THE SHORTHAIR CAT CLUB OF SCOTLAND 17th April, 2010 Dr BRUCE BENNETTMy thanks to Cate and Sarah for the invitation to judge at their Show and my congratulations to them for prevailing and bringing it off in spite of losing several judges because of that darn volcano’s damage to the airline schedules. Not many cat shows can say that they were adversely affected by a volcano, and I hope that no others have similar experiences! I was ably assisted by my friend Joanna Lamont who worked like a Trojan throughout a very busy day and who, I hope, will steward for me again. AC SIAMESE/BALINESE GRAND CHAMPION MALE.Imp Gr CC to MICHIE’S I GR CH HIGHIQ HAYA JI M. (24) 6yrs 1mth.Good to meet this distinguished gent again, still as handsome as ever in his mature years which he wears lightly. Lovely even wedge head on which large ears are widely spaced and flared in becoming alignment, super oriental shape to his eyes of good blue with a proud expression. Very good strong profile, gentle angle at the brow now, chin as always sloping back just a little, bite level. Medium sized, firmly muscled body, matching limbs, tail shows just a little sign of stud-dom. Dense seal points with very good contrast to the body which, though showing shading, retains a warm glow to it. AC SIAMESE/BALINESE GRAND PREMIER MALE.Imp Gr PC to BUCHAN’S GR PR KEELOKAN KAIKAI. MN. (32a) 3yrs 6mths.Individual of very good type, though just a bit grumpy. Very good even wedge, ears of excellent size, set and flared becomingly, excellent shape and oriental incline to his eyes that show depth to the blue. Very straight profile, chin aligned, bite meets. Long masculine but elegant body, limbs and tail to match. Close coat shows good brightness to the rich red points, with clear contrast to the warm white body that shows just a little tonal shading. AC SIAMESE/BALINESE GRAND PREMIER FEMALE.Imp Gr PC to SPENCE’S GR PR SCOTMAR CLASSIE LASSIE F. (24a) 3yrs 0mths.Very elegant dainty lass, with a very even, equilateral wedge, on which large spaced ears are set very well in line, eyes of simply super almond shape and incline, deep deep blue. Profile almost straight, level chin, excellent bite. Neat, feminine body, limbs and tail in proportion. Excellent soft blue tone to her points, close body coat showing a little matching shading to its basically glacial tone. AC SIAMESE/BALINESE CHAMPION MALE.GR CC to FRENCH’S CH PALMIRA BEAUJANGLES. M. (24b) 1yr 7mths.Large strong chocolate boy of very good type. Long, even wedge on which large ears are well placed and flared in alignment, very well spaced. Eyes of very good shape and incline, would prefer just a little more space between them, blue good. Very good profile, just convex, chin level, bite meets. Body large, lithe and lengthy, proportionate limbs and tail. Very good well matched soft chocolate points close to the desired cadbury’s milk tray, good contrast to the ivory body that shows gentle shading to tone with the points. Res GR CC to MICHIE’S CH DEBICAT JOSETHESPECIALONE. M. (32 3) 2yrs 3mths.I have long admired this chap’s lovely type. He has a beautiful equilateral wedge with an outstanding topline, large beautifully spaced and flared ears, eyes of very good shape and incline, good blue. Very good straight profile, firm chin, incisors lacking but bite looks level. Firm body, proportionate limbs and tail, though the whole is a little dainty for a full male which disadvantaged him today. Delicate chocolate tracings to his mask, good chocolate tail rings, faint leg bars, good contrast to the ivory body. AC SIAMESE/BALINESE CHAMPION FEMALE.GR CC to BROWN’S CH FISEPO THISLEWAY AURORA. F. (32t8) 1yr 4mths.Lady with a very elegant equilateral wedge, nicely even, on which ears of good size are well placed and flared though she was a little reluctant to show them off, eyes shape and incline very good, would ideally like the blue to be a little deeper. Excellent straight profile, chin lines up, excellent even bite. Firm body and limbs, tail balances. Coat of good texture, pleasing soft lilac based tabby tracings and rings with the faintest delicate hint of red sparsely distributed. Res GR CC to TOSUN’S CH PALMIRA NERISSA. F. (24b) 1yr 7mths.Long elegant lady with a long wedge showing a wee pinch, large ears needing just a touch more breadth between ideally, but well flared in line, good oriental shape to her slanted eyes of deep blue. Profile nearly straight, chin level, excellent bite. Long slender body with balancing limbs and tail. Chocolate points a little on the dark side for me, but warm, good ivory body contrast. Also considered FRASER’S CH TREEDANCER NA TOTH. F. (32b4) 3yrs 6mthsLady with a strong, even wedge, eyes just a little open, but good basic shape, blue needs more depth, ears of size, well placed and aligned nicely, chin very well lined up and excellent bite. Profile shows a very pleasing outline, just convex. Strong body with limbs and tail in keeping. Lilac points of mid tone, well broken in pale shades, softly shaded body. AC SIAMESE/BALINESE PREMIER FEMALE.GR PC to SPENCE’S GR PR SCOTMAR CLASSIE LASSIE F. (24a) 3yrs 0mthsORIENTAL BLACK ADULT FEMALE.1. CC. DEBOWSKA’S CHAPELROSE CINDERELLA. F. (37) 9mths 23ds.What an enticing young lady of very striking type, with a long elegant, even wedge adorned by large ears of eye-catching spacing and wide flare, stunning green oriental eyes of good incline and the wicked look reminiscent of her fathers’. Arrogant aquiline profile, strong chin, bite just meets. Superb long lithe body, long spidery limbs, tail to match. Excellent shining sound black coat to complete the picture. Still adolescent but just as she should be at this age. 2. HAMILTON’S ADNIOSH BLACK LACE. F. (37) 11mths 8ds.Attractive girl of good oriental type, medium long, even wedge, ears well spaced and flared, eye shape good, green could be a little clearer. Profile show s gentle bump over the nose but is almost straight, bite meets. Slender body, limbs and tail balance tiny terminal something. Excellent coat, typical sound close gleaming black. ORIENTAL BLUE ADULT MALE.BoB. ARMSTRONG’S GR CH CHAPELROSE OHMEOHMY. M. (37a) 2yrs 5mths.Well known gent of terrific type, now showing a touch more masculinity that was missing in his early days. Handsome even wedge with large ears of excellent size and striking flare, eyes of very good oriental shape and incline, super green tone and with an adorable tendency to squint down his nose at onlookers, but this I hastily add is intermittent, so acceptable. Profile just convex, chin slopes away slightly, bite level. Medium sized body with length and firmness, limbs and tail to balance. Coat slightly long and a touch dry and outdoorsy (he is a working lad now); in contrast to the close gleaming slightly dark blue of his youth; the colour also seemed to have lightened a little. Interesting development, just as handsome but more mature. Current status emphasized by tendency to woo his desirable neighbour. ORIENTAL SPOTTED TABBY ADULT FEMALE.1. CC. WOOLEY’S EMERPUS TARTAN ROSE. F. (38) 2yrs 4 mths.Lady of substance and handsome type. Wedge of medium length, nicely even on which ears of size are set well, eyes of good oriental shape and set, needing a little more vividness to the green. Very good straight profile, chin firm, bite meets. Very good mature body, long and firm, slender neckline balancing limbs and tail. Close coat shows very good mask lines with superior tracings over the forehead and crown, down neck to shoulders, triple spine lines. Spots are there on the flanks, show some linkage and could be more sharply defined, tail ringed. Some ticking blurs the pattern a bit. Recent scars over shoulders, clearly due to recent affectionate encounters, passed by duty vet, and confirmed as such during later discussions with owners ORIENTAL CLASSIC & MACKEREL TABBY FEMALE.1. CC Withheld. CAMPBELL’S DEDANNAN REFLECTIONSIN BLUE. F. (44a) 10ms 20ds.Lady of appealing type with a good even wedge, sporting proportionate ears, well placed and flared, with eyes of good oriental shape, green could be more brilliant. Fairly straight profile, bite meets. Body slightly stocky, neat limbs and tail Coat of good close texture, pattern not conforming to registration and somewhat ill defined showing hints of tracings on the mask, faint broken necklaces, a soft blue cloak not totally sound, innocent of spine lines and shoulder markings and without the striping required in a mackerel tabby. HAVANA KITTEN, MALE.1. BoB. DAVIES’ BRYN EL CHE.(29). 4mths 2ds.Handsome lad with an even wedge, eyes well shaped though held slightly open, excellent green tone, large ears well spread, could be a little more open for preference. Very straight profile, chin and bite level. Neat little body, matching limbs and tail. Shiny coat, good soundness, ghost tabby patterning evident in the chestnut tones. HAVANA KITTEN, FEMALE.1. TOSUN’S BRYN A SPRINKLE OF NUTMEG. F. (29) 4mths 2ds.Sweet lass with a very even wedge, ears spaced and flared well and held nicely open, excellent green shade to her eyes of oriental almond shape and incline. Very good smooth profile, strong chin, bite at present just a little undershot which cost her the BoB, hope it resolves as her head develops. Balanced, dainty body, limbs and tail. Coat of good soundness and texture, showing less in the way of ghosting than her brother. FOREIGN WHITE KITTEN, FEMALE.1. BoB. ROBB’S RIVANESS SNOWMAIDEN. F. (35) 6mths 2ds.Handsome girl with an elegant, even wedge adorned by large ears set in line, showing good flare, good depth of blue to her oriental eyes , superior expression. Profile almost straight, firm chin, excellent bite. Body of very good development and elegance, balancing limbs and tail of length. Coat still marginally long, but lies close, lovely clear white throughout. ORIENTAL CINNAMON MALE NEUTER.BoB. HAMILTON’S PR EMERPUS HOCUS POCUS. MN. (37k) 3yrs 11mths.Large strong person with a long, slightly narrow wedge, broad at the muzzle and needing a little more width between his sizeable ears; almond eyes of very oriental slant, green needing a bit more intensity for preference. Profile almost straight, chin lines up, bite level. Body long and strong, limbs and tail balance. Even cinnamon coat of good texture, not quite sound. ORIENTAL BICOLOUR MALE NEUTER.1. IC. BoB. DYKES’ MAZPAHS REBEL ROY. MN. (48b) 9mths 24ds.Very large, masculine fellow with a lot of presence. Wedge long and even, sporting large ears, open and set well in line, eyes of good oriental shape, light green toned. Splendid long firmly muscled body, lengthy limbs and tail to compliment it. Coat of excellent texture, lying close, showing very dark chocolate contrasting with plentiful white evident on all four limbs and mask, and continuous, as required, down underparts. Some invasion of the chocolate peripheries by white hairs. CHOCOLATE POINT ADULT MALE.1. CC. BoB. BRUNO-GREIVE’S FLUTTERBY CONQUISTADOR. M. (24b) 10mths 5ds.Very striking youth of great promise. Lovely even wedge head with huge breadth between very large, widely flared ears, excellent shape to his well spaced oriental eyes of good blue. Superbly arrogant arched profile. Head still needs a touch more muzzle strength for preference; he has plenty of time to add that. Warm, mid chocolate points with very striking contrast to the totally unshaded ivory body coat that lies close and smooth. 2. FRENCH’S CH PALMIRA BEAUJANGLES. M. (24b) 1yr 7mths..Also considered for BoB. TOSUN’S CH PALMIRA NERISSA. F. (24b) 1yr 7mthsTABBY POINT ADULT MALE.1. CC Withheld. MAILER’S ADINIOAM LINDEA MCTABBY. M. (32 1) 10mths 8ds.Very large, strong youth with an excellent, even wedge head on which are set large ears, well flared in line. Excellent oriental eyes of deep blue. Body already large and strong, balancing limbs and tail. Coat texture good and tabby makings on mask and limbs correct in typical seal, body showing some shading. Was clearly heading for a certificate, but unfortunately at present, lacks tail rings sufficient to conform, there being only a few on the last third of his tail. TABBY POINT ADULT FEMALE.1. CC BoB. BROWN’S CH FISEPO THISLEWAY AURORA. F. (32t8) 1yr 4mths.2. SHAND’S MAFDET ROSETINTED. F. (32 1) 11mths 14ds.Such a smart lady of very good type. Lovely even wedge head, crowned by large ears, well spaced and showing lovely flare, super oriental inclined eyes of deep blue. Correct, arching profile, firm chin, lower incisors just undershot at present which cost her the certificate, I’m afraid; hope this corrects as her head develops. Coat short and close lying, showing smart, seal tabby markings on the mask, thumb prints there, with correct bracelets and tail rings and sufficient contrast to the slightly cloudy body. Very promising. CHOCOLATE POINT KITTEN, MALE.1. BoB Withheld. LILBURN-SMITH’S TIJOS TINY TIM. M. (24b) 5mths 22ds.Boy with very attractive head, even and well balanced on which ears are well spaced and flared and of very good size. Eyes of very good oriental shape, blue lacking depth. (24b) 7mths 19ds.Cross young lady with a shorter wedge, tiny pinch, ears placed well, though would prefer them a little larger, eyes well shaped, blue could be a little deeper. Good straight profile, firm chin, bite not seen. Slender, firm body, matching limbs, good tail length for balance.
