eyes correctly shaped & set. Well set large open ears. Long strong body, legs & tail to balance .Close coat of pure white ,just a little long on his back, but of fine texture & well-polished .A very pleasing neuter who handled beautifully

ORIENTAL CARAMEL NEUTER

1 IC BOB FALCONER’S KYOMI HONEYBEAR 12 02 09

Large & very stylish neuter of very good type, resplendent in his double pen. Wide wedge head with straight profile & a firm chin. Oriental eyes correctly shaped & set, with just a touch of green, though I had to search for it! Well placed large flyaway eras on broad top of head. Long strong body, legs & tail to balance. Short close coat of fine texture, brownish grey & sound in colour. Handsome neuter with “pazazz!”

2 BROWN’S HEMLOCK VIVA LASVEGAS 11 05 06

An attractive neuter of very good type, if a little fine for a male nearing 4 years of age .Even wedge head with straight profile & firm chin. Eyes of good green, oriental in shape & setting .Well placed large ears giving pleasing head balance. Long fine body & legs, whip tail needing to be longer for balance. Coat a little soft & open, showing brindling & with a paler patch on his shoulder which I took to be an injection site or an old injury.A gentle boy, just lacking a little masculinity

Another slightly feminine male neuter of good type. Wedge head with small pinch, uneven profile & a firm chin. Eyes of good blue & correct shape ,set a little straight. Well placed large ears. Long body, legs & tail to balance. Coat of correct warm ivory colour, a little long in places but only minimally shaded & this won him the PC today!)points darker on his mask but with warmth of tone

Large & very well prepared gentleman in double pen. Well groomed with clear blue eyes, pure white with what I thought were caramel patches, though I see he’s listed as Blue in the catalogue – whatever, he’s gorgeous! FEMALE 1MC RAWSON’S DAISY 01 01 10 Litter sister to the male & just as lovely, super coat, big blue eyes & just a little gentler than her brother – a treat to handle them both!
