BEDFORD & DISTRICT CAT CLUB SHOW 24th April 2010Thank you to Linda and Alan Ward for allowing me the privilege of judging Household and Pedigree Pets. Also thanks to Mark Weale, stewarding for the first time. He handled each exhibit with care allowing them to show themselves to best advantage. The standard of entries was exceptionally good and made judging the Overall Best in Show a very difficult task. After lengthy deliberation I plumped for the Siamese kitten, Jimmy Rascal, who showed such confidence and poise for his first time on the show bench and he thoroughly enjoyed himself - what a character! IMPERIAL CLASS - Male( 1 present) AC Pedigree Pet Grand Master CatIGMC Pound's GMC BILLY PINKPAWS (Short Hair- Seal Point Siamese) MN 3 YrsGoodness me, the tallest cat I've ever seen. Unfurled his limbs like Bambi and came out for a good look round, wanted to see everything around him. Incredibly long legs that went all the way to the top. Very dark seal coat with extra shine, a super dark whip tail and deep set eyes of azure blue. Very dexterous with his paws, reached out and patted my face very gently whilst chatting non-stop. Excellent presentation and condition and a very intelligent personality. IMPERIAL CLASS – Female( 2 present) AC Pedigree Pet Grand Master CatIGMC Swingler's GMC VELVET( Short Hair – Brown Ticked Tortie Tabby) FN 1yr 5 mths Opened her pen and she shot out like a missile. Wrapped herself round Mark's neck and proceeded to kiss and chin rub until he nearly fell over. Then she did the same to me. She is ultra-friendly and wildly affectionate. Truly, madly, deeply sums her up. She has a real joie de vivre and sings sweet chirrups of joy all the while. Short ticked, tabby, red and tortie coat with striped pants and primrose yellow eyes. Very well groomed and presented. The other exhibit was very unlucky to meet her but you just can't beat her temperament and exceptional personality. GRAND CLASS - Male(2 present) AC Non Pedigree Master CatGMC Richard's IGMC KEVIN THE KOUNTRYKAT(Short Hair Ginger & White) MN 3yrs 6mths Ginger & white lad with almond shaped eyes of deepest orange and a noble, straight profile. You do get a lot of cat for your money here, he is a super weight, not fat, just huge and all muscle. Very well groomed, soft fluffy ginger coat and sparkling white parts. Ultra-confident out of his pen, he is a tail-up sort of a chap. Purred so much he got hiccups. Just beat his rival on his splendid, calm temperament. GRAND CLASS - Female(3 present) AC Non Pedigree Master Cat GMC Brown's MC HONEY(Short Hair Tabby) FN 1yr 11mths She has a most unusual coat pattern, wide stripes of dark grey interspersed with dark red. More tiger stripes than tabby and really attractive. Also pale chartreuse eyes and a shortish tail. She was very well presented and has the most delightful temperament. She has a supersoft coat and purred throughout judging. A gentle and refined girl who definitely caught the eye of my steward who offered to take her home. OPEN CLASSESNon-Pedigree Shorthair Classes Tabby Cat (except ginger/tortie) of any pattern with or without white - Male1st MC and BOC Jones's TEJAS(Short Hair – Blue Spotted Tabby and White) MN 1yr 1mth Extraordinary palest smokey blue spotted coat with slightly darker ears, matched with ultra white legs and shoulders and a white blaize down his spine. A most unusual blue colour and very beautiful with a wonderfully expressive face. He has ice blue eyes, rimmed with black liner in the manner of a wild lynx. He was anything but wild though, presentation and temperament were superb. 2. Stone's TIGGER( Short Hair – Grey Tabby) MN 6 yrs Classic dark grey tabby with wonderful stripes, darker spine with brown underparts and chin. He has lovely alert pointed ears and yellow eyes tinged with green. He gently waved his dark grey ringed tail throughout, very soppy temperament out of his pen. Well groomed and a very calm character. Tabby Cat (except Ginger/Tortie) of any pattern with or without White - Female 1st MC Brown's MC HONEYsee GRAND CLASS Pedigree Pet Longhair or Semi Longhair Red Cat of any pattern or AC Tortie/tortie Tabby with/without whiteConsidered only for Best of Class BOC Passfield-Taylor's GMC MISTY (LH Tortie) FN 2yrs 6 mthsShe has a chocolate and cream tortie coat, the colours mingled like melting ice cream. Expertly groomed and presented longhair coat. Aquamarine eyes and a very expressive face highlighted by a white blaize. Fabulous temperament and a proper show -off, she gave a wonderful tail shiver with the best plumed tail I have ever seen. Just gorgeous. Pedigree Pet Shorthair Open Classes Self colour cat with or without white -Male1st MC. Beswick's SOLOMON ( Short Hair -Lilac) MN 5 yrsBurmese lad greeted us with the traditional yowling. Relax, you're amongst friends here. He continued to chunter on and on about anything and everything, what a chatterbox. Has a very short plush dove grey coat which was very silky in texture and he feels like a big, soft cushion. On being cuddled he waved his left paw in the air in a very regal manner. Excellent temperament, a confident, gentle chap I would like at home. Self colour cat with or without white - Female1st MC and BOC Hope's INCA ( Short Hair - Black Self) FN 11 mthsAnother super friendly girl, very confident out of her pen. She has amazing deep orange eyes and a short, patent-leather black coat which shone like a mirror. She wanted to sit around my neck and view the hall. She chirruped like a canary the whole while and clearly enjoyed her day out. Excellent presentation. 2. Newberry's MAISIE( Short Hair – Tabby Tonkinese) FN 3 yrs Calm and confident with us out of her pen but muttered veiled threats constantly at the girl next door who she didn't take to. Her very soft, well groomed dark seal brown coat with darker points highlighted her beautiful pale blue eyes. She has a very expressive face and an awful lot to say for herself. Red Cat of any pattern or AC Tortie/Tortie Tabby with/without white1st MC and BOC Bernard's CHARLIE ( Short Hair - Red ) MN 2 yrs 6 mthsVery clear pale red coat colour, more intense on his points and so subtle. Pale yellow expressive eyes. His coat is very soft and short and was beautifully prepared. He has a lovely length of tail with a red stripe down it. He handled beautifully. A very elegant, gentle cat. ROYAL CANIN NON-PEDIGREE STAKES Black, White or Black & white1. Potter's BERTIE BASSETT ( Semi Long Hair - Black ) MN 8 mthsGreeted us with a very big yawn, then popped out, delighted to see us saying "Where have you been?" A very shiny well groomed coat, tinged with red on his tummy. I love his fluffy pantaloons and toe feathers and his unusual black whiskers and shiny black nose. A very nice calm chap who then sat right at the front of his pen in case he missed something. 2. Millett's SPICE (Short Hair - Black and White) FN 14 yrsI had to double check my book here as she doesn't look anything like her 14 years. Glossy black face with with white whiskers for contrast and a very shiny black coat. A few grey hairs scattered add dignity to this lady. A very alert girl but gentle to handle. Good presentation. 3. Macoy's MC SNOWDROP (Short Hair-White) FN 2yrs 1 mthShe was hiding under her blanket when we arrived, digging away. All I could see were her big yellow eyes. She was slightly apprehensive at first but settled well. She is heavier than she looks, a nice solid muscular body. Unfortunately she had got damp, clumping dark cat litter all over her otherwise pristine feet and it had stained her paws and her efforts to clean up had unsettled her. Ginger, Ginger & White, Tortie or Tortie and WhiteSuper class of teddies 1. Ivory's OTTO (Long Hair -Red Tabby) MN 7yrs 6mthsA huge long haired red lad. Holding him was like trying to hang onto a large pink, fluffy cloud. His coat was expertly presented, lovely soft pale red/pink with a feint cream tabby background with curly underparts. He has super side whiskers and deep set yellow expressive eyes and a well plumed tail. A real stunner with a calm temperament. 2. Richard's IGMC KEVIN THEKOUNTRYKATSee Grand Class 3. Potter's DUKE( Short Hair -Ginger and White) MN 13 yrs 8 mths A solid, muscular, ginger chap with a pleasingly broad face. Very confident, he stood beautifully still on the table for us to admire him. A big cat with huge white paws, red tabby stripes and a "Steady Eddie" personality. Excellent temperament and such fine condition for an older gent. Household Pet Miscellaneous Classes Cat or Kitten Never Shown Before1. Pound's Jimmy Rascal (Short Hair - Red Point Siamese) MN 7mthsWhat a confident novice kitten, had his happy, purry head on all the while. Another face stroker, is this a Siamese trait? Pale red tabby point who was very well groomed and presented. He has deep blue eyes and a very long whip tail with fetching tabby rings. He also has some nice notches on his tail, so useful for holding my jewellery safe. A right nosey lad, wanted to see everything, which is probably how he got a bump on his nose. Super-plus temperament and personality. Congratulations to his owner on his BIS win. 2. Bosworth's Emmie Rose ( Long Hair-Ginger Tabby) FN 2 yrsAn unusual long haired ginger tabby. Her colouring is a deep, vibrant red colour and very striking. She has a very fine coat with a silk like feel which was well groomed. Orange eyes with an excellent plumed tail. A gentle soul, she was a little nervous out of her pen and preferred to be inside. Cat or Kitten Under 3 yrs old1. Brown's MC HONEYSee Grand Class 2.
