THE THREE COUNTIES CAT CLUB 16.8.2008 – MRS ANNE GREGORY

Another excellent Three Counties Show with warm hospitality and some beautiful cats to judge, I must thank Ivor and Sheila for the invitation; I really enjoyed my day. I was also very grateful to my steward, Georgina, whose excellent company, enjoyment of the cats across the breeds and hard work was the icing on the cake!

AV IMPERIAL FOREIGN GRAND CHAMPION, FEMALE

1IGC DARBY’S GR CH THICKTHORN MEADOW SAFFRON, 73B, F, 20.3.2005

A beautiful female who looked athletic but who was also graceful. Very good head forming a modified wedge with a slight curve to the cheeks and a broad, well-defined muzzle. There was a gentle rise from the bridge of the nose to the brow. Slight dip to the profile. Good chin and firm jaw. Has a whisker pinch. The ears were reasonably large, wide at the base and with the correct angle for the set. Large, almond eye, set slightly obliquely towards the ears. Brilliant eye colour. Long body that was lithe and muscular with good legs and tail. Short, glossy coat that was close-lying and sleek. Rich chocolate spotting on a copper agouti. Dark tail tip. Excellent definition to the spotting and attractive facial markings. Excellent contrast. Beautifully presented in sparkling condition and a worthy winner of this high award.

RES: ROBINSON’S GR CH KARESAMA SILVER SEASPRITE, 72 43BSQ, F, 21.11.2002

A pleasing Asian with very good type and look. The wedge was broad with rounded contours and a blunt finish to the muzzle. Medium ears set well apart with the top of the head gently curved. Large eyes set well. The top line slanted towards the nose and the lower line was nicely rounded. Very expressive. In profile, the brow showed a gentle curve to the bridge of the nose. Distinct nose break and straight nose. Good chin. Hard, lithe body with excellent muscle tone. Straight back and rounded chest. Slender legs with oval paws and a good tail to balance. Short coat that was fine and close-lying. Medium shading in chocolate on a paler silver ground. Excellent condition but with a slightly feisty temperament.

AC BURMESE IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER, MALE

1 IGP POWER’S IMP GR PR MAINMAN RAJAH, 27B, MN, 11.8.2003

A truly gorgeous Burmese with star quality, it was a real pleasure to just stand there and cuddle him! Excellent type and balance overall and he knows it! Short wedge with width at the cheeks and a blunt finish to the muzzle. The top of the head was slightly rounded between the medium ears. They were broad at the base and rounded at the tips. Slight forward tilt. Excellent eyes, large and particularly expressive. The top line slanted towards the nose and the lower line was rounded. Good yellow tone. Good depth to the head; in profile, the brow was gently rounded with a distinct nose break and a straight nose with a good depth of chin. The body was solid and muscular but a little plump. Excellent slender legs with oval paws. Straight tail of medium thickness that tapered to a rounded tip and was of proportional length. Superb coat quality, it was short, fine and really glossy. Excellent rich chocolate tone that was even. Confident, friendly and affectionate, he was in first rate condition and a great ambassador for the breed. Later BIS Burmese – many congratulations!

AC BURMESE IMPERIAL GRAND PREMIER, FEMALE

1 IGP POWER’S UK & IMP GR PR MAINMAN BURMASTAR, 27, FN, 19.5.2001

Another star from the same stable and just as much a pleasure to judge! Beautiful, confident and serene, she knew she had that five star quality and showed herself to great advantage. Excellent type, she was a walking Burmese SOP!! I particularly loved her coat, it was really short, fine, close-lying and satiny; such a rich warm seal brown and wonderful to the touch. These two cats really made my day special – Thank you.

WHITE PERSIAN (ORANGE-EYED), NEUTER

1 PC COOKE’S FIRANTY ICEONTHE ROCKS, 2A, MN, 26.7.2005

A solid, balanced cat who had been prepared to the last hair and was immaculate. The head was round with great breadth of skull and well balanced. At present, he has a summer coat and so his ears looked a little open and prominent. They were rounded at the tips, set well apart and low with full furnishings. Full cheeks and rounded forehead. Short, broad nose with a stop. Full pink leather. Full muzzle and strong chin. Bite good. Excellent eyes, they were large, full and round; the colour was a rich copper; they were set well apart with a bold expression. Medium body of cobby type with a broad, deep chest and excellent muscle tone. Short, sturdy legs with large, round, tufted paws. Short, bushy tail that balanced well. The coat was a reasonable length and density for the season. It was fine and soft in texture. Some frill to frame the face. Excellent condition and temperament.

RED/TORTIE GROUP BIRMAN ADULT

1 CC + BOB PORTSMOUTH’S CH CHURSTON MUSCAR CRISPEN, 13C5, M, 16.8.2006

A well grown, muscular Birman of good type. The head showed strength with breadth of skull and rounded contours. Cheeks full and round. Slight dip to the profile but the chin sloped away. Medium ears spaced well apart. Large eyes, almost round and a good blue. Long body that was muscular and well coveed. Medium legs and strong paws. The tail was of balanced length, in proportion to the body. Silky coat that was well prepared. The socks were a little low but the gauntlets well formed. The gloves were well marked. Rich red points and showing good contrast although there was some shading on the back and sides. Excellent condition and temperament.

BRITISH BI-COLOUR ADULT, MALE

1 CC HOLLOWAY’S CH LORASTON JUST-WILLIAM, 31A, M, 12.8.2007

Handsome young male with potential. Excellent size, substance and boning for his age. Very good head showing breadth of skull. The face was round with full cheeks. Neat ears set well apart in the contours of the head. Large eyes, round, well opened and a good orange tone. Short, broad nose and good chin. Excellent cobby body with a solid muscular feel and he stood square on short, strong legs. Deep chest and straight back. Very good coat, particularly for the season; it was short, dense and crisp. Well defined bi-colour pattern with medium blue that was virtually sound and immaculate white. Inverted “V” to the face. White collar and underparts. Excellent condition and temperament.

BRITISH BI-COLOUR ADULT, FEMALE

BOB LeMONNIER’S GR CH LORASTON LIBERTY BELLE, 31F, F, 15.5.2004

A beautiful, mature female of excellent type and style. She beat the male for the BOB as she was the “finished article”! Excellent copper eyes that were very expressive. Lovely bicolour as the cream was that pale colour that has an almost pink tinge to it and it was very clear of markings.

CREAM BURMESE ADULT, MALE

1 CC/WH CLARKE’S DOREVALLEY AKHENATON, 27F, M, 29.4.2006

This Burmese male was of fair type and did not have the quality I would expect for a Challenge Certificate. The head was of medium length, rather narrow and needing more width at the cheekbones, with a rounded muzzle. The ears were rather large, flared and set slightly high on the head. Medium length nose with a shallow concave curve rather than a distinct nose break. The chin sloped away. The eyes were set quite well apart but rather small and almond shaped. Chartreuse tone. One eye was watering slightly. Medium length body that was a good weight although he appears rather rangy. Slender legs with oval paws. The tail was of medium length and tapered. The coat was moderately short and fairly close lying. Slightly coarse to the touch on the back. He was a particularly hot cream although free of barring. Good temperament.

BROWN TORTIE BURMESE ADULT

1 CC + BOB JARVIS’S CH KYMIAN QUIZZICAL, 27E, F, 17.6.2001

A beautiful female with type, style and charisma! Excellent type and balance overall. Short, broad wedge with width at the cheeks and a blunt finish to the muzzle. Medium ears, wide at the base and set well apart in the gently rounded top of head to continue the lines of the upper part of the face. Excellent eyes, large, very expressive and set well apart. The top line showed a slight slant towards the nose and the lower line was nicely rounded. Yellow chartreuse tone. Short nose with a distinct break. The tip of the nose lined up with the chin and there was excellent depth to the skull. Hard, muscular body of medium length with a straight back and the chest nicely rounded. Slender legs with dainty oval paws. The tail balanced well. Excellent coat, short, fine, very glossy and close lying. Attractive brown tortie pattern. Wonderful temperament and shown in tip top condition. Another joy to judge, she knew she was special! I also considered Hutchison’s CH IRREP AMONDI for the BOB – she was a lovely cat but unlucky to meet the winner.

AOC TORTIE BURMESE ADULT

1 CC + BOB JARVIS’S KYMIAN ROANNA, 27H, F, 26.7.2007

A very pretty young female with potential. Very good head developing with the width to balance the short, blunt wedge. Well set ears of medium size. Excellent eyes of the correct shape and set. Very expressive, she looks really mischievous! Excellent depth to the head and a definite nose break. Muscular body with slender legs and oval paws. The tail tapered and balanced well. Excellent short, close coat with a glossy sheen and rich chocolate tortie. Excellent temperament and condition.

2 KITSON’S PARVATI CORN DOLLY, 27H, F, 12.10.2007

A young female who needs a little more time to “come together” in my opinion. The head needs more breadth at the cheeks to balance the length. The ears were of medium size and set well apart. The top of the head was gently rounded, as was the brow when viewed in profile. The nose break could be more defined and the muzzle fined rather than giving a blunt finish. Good eye shape and colour although she was looking a little anxious. Good body, legs and tail. The coat was moderately short and close lying with a healthy gloss. Lovely rich chocolate tortie tones. Excellent temperament and condition.

HAVANA ADULT

1 CC + BOB BODDY’S SEETEEZ STANDING OVATION, 29, M, 1.9.2007

Long, elegant and muscular Havana with style. Even wedge of good length with the width between the large, well set and flared ears to balance. Oriental eye shape and set. The colour was a very good emerald green. Straight profile and reasonable chin. Long, muscular body that was svelte and masculine. Long fine legs and oval paws. The tail was fine but could be longer for balance. Short, close coat that was a rich chestnut with a healthy sheen. Almost sound to the roots. Excellent condition and temperament.

HAVANA NEUTER

1 PR + BOB BRIGHT’S PR MIDAMYST SPARKLEMAKER, 29, MN, 5.11.2006

A very handsome and elegant Havana with real style and balance. Excellent wedge with even lines to the fine muzzle. Excellent ears for size and set. The eyes were of Oriental shape and set. Excellent green tone and a wicked expression. Straight profile and good depth to the chin. Long, fine, muscular body with very good legs and tail. Short, close coat that was a sound, rich, chestnut brown. Excellent glossy sheen. Excellent condition and temperament.

ORIENTAL BI-COLOUR NEUTER

1 IC + BOB WHISTON’S LEBRETON CHEYENNE PLAINS, 48 40, MN, 6.7.2006

A handsome and confident cat of excellent type and style. Excellent balanced wedge with even lines and large, well flared ears set well apart to form and equilateral triangle. Straight profile and good depth to the chin. Excellent blue eyes of Oriental shape and set with a wicked expression! Elegant neck and head carriage. Long, fine, svelte body with a solid muscular feel. Fine legs and tail. Short fine coat that was close-lying. Excellent seal points and he had some contrast. There were white patches to the face, underparts and all four legs. I felt he did make it to more than one third white and was delighted to award the IC.

AC PERSIAN BI-COLOUR NEUTER

1 FISHER-ALLEN’S GR PR ZENDIQUE SLEEPLESS KNIGHTS, 70 31T, MN, 29.8.2006

This handsome Exotic really has Personality Plus in spades!!!!! Confident and cuddly!!! Excellent type and balance overall, the head is round and massive with excellent breadth of skull and neat little round tipped ears set well apart and low in the rounded contours of the head. Full cheeks and muzzle with breadth at the jaws. In profile, the forehead is rounded and he has a short nose with a stop. Leather could be larger but the nostrils are fully formed. Strong chin and short, thick, powerful neck. Wonderfully large, round eyes of excellent deep orange, set wide apart and so expressive – he looked like an owl !!!! Cobby, strong body with a broad, deep chest and he really has massive shoulders and rump. Short, thick legs and large, round, firm paws. The tail was short, in proportion and rounded at the tip. Summer coat but it stood away well and was presented to perfection. Immaculate white and such a clearly defined tabby pattern. A joy to judge and my steward was smitten too; sadly he is far too large to fit in an overall pocket!

2 THOMAS’S GR PR LINNEL TEDDIE, 12A5, MN, 9.6.2003

A mature, balanced and handsome cat who was unlucky to meet the winner. Excellent size, substance and type. Massive head with breadth to the skull and rounded contours. Small ears set wide apart; they were rounded at the tips and well furnished. Full cheeks and muzzle with width at the jaws. Short broad nose with a good leather and nostrils. In profile the forehead was round. Short, broad nose of even width with a stop. Good depth to the chin and virtually level bite. Large and cobby, he stood low on short, thick, strong legs with large, round, well tufted paws. Broad, deep chest and broad across the shoulders and rump. Summer coat that was beautifully presented. It was a good length for the season and he had a frill to frame the face. Fine and soft to the touch. Mainly a rich red, virtually sound and even in tone on the head and top of the body. There was a white inverted “V” on the face. White underparts and a small white patch on the back. Small red patches on all legs. Excellent condition and temperament, unlucky to meet the winner.
