GCCF SUPREME SHOW – NOVEMBER 2009 JUDGE: Charis White

I think I was one of the luckiest judges in the hall as I had the wonderful company of Sandie Holloway, Catherine Mann and Ruth Wehren as my stewards. Three lovely people, hard working and caring about the cats, who gave up their day to work, both morning and afternoon, handling the cats. Many thanks to you all, it was a pleasure to spend the day with you, as always. I appreciated your hard work.

BRITISH BLUE IMPERIAL OR GRAND CHAMPION FEMALE

1st, UK GCC withheld - BROWN’S IGRCH KOLINGA ALTHEA 11/04/05

Lovely cobby balanced female with a compact weighty four-square body, short stocky legs and rounded paws. Medium length tail with rounded tip. Full round head with well spaced ears of good size. Large round gold eyes. Nice full cheeks and short broad nose. Level bite in slightly square muzzle. Firm chin. Her coat is a fraction long and soft, but quite dense, the colour a medium blue which is sound to the roots but is just showing a degree of darker shading down the spine line. Unfortunately it was rather scurfy – too much for this level of award on the day. I think it’s a difficult time of year with weather and temperature changes, and scurf can appear from nowhere – then go again! She is worthy of high awards so it was disappointing for us all on the day.

BRITISH BLUE CHAMPION, MALE

GCC – BUJALSKA-AXON’S CH. DELPHINIUM MIGHTY ATOM 29/08/2007

Showing good maturity for his age with a broad deep substantial body, short sturdy legs and rounded paws. His tail is a little short for balance but is thick at the base and has a rounded tip. Broad round head with full cheeks and slightly open medium sized ears – they have good width between. Deep set, fairly round eyes of gold colour. Short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. His coat is slightly soft but dense and of good length. The medium blue is sound, just showing some silvery tipping. Good temperament.

BRITISH BLUE CHAMPION, FEMALE

GCC - GRAY’S CH PAMPURRED LADY BAZBRITS 06/05/05

Fairly mature female – she just still looks rather square around the muzzle. Medium sized body of good shape and weight, with fairly good breadth. Strong legs and rounded paws. Medium length tail with fairly rounded tip. Round head with slightly large open ears – good width between. Large gold eyes, fairly round, but just a little flat along the top line in shape. Broad nose, level bite and fairly firm chin. Her coat is dense and crisp, and of sound medium blue. Good condition and temperament.

2ND - YOUNG’S CH HARLEME GOSSAMER COBWEB 14/02/06

She is coming up to four years old and is rather small and immature for her age. She has quite a small frame – but of proportionate weight and shape – with short legs of fairly good bone, rounded paws, and a medium length tail with rounded tip. Round head with fairly full cheeks. Ears are rather upright and open. Large round gold eyes of good expression. Short broad nose and firm chin. She would not let me check her bite, and I drew the line rather than distress her. She has quite a short coat which has a good density and texture to it. The colour is sound medium blue but just shows some dark shading across the surface. I would have liked her bigger for this age.

BRITISH BLUE PRE-CHAMPION MALE

BOB, CC – TOWNSEND’S SKELLUM ELMO 16/09/07

Lovely mature boy of good proportions and balance. He has a solid cobby body of good depth, weighty and strong, with well boned legs and firm round paws. Balanced tail – he did have one, I forgot it on his critique! Broad round head with full cheeks and well spaced but slightly open ears. Round deep orange eyes – he had the best eye colour of all the Blues on the day. Broad nose and level bite, chin could be a fraction firmer. Lovely dense crisp short coat of fairly sound medium blue. A very attractive boy once he settled and relaxed.

2ND - GRAY’S STONEMARR KING-OF-KEON 31/10/08

Just over a year old and he is maturing well with a deep weighty body standing on short sturdy legs with large round paws. Good tail for length, thick at the base with a rounded tip. Broad head, with cheeks filling out, is just tapering to a slightly square muzzle. Ears are a fraction large for balance as yet. Good profile to broad nose, acceptable bite and firm chin. Lovely dense crisp coat which is short and of sound medium blue. Sweet temperament.

3RD - O’CONNOR’S HUMBUG TOPPLESLAD 15/09/07

He still looks rather young and immature as yet. His body is quite lean and needs to fill out but he was surprisingly weighty; he just lacks the cobby look of the British cat. He stands on reasonably well boned legs and paws. His head is fairly rounded but his cheeks have still to fill out and his ears are tall and open. Round gold eyes and broad nose. Rather narrow pinched muzzle, level bite and fairly firm chin. He has a short crisp coat of good density – it is of quite a dark blue shade and pales at the roots. He is taking his time for everything to come together at the moment.

BRITISH BLUE PRE-CHAMPION FEMALE

1ST, CC withheld – HARRIS’ ADATESH IRIS 30/05/08

Still a youngster who is maturing. She has a medium frame, proportionate in shape and of good weight, with medium legs and firm round paws. Tail balances to body. Round head with ears which are fairly well spaced but are rather tall and upright as yet. The head needs to broaden to get some balance. Cheeks are filling out. Deep set round gold eyes. Broad nose, acceptable bite and firm chin. Her coat is dense and crisp but it is on the long side and lies flat as a result. It is dark blue in shade but very unsound at the roots – my reason for withholding – and silvered at the surface. Sweet temperament.

BRITISH BI-COLOUR PRE-CHAMPION FEMALE

1ST, CC withheld – HARRIS’ ADATESH FREESIA – Blue & White 30/05/08

Medium framed female with a body which is broadening – she could be more weighty but she has balance. Round head has good width between slightly upright ears. Cheeks are filling out well. Round gold eyes and short broad nose. Level bite and fairly firm chin. Her coat is slightly long but crisp. She has correct proportions of white to blue with a white blaze and muzzle with blue muzzle patches. She has a white chin and chest, the white running down her tummy, with a blue patch on her chest. She has white legs and paws. She is the litter sister to the Blue girl above and is suffering with the same coat problem – the blue areas are very unsound and silvered, hence my withholding the award. She was also not very happy today! Good luck with them, and combining their good qualities with a stud with the right coat qualities.

AOC SELF BRITISH IMPERIAL OR GRAND PREMIER, MALE

UKGPC & BOB – ANDERSON-CARTER’S GR PR ROCADANNE BLACKJACK – Black 04/10/07

Very large deep bodied male of extremely heavy weight! His body has just outgrown his head a little for balance. He stands on good strong thick legs with firm round paws. Medium length tail with rounded tip. Broad head with full cheeks – his ears are just rather tall. Deep set round orange eyes, good profile, level bite and firm chin. Good texture to dense, quite short coat. The colour is fairly sound jet black. Such a heavyweight! A sweet boy but quite shy.

BRITISH BLACK PRE-PREMIER FEMALE

1ST, PC – WADDELL’S BISHOP’S GR CH ADMEWSH HARRYSGIRL 17/03/02

Lovely mature balanced female with a compact, balanced cobby body, short strong legs and rounded paws. Medium length tail with rounded tip. She has a round head with neat well spaced ears and full cheeks. Large round gold eyes, short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Short dense crisp coat of jet black just fades a little at the roots. A shy, mature, attractive cat – she will do well in her neuter career, I am sure. Difficult to choose between them for

BOB. BRITISH LILAC PREMIER MALE

GPC, BOB - DUNSTONE’S PR RAYANSHEL’S GANDALF THE GREY 26/05/08

Still a youngster who is maturing – he looks a little young but he has a large, slightly long but deep, frame with super bone to legs and paws. Thick tail of good length with rounded tip. Broad round head with full cheeks developing. Ears just a fraction large for balance. Large round gold eyes. Short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. His coat is a fraction long but it is dense and crisp, the lilac colour of good tone, even, clear and sound. He was not in the best of moods but he is developing well and is in good condition!

BRITISH CREAM PRE-PREMIER MALE

PC, BOB – TRICKER’S MIBAYBESE ENTREPRENEUR 04/09/08

This boy is only a year old and has plenty of time to gain the maturity he needs. He has rather a long body, with good depth and weight but it just needs to broaden to balance out. Good strong legs of medium length, round paws. Good tail. His head is getting the roundness – it needs to broaden – but the cheeks are filling out. Ears are rather large for balance while he waits for this to happen. Large round eyes of good colour and expression. Broad nose. Slightly square muzzle. Level bite and firm chin. His coat is a little long, but dense and crisp in texture, the colour is medium cream, sound in shade but still showing some ghost pattern, including some rings on his tail. He needs to mature but he has a good show temperament and I understand that he became a Premier on the day so congratulations.
