Many thanks to Elaine and Lisa for the invitation to judge and to the West Country Cat Club for their hospitality. A most enjoyable day with some lovely cats.

AV FOREIGN GRAND CHAMPION ADULT MALE

1 IGR CC MISKELLY’S GR CH GLENDAVAN KAISER SOEZE 23 M 23.8.07

Nicely balanced, lithe, muscular and well developed two plus year old boy. Gently rounded contours to head and gently rounded from top of head to brow. Good breadth to head which is gently rounded between the ears forming a moderate wedge tapering to a slightly rounded muzzle, formed by a slight indentation. Pleasing profile line with slight nose break and nose straight to tip. Level bite and fair depth, level chin. Large, well cupped ears, pricked and with furry inner edges, slight tufts at tips and set wide apart. Outer line of the ear follows the outer contours of the face. Large, amber coloured, expressive eyes set well apart and of full almond shape and oriental set. Medium build and size to weighty body with a straight back and rounded rib cage. Slender legs in proportion to body and small oval feet. Tail, thick at base, tapering gently to tip and of good length to balance body. Coat is short, fine and of lovely dense texture and close lying. Usual Abyssinian of ruddy orange base colour and good black ticking with distinct bands of colour. Well defined black facial markings. Pale hair around eyes and dark edge to eyelid. Ruddy orange ears with darker tone to tips. Paler orange chin and lips. Black ticking colour extends down spine and tail to a black tip. I would prefer the black to extend further up the hocks. A really lovely temperament and a pleasure to judge.

AV FOREIGN GRAND CHAMPION ADULT FEMALE

1 IGR CC ARNOLD’S GR CH PAPAVER ANDROMEDA 33 31s F 20.9.07

Well balanced two plus year old lady with the most delightful temperament. Medium wedge has high cheek bones and head length is about one third greater than the width and narrows to a nicely rounded muzzle. Level bite and fair depth rounded chin. In profile flat skull curves gently at brow and continues straight to tip. Large ears well set high on head, wide at base and tapering to rounded tips. Good size to oval shaped, pale yellow eyes with top line set almost straight with slight slant to the outer edge of ear. Elegant but deceptively weighty girl with a hard and muscular, medium length body and an elegant neck. Long, slim legs and small oval paws. Good length fine and tapering tail well covered in wavy fur. Lovely short and dense coat of silky texture with well rippled fur on back sides and tail. Long crinkled whiskers and eyebrows.

 R IGR CC WOODLEY’S GR CH HONPUSS ZIATH 72 43nq F 31.3.04

Nearly six year old lady of very good size and weight with a good firm feel to medium length body with a rounded chest and straight back with shapely, proportionate legs and neat oval paws. Good length and shape to slightly tapering tail with a rounded tip. Coat is nice and short, just slightly dense but close lying and of excellent satin like texture. Caramel Shaded Asian with burmese colour restriction of darkish caramel shading to pale mushroom ground colour. Faint facial markings and faint broken necklace. Short wedge, wide at cheek bones and with a blunt muzzle. Very good width to gently rounded top of head between well set and shaped, medium sized ears. Profile shows slight flattening to brow, good nose break and fairly short, straight nose which rounds slightly at tip. Level bite and fair depth, level chin. Large and lustrous, pale green eyes set well apart and with a ‘typical’ expression. Naughty but nice.

AC BURMESE GRAND CHAMPION ADULT MALE

1 IMP Withheld MATHEWS’S GR CH KATCHYN KONTIKI 27 M 7.2.08

Nearly two year old boy of very good size and weight with good muscle tone. Medium length and build to body with proportionate length, shapely legs and neat oval paws. Brown Burmese of deep brown with a good sheen to coat which is fairly short and close lying and of very good texture. Good width to slightly rounded top of head between generous sized ears just held a bit low for my liking. In profile slight flattening to brow, good nose break, nose a bit long but straight. Level bite and fair depth chin., Pale yellow eyes are set well apart but are too small and oval in shape rather than the large and lustrous look required. Sorry to withhold but the eyes are so much a part of ‘Burmese’ characteristics and must be right to give this high award. Nice natured boy.

BRITISH BLUE CREAM KITTEN

1 & BOB McLEAN’S COLINSWOOD THOMASINA 28 F 2.7.09

Six month old girl growing slightly out of balance at present but of good size and weight with good muscle tone. Nice round face has full cheeks and good breadth to skull with rounded top of head with good width between medium sized ears set far apart and rounded at tips. Rounded brow and short, straight, broad nose. Level bite and fair depth chin. Deep orange colour to large and well open eyes set wide apart. Slightly long rather than compact body but with a level back, low on legs and with a well rounded chest. Short, well boned legs and firm, rounded paws. Good tail medium in length, thicker at base and rounded at tip. Coat is fairly short but needs to develop more density, just the soft side of crisp in texture. Blue-Cream British of prettily intermingled deepish blue and dark toned cream. Sweet natured.

AV SELKIRK REX KITTEN MALE

1 & BOB WALKER’S AMAZOLOU MR BRIGHTSIDE 79L43 M 11.5.09

Delightful eight month old kitten with a stunning coat. Round underlying bone structure to broad, round head with a slight curve to the top of the head and full cheeks. Head is set on a short thick neck. Pleasing profile line with a rounded forehead, medium nose break and short, broad nose with a downward slant, just marginally spoilt by a very slight bump spoiling the straight line from break to tip. Medium width to muzzle with well padded whisker pads giving a good rectangular look. Level bite and fair depth, level chin. Ears are set well apart and fit the outer contours of the face, medium in size and broad at base. Large, yellowy-green, round, well open eyes set well apart. Cobby body with a level back, equally broad shoulders and rump giving a rectangular appearance. Well boned, medium length legs and firm rounded paws. Medium length tail is thicker at base and has a rounded tip, plumy curls to fur just slightly straighter down the top of the tail. Black Silver Shaded Longhair Selkirk Rex with a semi longhair coat of super structure, thick and dense standing out from the body with lots of loose individual curls with a soft, plush feel to them. Shorter curls down the legs all the way down to his toes. Longer curls around the neck making a good ruff to frame the face. Lovely temperament.

2 WALKER’S AMAZOLOU SKARAMOOSH 79L20a MN 17.4.09

Almost nine month old boy of excellent size and weight and looking well balanced. Round underlying bone structure to round head with full cheeks and good breadth to gently rounded top of head. In profile rounded forehead which is slightly heavy looking at the brow line so slightly spoiling his expression, rather strong nose break but short, broad straight nose which has a very slight downward slant. Medium width to muzzle with well padded whisker pads and with nice curly whiskers. Level bite and good depth, level chin. Medium sized ears broad at base and set well apart to fit the contours of his face, neat tufts at the tips. Large, green eyes set wide apart with a full shape to the lower line but I would prefer to see more fullness to the top line for a good round shape. Level back to good length body of good rectangular appearance with equally broad chest and rump. Medium boned and length legs with firm, rounded paws. Medium length tail, thicker at base and with a rounded tip and well covered with plumy curls. Blue Tabby Selkirk Rex Longhair with a really full semi-longhair coat which is thick and dense and stands out from his body in loose light curls with a soft, plush feel to them. Full ruff of tight, long curls framing his face. Light curl to long cheek fur. Lovely natured boy.

3 HUTCHINSON’S BUSYKITZ CURLY-HARRY 79S 43S M 22.5.09

Sizable seven month old boy growing out of balance at present and looking a bit like a teenager. Round underlying bone structure to broad head with slightly curved top of head and fairly full cheeks. Head is set on a fairly short, thick neck. Slight rounding to forehead, nice nose break and short, broad, straight nose with a slight downward slant. Fair width to muzzle but I would prefer more padding to his whisker pads. Level bite and fair depth chin. Medium to larger sized ears but broad at base and set well apart. Wide set to large, round, yellow eyes. Level back to long body with good breadth to shoulders and rump. Medium boned, long legs and large rounded paws. Longish tail but thicker at base and rounded at tip, well covered in fur but straight rather than with a curl. Black Silver Shaded Selkirk Rex with short coat of uniform length which I would prefer slightly thicker and denser but individual light, curls over body have a soft, plush feel to them. Ruff to frame face still to develop. Delightful character.

AV SELKIRK REX KITTEN FEMALE

2 1ST Withheld WINN’S ACOZNI THUMBELINA 79L 43A F 30.6.09

Blue Shaded Selkirk Rex Longhair with a thick, dense coat standing out from the body in good loose individual curls down her sides and a hint of a wave down the spine, all with a soft, plush feel to them. Good loose curls to developing ruff to frame her face and tufts to ear tips. Sweet natured.

Large, pointed ears, wide at base and with a good vertical set with the outer line following the outer contours of her face. Long, proportionate legs to balance body and neat oval paws with blue pads. Moderately long, gently tapering tail to balance body. Fairly dense, short coat standing out from her body, just close lying down her spine. Fine and soft in texture. Russian Blue of medium blue colour which is sound to the roots and with a slight silvery sheen overall. Lovely temperament.

SINGAPURA ADULT

BOB ARCHER’S GR CH SHADANZA TANZANITE 77 F 2.5.02

Dainty appearance to this nearly eight year old lady. Good look to head when viewed from the front but I would prefer a little more depth to the skull when viewed from the side. Rounded width at outer eye narrows to a definite whisker break. Medium, short, broad muzzle with blunt nose. Elegant four month old baby girl. Short wedge from the tip of the nose to eyes is equidistant with the eyes to the ears. Flat appearance to top of head between the ears. Fairly prominent whisker pads making a fairly good muzzle which I would like to see a little broader. Blue nose leather. In profile she has a straight forehead to upper eye level, very shallow concave curve at eye line then nose is straight to tip. Level bite but slightly receding chin. She is still teething and this may be slightly distorting her lower face shape. Large, pointed ears, wide at base and vertically set with the outer line following the outer contours of her face. Eyes set wide apart, almond in shape giving a gentle expression but showing a bluey tinge to the colour with the desired green still developing. Elegant, long body of medium bone and good weight. Long proportionate legs balance body and small oval paws with blue pads. Moderately long, gently tapering tail to balance body. Double coat with very dense undercoat still developing but short, fine and soft in texture. Russian Blue of even medium blue colour with a light silvery sheen. Rings on tail. Sweet natured.

Level bite but slightly shallow chin. Large, well cupped ears, pricked and with furry inner edges and set wide apart. Outer line of the ear follows the outer contours of the face. Large, expressive, deep golden coloured eyes set well apart, full almond shape and oriental in set. Nicely balanced boy of medium build and size to body with a straight back and rounded rib cage. Slender, proportionate length legs and small oval feet. Tail, thick at base, tapering gently to tip and of good length. Coat is short, fine, fairly dense in texture and close lying.
