Southern Counties show January 30th 2010-02-07 Show Report from Shar CrichtonIt was very pleasant to be invited again to this well run show this year held in a spacious Leisure centre and to be able to judge and handle some lovely cats that I have never seen before. My thanks to Mrs Barrowman, Ms Deane and the club for the invitation and hospitality and to Jonathan Emery, who kindly came to steward for me. He is an excellent and knowledgeable steward and is an excellent companion and was a tower of strength on the day. Many thanks for your help, Jonathan. OPEN CLASSES AC Self Persian Premier (Gr Pr)Imp. Gr Pr Saunder’s PR MYSTERE TURBULENCELovely black male in his prime with excellent cobby physique having total balance in head and body. A large, weighty chap with a broad chest and rounded rump, set on short tree trunk legs which had fat rounded paws. Excellent head type that was broad, well rounded and had tiny ears spaced far apart at the corners. Huge saucer shaped eyes with superb copper colour and lovely bold expression which is so striking in a sound black face. Very short snub nose that had a good stop, shiny black leather and generous size of nostril. Fat chubby cheeks gave his face good width and he had a broad muzzle, a strong chin and a scissor bite with the upper incisors slightly dished. The coat was long and very soft with fluffy trousers, a long frill and a short bushy, well feathered tail. The coat was a shiny black that was very sound and was expertly prepared and a real credit to his owner as I know personally how hard it is to keep a black coat in top show condition. Well done on his presentation. Reserve Smith’s GR CH and PR TRACYLOOE SONICAnother very handsome chap that I have met before but unlucky to meet a much younger competitor on the day. He is almost seven years old and is in excellent condition for his age. Body shape was very cobby, of a good weight, solid and well muscled, set on short stocky legs with large fat paws with lovely fluffy feet. Excellent head type which was broad and smooth with well set feathered ears of small size. Large eyes that had orange eye colour that was paler than his competitor and no doubt due to the fact that he was a cat that was just that bit older. Sweet short nose that had a strong nose break, blue nose leather and good nasal openings. The muzzle had plenty of width and he had full cheeks and a strong balanced chin with a scissor bite. The coat was a pale shade of blue and was perfectly prepared with every hair in place. The frill and trousers were fluffy and very soft and he had a short bushy tail. A cat that is worthy of an imperial award and which I was sorry he did not get it on the day but I hope he will do so in time. Blue or Lilac Tortie and White Adult1CC and BOB Wilson’s CH TYTHERTON CAN’T BUY MELOVEA blue cream and white girl with a lovely facial expression and demeanor. She has good body conformation being cobby and well built with a solid frame that was a good weight with well muscled legs and short rounded paws. Round shaped head which was broad and had widely placed small ears that had medium length ear feathers. Very noticeable large, round eyes, very bold, bright and alert, with excellent copper colour, lovely expression and showing two tiny blue tear drops beneath both eyes that were very becoming. Excellent profile with a nose that was short with a strong nose break, a small pink nose leather and nostrils of good size. The face was well patched with blue and cream with a muzzle that was white and broad. She had good cheek width and a balanced strong cream chin with a level scissor bite. The underside of the body was clean white and she had a cream patch on her back and on her sides. The coat was long, silky and soft but not at its fullest at this time of year but in good condition and sparkling, with a frill and lovely fluffy trousers. The tail was fully coloured and was short and very bushy. A girl with a lovely friendly nature and who was well presented. 2 Cooke’s FIRANTY DONNATELLA Iloved this little blue cream and white girl who was so pretty and delightful but who missed out on the day due to lack of maturity and the fact that she still looks like a kitten. I deliberated hard and long for some time before making my choice. On another day the decision could well be reversed. She had a cobby body shape, firm and solid with a rounded rump and short dumpy legs with well rounded paws. Excellent head type which had width and neat well placed ears that had lovely long white ear feathers. Beautiful round eyes of large size and showing eye colour that is still muddy and changing but which I am sure will be a brilliant copper colour when settled. Short snub nose with a strong stop and a small blue nose leather with full size nostrils. Fat chubby cheeks with broad width of muzzle, a good level bite and a firm chin. The face was very prettily marked with blue and white on her cheeks while the body was mainly white with white legs that had coloured spots on all four feet. She had a cream patch over her shoulders and a blue patch on the left hand side of the body. The coat was soft and very clean with a fully coloured blue and cream tail that was short and fluffy. Show preparation was excellent and she had a delightful sweet nature. Bi-Coloured Adult, MaleBest of Breed Ambler’s GR CH TYTHERTON RALPH LAURENOn getting my catalogue, I note that I have seen and admired this red and white boy before although it has been some time since I judged him last. He has continued to develop with style and has grown into an impressive chap. A large boy, well grown, with a solid frame that was a good weight and was very cobby in shape. He has a broad chest and a well rounded rump supported on low set, strong, well muscled legs with large round paws. Broad skull which gave his face excellent width. Rounded forehead and small low set ears placed far apart on the head. Shapely large round eyes that had a lovely soft expression and deep orange colour and which were without doubt his best facial feature. Very short up-turned nose had a strong break and a full pink nose leather with good size nasal openings. Well formed muzzle and full cheeks with a good scissor bite. Firm chin which I would have liked to be stronger for perfection and for better facial balance which was not helped by the fact that he has already great head width. Lovely soft, full and very long coat which was not at its densest at this time of year but nevertheless in sparkling condition with a good frill, fluffy trousers and a very short bushy red tail. The face was attractively patched with red areas around the base of his ears and white over the lower face. The body was mainly white with a white bib and underside and the red areas were a rich shade of red with a large red patch on his rump. A very handsome cat with the loveliest of expressions and a real gentleman when handled, shown with impeccable presentation. 1CC Sander’s CHERMICICAN BORN TO BOOGIEA large cream and white bicolour boy, fully mature who was very sturdy, strong boned and had an extremely cobby body of large size and heavy weight, supported by thick short legs. Very broad head shape, extremely masculine, with good spacing between the ears which were small and had long white ear feathers. Bold eyes of good size and round shape and which had rich copper colour. Flat profile with a very short nose, strong nose break and a full size pink nose leather. Well formed muzzle with plenty of width and well developed cheeks. Strong muscular chin balanced the upper part of the face and he had a level scissor bite. The face was mainly white with a fully cream chin and cream patches below both ears while the body was totally white on his back and he had a fully coloured short, cream tail that was well furnished. The coat was not very long as he was not in full coat but he had a good frill and fluffy trousers and what he had was soft, clean and well prepared. The tail was short and bushy and in balance with the body length. A well presented exhibit with good show manners. Bi-Coloured Adult, Female1 CC Henderson’s MAVOURNEEN HOCUS POCUSA young adult black and white girl, just over a year old, with pleasing type and who was most appealing when handled as she squeaked throughout her examination when being judged! A very feminine girl who was very cobby in shape, with compact build and dainty with it. She had a shapely body with good bone, low body shape with well rounded rump and short squat legs that had lovely well feathered paws. Head was well balanced with rounded forehead and an apple face with pleasing expression. Ears were small and set well apart. Saucer shaped eyes with fabulous deep copper colour that won me over with her bold and bright expression. Short snub nose had a decent break and full size nose leather. Fat chubby cheeks and a muzzle that was developing well. A muscular formed chin that was strong and deep and she had a scissor bite. The coat was long full and dense and she had fluffy trousers and a long frill and a tail that was short, well clothed and fully black. The face was mainly white but nicely marked with some black spots on the forehead and muzzle. The upper part of her back was a sound black and she had a low placed thin white collar and white on her lower back region. Her two front paws were white and she had white socks on her hind paws. A well groomed exhibit with a delightful friendly temperament. 2 Lovesy’s PERSILUS RENATAAnother very cobby black and white girl who was a little older, well grown with a solid feel to body and limbs. She had good boning and sturdy short legs supporting her well rounded body shape. Very broad top of head with neat ears spaced well apart. Round eyes which were fairly large and could have been bolder for perfection and had acceptable orange eye colour and a pleasing sweet facial expression. Very short nose with a strong stop and a sweet black and pink nose leather that had tiny nostrils that I would have preferred to be larger. The muzzle was firm and white and the cheeks were fairly full. The chin was white, strong and firm and her bite was slightly undershot. Her coat was dense and full and felt a little woolly in texture but it was a very good black shade over her head and body. Her bib was white and she had fully clothed trousers and a short bushy tail. A very sweet exhibit when handled. Brown, Blue, Chocolate and Lilac Tabby Kitten1 and BOB Heath’s CATAROSA SWEET TALKING GUYA brown tabby boy with good persian type. Cobby body that was well grown, muscular with a broad chest and a rounded rump region set on short stocky legs. Wide top of head with well set ears that were neat and had long ear furnishings. Expressive eyes that were large and round in shape and had orange eye colour that was still not set and showing a very slight green rim in the hall lights. Short snub nose had a strong break and a pink nose leather that was not fully edged with brown but showing good size nasal openings. The cheeks were filling out well, the muzzle was well spotted and he had a strong chin and a scissor bite. Tabby markings on the face and head were very clear showing a distinct ‘M’ on his forehead, good pencilling on his cheeks and excellent black head lines running over the top of head. The coat was a rich copper colour with dense black lines visible. He had a good butterfly over the shoulders and classic tabby markings on his flanks but with his long length of coat it was hard to see three spine lines running down his back. He had a hint of a necklace and some spots visible on his tummy and slight barring on his limbs. The tail was short and well furnished with a hint of tabby rings along its length. A well behaved boy when handled. AC Exotic SH Self Kitten1 and BOB Basey-Fisher’s BIBOUKATZ XOTIC DIVAA five month old blue kitten with huge bush baby eyes that had excellent copper colour and lovely bold expression. The nose was short with a strong stop and was of even width. A firm chin balanced the face, the muzzle was developing and she had a scissor bite. The tail was short and thick with just a hint of tabby rings at present which hopefully will disappear in time. The coat was lovely, dense and very plush and exactly what an exotic cat should have. It felt soft and stood out well from the body and was a mid shade of blue. A sweet little soul who handled very well. AC Tabby, Smoke or Cream Cameo and White Kitten, Male1 and BOB Wilson’s TYTHERTON WHATSNOT TOLOVEAn eight month old pretty blue tabby and white kitten who had excellent bone conformity, of a good weight and size for his age. Very cobby frame that was solid and firm, having a well rounded rump and set on short thick legs. He had neat ears which had medium length white ear furnishings, sited far apart on his head which had good width and was well rounded and smooth. The eyes were large and round with very muddy eye colour that is very promising and should be deepest copper later. The cheeks were filling out well and he had a short nose with a strong nose break and a small pink nose leather with tiny nostrils that I would have liked to be larger. The chin was firm and muscular and he had a scissor bite. Tabby patches were blue over a beige agouti ground and he had tabby on the top of his head and a single spectacle encircling his left eye. The lower face was white and the body and underside were also mainly white with some small tabby patches. The coat was long and very soft with fluffy trousers and a good frill and was well presented.
