Many thanks for the very kind invite to come north of the border! Lovely well run show and many thanks to Jennifer Flemming the Cumberland show manager for doing a most excellent job of stewarding and handling the brits and for such excellent company. Congratulations indeed to Miss Nock’s IMP GR PR Bellringer Adhara (27j) my choice for Best Burmese Neuter on being awarded the Overall Burmese by Steve Crow! A stunning lilac tortie who is every inch a true Burmese! Also to Ms H Goodwin’s Ilona Cobweb (apltly named) a Black Smoke Selkirk Rex (who I judged in the open) for becoming Best British Kitten. The hall lighting was brighter with natural daylight in the morning and we could easily see a change to eye colour and coats in the late afternoon!

AC BSH GR CH ADULT FEMALE

IMP W/H WANDBY’S GR CH ANTHARY FOREVER AMBER (21c) 2yrs 5mths.

Sorry to withhold but I am afraid she was so tense and angry that I couldn’t judge her properly, despite leaving her to relax and trying again. From what I saw I liked her type and she has beautiful delicate lilac and pale cream mingling, but she did also show a green rim in the morning, which incidentally wasn’t as evident by the afternoon when the light changed. I had a long chat with her owner who, in view of the importance of this type of award, took it very well.

AC BSH GR PR NEUTER FEMALE

IMP GR PC CARRUTHERS’ GR CH & GR P SCOTKITZ VISION INBLUE (16) 9YEARS 2MTHS.

Stunning blue lass who has obviously had a wonderful show career indeed. Excellent size and weight and balance, still muscular but slightly portly around the middle now with age but in fabulous condition. Typy apple head shape with lovely neat ears set well apart. Short nose, level bite and chin, fabulous cheeks. Gorgeous large round eyes of pale gold now but she is forgiven! Short dense but soft coat, pales marginally at the roots. Thick tail but slightly short. Very relaxed indeed.

AC BSH PR NEUTER FEMALE

GR PC SMITH’S CH TEMPLEGATES CARMEN (39) 4YEARS 9MTHS.

I see this cat is down as just being a champion not a premier so I hope it was an oversight as she certainly deserved the award of grand pr today. Very pretty and balanced black tipped girl with a super apple head and solid body supported by short thick legs. Expressive green eyes correctly outlined in black, short nose with pale brick leather, untidy but acceptable bite. Neat ears with plenty of width between. Excellent well filled cheeks, short neck, straight back and a lovely cobby body shape. Tail has rings and is a trifle short to balance but is nice and broad at the base. Her coat is a mite long but is crisp and very dense with medium to heavy tipping that is mainly even, just a smatter of unevenness down the very centre of the back and tail.

2nd RES GR PC WITHELD. GRISS’ PR GRISELIAN DISCO DIVA (40/3) 1YR 3MTHS

Out of balance lass, just needs to grow into her body length, fill out and balance the head to body. Her head is fairly rounded but her chin recedes so this currently makes her look more oval than round. Nice width between the ears, but they are a bit large for her head at present, short nose, level bite, good fullness to cheeks. Points match nicely for colour tone which is dark chocolate but the legs and mask and tail are very brindled and not complete. The tail is also heavily ringed and quite long to balance. Her coat is a tad long and soft and lay flat so it needed more density. The contrast between points and the shaded but tonally correct body colour is fine. Pale blue nicely rounded eyes, that had a nice expression to them. Friendly girl.

BLACK SILVER TABBY ADULT

1ST CC W/H DAVIES’ ALFRESCA SILVER YASMINE 9MTHS.

Sorry to withhold but as explained she looked very kittenish and had a number of faults evident today. She is pretty in her type but is a small light boned girl. Round head shape with large ears that she held splayed out and appeared flared so this spoilt the balance. Her nose is fawned and has a bump in profile, bite is level but the chin slopes back. Cheeks need to fill more as yet. Legs a tad long and fawned at her feet. Fairly round hazel eyes. Her coat is flat, needs more density and texture and the pattern was a wishy washy black due to both heavy brindling and the undercoat showing through. The butterfly was vague and the oysters were muddled and surrounded by incomplete rings, tramlines not quite straight and brindled too. There is just about sufficient contrast between the bright ground but this is brindled too. Her tail needs more rings.

BOB: HARRISON’S CH ALFRESCA VENUS LITTLEGEM 1YR 9MTHS

Balanced nicely patterned lass, would just prefer a rounder larger eye for perfection.

AC BSH BI-COLOUR ADULT FEMALE

1ST CC & BOB JAY’S PINEMARTIN FLOWER (31A) 1YR 6MTHS.

Super well grown large and balanced lady of promise. Chunky girl of fabulous bone, cobby and supported by thick legs. Open face, lovely expression, very good width between her large round eyes of lovely orange tone, short straight broad nose, fat cheeks; level bite and chin of good depth. Her coat is fairly short and even in length, a mite soft and pales at the roots marginally but is a nice pale blue with just a very light silvering at the tips. The patching is fairly balanced, well within the required ratio of nice bright white, quite nice demarcation, just one or two scattered hairs. Cute blue patch on chin. Fully coloured tail.

Also considered for BOB was PROUT’S CH SKELLUM ANNIESTTREASURE (31A) 2YRS 4MTHS.

A smaller lass not of the build and stature of the winner, her type is not as open and head development was not as mature for the age as the winners in comparison for me. Super patching, good demarcation but a dark blue.

AC COLOURPOINTED KITTEN MALE

1ST & BOB MACLEAY’S KRUZINKAL STEEL DAWN (40/4) 5MTHS 4 WKS.

Stunning kitten!. Which is what I wrote on the results slip. I think if Jennifer and I could have fitted him into one of our pockets we would! Amazing development for his age too. Superb type, lovely open innocent wide eyed expression and head type. Pale and clear blue eyes. Excellent fat cheeks; level bite, firm chin. Close coupled cobby solid body supported by very thick chunky short legs. Beautiful points of pale even toned lilac that matched totally. Excellent body colour contrast as his coat is totally clear, a fraction long if I had to nit pick, clear though, no shading and marginally soft. Overall a gorgeous boy!

2nd ORBELL-MCQUEEN’S LARNIKAT MR BEAUBUMBLE (40/3) 6MTHS 3WKS.

Very nice lad, just slightly smaller than the winner but of good balance and weight. Round head with neat ears that have plenty of width between them and set well. Round but smaller eyes than the winner, nice depth of blue though, well done! Good fullness to cheeks, short nose, level bite and chin. Points are a rich chocolate and match for colour tone but he is brindled on the legs. Minor tonal shading to his back but this is perfectly acceptable. Good contrast to body colour. His coat is also a fraction long but it too is nice and dense although slightly soft. Tail is broad at base with a fairly rounded tip.

AC COLOURPOINTED KITTEN FEMALE

1ST. MACLEAY’S KRUZINKAL DREAMS (40/12) 6MTHS.

Dinky little poppet of gorgeous type too, just wish she was bigger for her age as she is quite small. Super head type, lovely open expression with large round mid blue eyes correctly displaying spectacles. Neat ears also set well apart, full cheeks in balance, level bite and chin. Cobby little body of good weight for her frame. Slightly slender legs but in proportion. Excellent pale blue tabby points, very clearly defined. Coat is short and dense, marginally soft as yet.

AC SELKIRK REX KITTEN INTERMEDIATE FEMALE

1ST & BOB GOODWIN’S ILONA COBWEB (79s36) 5MTHS.

Slightly small baby for her age but for type and coat of good promise. Very good Selkirk expression, lovely width between, to nit pick, ears that I would prefer a mite more medium in size, set well though. Large round eyes, lovely expression. Short downward slanting nose, level bite and chin of good depth that lines up. Excellent fullness to the width across the cheeks when the fur is parted. The muzzle is just starting to develop shape and has some breadth. Medium length legs, straight back, still to develop rectangular body shape. Excellent coat! Pleasing texture too. Really tight, even waves, right down to the roots and stands well away from the body all over. Tail is a bit pointy but nice and wavy too. Whiskers are a tad straight as are the eyebrows.

2nd MORRISON’S KURLILOX ALYSSA (79S 40/6) 7MTHS.

Super bone and body development to this lass with a very good rectangular body shape standing on medium sized thick legs. Unfortunately her head shape isn’t in balance at present and she isn’t as full cheeked as the winner when considering where I would expect her head development to be at this age. Plenty of width between correct ears for size and shape. Slightly long downward slanting nose; Level bite but chin slopes back a tad. Eyes are marginally smaller than I would like to see to be in balance too. The muzzle is more of a pinch than developing a rectangular shape. The coat is slightly harsh to touch, is a good mix of tight curls and waves but is slightly straighter on her back. Tail is long and has good waves.

BLACK SILVER TABBY NEUTER MALE

1ST. PC & BOB W/H MACHIN-CAMPBELL’S VISATCHE STERLING 1YR 7MTHS.

Big well grown lad nice and solid but far too slender boned for a boy. His head is rounded but with rather generous sized ears set quite well apart though. Short nose but has a bump in profile and too much fawning. Round eyes of pale green. His bite is very untidy and his chin recedes quite a bit, also has considerable fawning to his lips and muzzle which is incorrect. His coat is too long and soft, thus losing the pattern definition which together with the brindling to the ground and pattern too made for a very muddled wishy washy effect. So sorry to disappoint, but he isn’t reaching the standard, particularly because of his coat length and pattern faults.

BLACK SILVER SPOTTED NEUTER MALE

1ST. PC&BOB WITHELD. DAVIES ALFRESCA SILVER YEATES 9MTHS.

Now this lad was very well developed but all out of balance. His head is broad across the top between his ears, tapering to a narrow muzzle and lacks cheeks so didn’t appear rounded today. The ears are large and too wide at the base and not in keeping with his head shape. The nose is a tad long, bite is level and chin slopes back. He is weighty and solid with a long body supported by long legs so he will take some time to fill out his frame. The coat is short but lay flat, lacked body and density. The pattern isn’t bad at all, elongated spots and a spotty spine line but it too was quite brindled and not a good dense black tone. His eyes were gold sadly, they did appear slightly better in the darker lighting later in the afternoon but still not hazel or green, yet. Long tail that tapers. Spotty but small paws.

SMOKE NEUTER MALE

1ST PC & BOB SHACKELLSWEESAMS GEORGE 2YRS.

Lucky to get the pc today, this lad has a nice big round head and a good body and legs to match but his type could be better. His ears are too wide at base, set fairly well in the right place on his forehead, in profile the nose is short, bite is level and eyes fairly round but rather pale toned lemon, which really should be gold, orange or copper. His cheeks are well filled. His coat is short and dense, acceptable contrast to the black upper coat and silver undercoat creating the smoke effect. He does however display some tabby markings which if any more defined would have affected this award along with his eye colour. Tail is broad at base but shows rings.

TIPPED NEUTER MALE

1ST PC & BOB UK GR CH CRAIGDHU PROSPECTOR 10YRS 4MTHS.

What a stunning cat! For his age, tippies were being bred with longer coats back then so this is a very good example of how to do it and he must have sired many generations of quality tipped cats! Huge chap, massive head and body and bone to legs. Excellent condition too. Got it all really, gorgeous type, coat, tipping, a crisp coat to boot! Still got green eyes, well done indeed!

TIPPED NEUTER FEMALE

1ST PC SMITH’S CH TEMPLEGATES CARMEN.SEE AC PREMIER.

AC COLOURPOINTED NEUTER MALE

1ST PC McCOLL’S GR PR BRITARD SEYMOUR (40/7) 2YRS 7MTHS.

Big lad, tad out of balance from head to body though. Very good bone and muscle tone. Broad head tapers to a fractionally squared muzzle, level bite and chin, cheeks should be more well filled at this age for balance too. Medium ears set well apart and into the rounded contours of his head. The mask is travelling across his cheeks and up into the brow which is a pity, otherwise they all match nicely for mid cream tone, legs paler but this is usual. Coat is marginally long but is nice and dense. Good mid blue eye colour to the rounded eye.

BOB: GORDON’S GR PR BEAUNOUVEAU COPPERBODDLE (40/3) 5yrs.

Super lad! I see he got the Imperial, many congrats.

CHOCOLATE BURMESE KITTEN

1ST & BOB HAMILTON’S INYANGA KIYOMI F 3MTHS 3 WKS.

Dainty baby in what must be her 1st outing, lovely temperament and purred all the time. Balanced kitten with proportionate legs and dainty oval paws of good weight for her size. Medium thick tail is slightly short to balance and tapers to a blunt tip. Short blunt wedge of good width at the cheeks and overall depth; gently rounded brow between slightly generous ears of gentle tilt, set well apart. Super golden yellow eyes set wide apart, showing typical expression, large and lustrous with good shape to lower line, upper line has gentle slant to nose. Short straight nose but just rounds off at the very tip, good break in profile. Level bite and chin of good depth. Baby coat of course but has promising texture; Lays close and is fine too. Colour is a warm chocolate, faint necklace otherwise quite even.

AC BSH SELF NON BREEDERS ADULT

1ST WANDBY’S GR CH MEWSOS RORY MACGREGOR (15c) 6yrs 6mths.

Big strapping lad but not at his best today. Fabulous bone, big solid muscular chap with a huge broad head, fairly neat ears set well apart, rounded brow, slight flattening to top of head though. Short broad nose, level bite, one canine only, chin recedes. Fabulous cheeks. Short thick neck, massive cobby body, short thick legs and a broad tail to balance. His eyes are small for his head though and of a pale lemony gold and is a fraction heavy browed. His coat is woolly, full of dead fur so lacked life and lay flat, could do with some show preparation as discussed with his owner, which I hope helps. Pleasing lilac tone.

AC BSH NON SELF NON BREEDERS ADULT

1ST. SMITH’S CH TEMPLEGATES SHADOWFAX (39) 2YRS 6MTHS.

Lovely balanced cobby lad of very good type and conformation. Superb apple head, excellent balance to his head type, super large rounded green eyes, well outlined in black. Short broad nose, brick leather, level bite, chubby cheeks. Close coupled. Excellent coat, short dense and crisp and very nice light even tipping. Good tail. Overall a superb cat! My selection for Best BSH Adult.

2nd JAY’S PINEMARTIN FLOWER (31A)

EXTRA 2ND. MACLEAY’S KRUZINKAL ENIGMA (40/7 1YR.

Super typy lad if a tad small for a boy, excellent apple head shape but fractionally heavy browed. Large rounded mid blue eyes, well done on this “colour”. Level bite, firm deep chin and chubby cheeks. Long bodied at present, short in the legs of very good bone. Excellent palish mask shape, tonally all points match but it’s a hot cream (maybe the lighting today?) Legs much paler as is generally acceptable, just enough contrast against the creamy white body colour which was nice and clear. Tail thick and ringed.

3rd. HARRISON’S GR CH ADCINSH SILVER EDWIN (30S) 3YRS 8MTH

Lovely lad of very good type and bone and coat but let just a little down today by quite a lot of brindling which I hope clears.

AC BSH SELF BREEDERS KITTEN

1ST PROUT’S FERGAN BOMBAY SAPPHIRE (16) F 6MTHS.

Well grown lass of good solid feel and muscular development supported by short thick legs and fat paws. Tail is broad at base but shows tabby rings at present. I was called by the open judge to this kitten as the Duty vet had confirmed a very minor defect, I can just about feel a small pip but did not consider this a fixed deviation. Round head shape but marginally flattened above the eyes which are gold in tone and rounded, ears are a tad wide at base but sell well into the contours, good cheeks developing. Level bite and chin. Muzzle a little square but this could be down to finishing teething. Cobby body. Her coat is fairly short but soft, unsound and a light silvered at the tips. Pleasing tone to the mid blue coat.

AC BSH NON SELF BREEDERS KITTEN

1ST MACLEAY’S KRUZIKNKAL DREAMS

2ND KURLILOX AYLISSA

3RD. PROUT’S FERGAN BOLD BUCCANEER (31A) M 5MTHS.

Out of balance lad, nice type with gold rounded eyes. Coat is too long and soft and unsound, ok on white to colour ratio.

AC BSH NOT HAVING WON A PC OR IC

1ST HENDERSON’S LEONITARA POLLYPOLKADOT (30ES) 1YR

Nice type to this well developed lass with good overall balance of head to body and tail to match with excellent tabby rings! Apple head shape with good width between fairly neat ears set well apart. Excellent cheeks. Large fairly round gold eyes, short straight nose, level bite and chin. Cobby body well grown and good weight supported by thick strong legs. Her coat is a tad soft but is dense and short. The spots show up well with nice tortie overlay, pleasing ground contrast.

2nd MACHIN-CAMPBELL’S VISATCHE STERLING

3RD. DAVIES ALFRESCA SILVER YEATS.

AC BSH ARISTOCRAT NEUTER

1ST MCCOLL’S GR PR BRITARD SEYMOUR.

This cat shouldn’t have been in this class as it is for cats who are not yet champions or premiers.

2nd. SHACKELLS’ WEESAMS GEORGE

AC BSH LOCAL NEUTER

1ST MCOLL’S PR TOPMARX SIR-LANCELOT (17) 1YR 6MTHS

Rather a plain looking lad for type but has super orange eyes and they are well rounded. Rather slender boned for a boy but of good weight for his size. His coat is a tad long and soft and was shedding today, of a warm toned cream. Nice sound colour to the roots though, this can be difficult to achieve.

AC BSH VISITORS NEUTER

Super class! Needed 2 1sts.

BURMESE BROWN ADULT

1ST DAVIDSON’S CH PULSARS LUSTRE LUTIN 1YR 10MTHS

Excellent weight, muscle tone and size to this stylish lad. Solid and muscular he has slender legs and large oval paws. His tail is a good shape with a rounded tip but marginally short to balance. Short wide blunt wedge of very good depth and width; Rounded brow between correct ears for shape and set. Fairly short nose, straight with quite good break in profile. Level bite and good depth to chin. Super typical expression to his chartreuse eyes that are set well apart and of good fullness and shape. Excellent rich glossy even brown coat that is fine and close lying.

BURMESE OR CHOCOLATE ADULT

1ST GILES’ CH RAWEKE SERENDIPITY (27c) 1YR 9MTHS

Excellent looking girl of very good type and balance, solid and weighty and muscular with shapely proportionate legs and oval paws. Tail to balance of good shape and length but just has a minor invisible end defect as confirmed by a Full judge. Super wedge that is both short and blunt and has excellent depth and width with gentle rounding to brow between good ears for shape, set and forward tilt. Superb large, full and lustrous yellow chartreuse eyes that have that wonderful “wicked” expression, set wide apart and are so typical of this breed. Distinctive break to her short straight nose, untidy but level bite and chin. Even clear pale lilac, marginally blue toned, again hall lighting could affect this today, coat that is short, fine and close lying and of a gorgeous satin texture. A super lady!

2nd. DAVIDSON’S HIGHLANDER ETERNAL FLAME (27b) 1yr 5mths.

Smaller built lady but of nice solid feel and very good weight for her size, supported by shapely proportionate legs and oval paws with a tail of good shape but a little short to balance. Large ears set reasonably well apart and are broad at base with slight forward tilt. Not quite the depth and width of the wedge as the winner, slight pinch to muzzle, level bite and chin of medium depth. Short straight nose with good break in profile. Full and lustrous pale yellow eyes, holding them fractionally rounded till relaxed, good lower line and upper gentle slant to nose. For me I felt she was slightly immature for her age still. Super coat! Short, fine and lays beautifully even choclate but has dark contrast masking.

AC BURMESE NOT HAVING WON A PC OR IC

1ST NISH’S PURFIFELIS TICKLED PINK (27c) 2YRS 3MTHS.

Solid well proportioned mature lady of style! Very good weight ably supported by slender shapely legs and oval paws, with tail of good shape and length to balance with paintbrush tip. Excellent short blunt wedge of very good width at the cheeks and depth from the top of head to lower jaw. Gentle rounding to brow between broad based medium ears set well apart. Short nose with distinctive break in profile, level bite and chin. Super short fine and close lying coat, good sheen and of pale even lilac. Full golden yellow eyes of good shape and set wide apart but would just prefer just a slightly fuller lower line, otherwise she has a good expression.

AC BURMESE ARISTOCRAT NEUTER

1ST EMMETT’S UK & IMP GR PR SANTILLO THEODORE (27b) 5yrs 2mths

Large well built and muscular lad with shapely legs and large oval paws, tail is just marginally short to balance and a trifle thick overall. Very good weight! Short wedge with gently rounded brow, just slightly flattened above the eyes though, ears of correct size and shape and set well apart. His nose is a trifle long but has a good break in profile. Untidy but level bite, chin good depth. Expressive chartreuse eyes, gentle slant to nose and fairly full lower line, I would for perfection though , prefer them slightly larger. His coat is fairly short, lays well, good texture and sheen, a slightly dark chocolate in tone a little uneven in places.
