WEST OF ENGLAND & SOUTH WALES CAT SOCIETY SHOW SATURDAY 28TH AUGUST 2010 JUDGE: CHARIS WHITE

Many thanks to Corinne Ash, who stewarded for me. We don’t get together very often so it was great for me to spend the day with Corinne – such a good steward and friend, and excellent company as well. Lucky me! Thanks again, Corinne, I am looking forward to our next day together.

AC BRITISH GR PR NEUTER MALE

IGPC – BURFORD’S GR CH & GR PR MIBAYBESE BOWJANGALS – Cream 02/11/06

Large, well grown, mature male in his prime – he has a broad deep body, well muscled, and he stands on short strong legs with large round paws. Tail just a fraction short but thick at the base and rounded at the tip. Broad round head with neat, well spaced ears. Eyes could be a fraction rounder but are well set, gold in colour. Short broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Good dense coat – well prepared for the time of year. It is short and crisp. The colour is on the hot side of cream but it is an even shade and sound, with very few ghost markings apart from some tail rings. Lovely condition and temperament.

RES. IGPC – WITHEY’S CH & GR PR SHAMISSYL SILVER SURPRISE – Black Silver Spotted 31/08/96

Very large broad cobby framed male with good deep body, well boned legs and firm rounded paws. Medium length tail with rounded tip just has a minor fixed deviation at the tip. Round head is just a fraction small in proportion to his large body. Full cheeks and well spaced, but slightly tall, ears. Large round green eyes with pleasing expression. Broad nose with brick leather. Level untidy bite, firm chin. Short dense coat with an even medium silver ground colour. The pattern is fairly dense black, with some very good spots evident but also some barring on his sides and a solid black spinal area. Well ringed tail. Good temperament.

FEMALE

1ST, IGPC withheld, WILDERSPIN’S CH & GR PR JANAMEL MISS SILVERSOX - Lilac Colourpointed 20/05/94

Medium framed female with a broad deep body of good balance and condition, strong legs and paws. She is of good weight and muscle tone. Broad round head with full cheeks and well spaced ears. Large round pale blue eyes, showing nystagmous to quite a strong degree. This was confirmed by the duty vet and was my reason for withholding the award. Broad nose, level bite and firm chin. Dense crisp slightly long coat with clear magnolia body colour and evenly contrasting lilac points. This cat is 16 years old and is in lovely condition for her age and I suppose that she will continue to be shown until she gets her Imperials but given her age and the eye condition, it would be nice to think of her enjoying retirement.

GOLDEN TIPPED ADULT, MALE

1ST, CC Withheld, AMARILLI’S OLD POSSUM’S RUFUS 07/05/09

Just a youngster needing time to develop. He has a long deep body which has still to broaden and to gain the weight for his age. His head is nicely rounded and his cheeks are filling out but his ears are tall and fairly upright at present. Eyes could be rounder but the shade of green is fabulous and they are well lined with dark brown. Broad nose and level bite, chin needs to firm. His coat is too long but it is crisp and dense, the undercoat rather on the pale side, lacking the richness, but with even medium black/dark brown tipping on the surface. He has some very pale areas on his chin and chest. I did not feel that he has yet attained the certificate level but I understand that he will also contribute to the Selkirk breeding and feel that the slightly different ear set and more rectangular body shape will fit well with them.

AC ORIENTAL LH ADULT, FEMALE

CC, BOB – BERRY’S BESAKIH’S INCOGNITO – Caramel Self 30/04/09

She is quite small but is well proportioned and her long body stands on long slim legs with oval paws. Long whip tail. Her body could be a little more muscular but she is young and has the time to build this up - and she does have the balance. Well proportioned wedge of good lines narrowing to a fine muzzle. Large ears are well set, wide at the bases, and she has Oriental shaped green eyes. Fairly straight profile, level bite, chin still firming. Her coat is medium long, fine and silky – the length is well developed considering her age. The colour is an even brownish blue, just fading a little at the roots. Well plumed tail. She was a little nervous but is coming along well.

ORIENTAL BICOLOUR NEUTER MALE

PC – MIDSON’S MIYOKO SUPER-TROOPER – Chocolate Silver Shaded & White Shorthair 21/11/08

An elegant male with a long firm body, good legs and oval paws, and a long tapered tail. Wedge is held on a slender neck and he has large ears, wide at the bases, following the lines in set. Green eyes of Oriental shape and set slant towards a nose which just has a slight dip in profile. Level bite and fairly firm chin. Short fine coat lies close to his body. The colours are mostly white with just the small patches of colour – the white areas are pristine and have a sheen. He has patches of colour on his nose and the top of his head, and there is a patch on the back of his right paw pad, and down his hocks and back legs. His tail is fully coloured apart from a white tip. There is some evidence of the shading in the patches although it is difficult to assess in such small areas amongst white; the colour has a rich chocolate tone. There are tabby markings in the patches apart from on his hocks. Well shown.

2ND - WHISTON’S LEBRETON CHEYENNE PLAINS – Seal Point & White Shorthair 06/07/06

Well grown mature boy with a slightly broad body, long slim legs and oval paws. Tail balances to body. Good triangular wedge with large well set ears following the lines of his head, and having wide bases. Blue eyes are Oriental in shape and are well set. Fairly straight profile, level bite and firm chin. His coat is short, could be a fraction finer but is flat lying. He has sufficient white for the Standard with a white patch on the top of his head and white running down in a fine line either side of his nose, round under his chin and onto his chest. It then runs continuously to his abdomen. He has white on all four legs and his paws – the points colour here is more diffused. Good seal brown points colour on face and solid tail. There is shading on the body colour but it tones with the points colour. Lovely temperament.

 3RD SAXON’S TORREYLAINE DIEGO – Chocolate & White Shorthair 09/06/09

Well grown muscular male with long tubular body, long legs and oval paws. Long tapered tail. Medium wedge held on a slender neck. Ears are of good shape – they could be a little wider set and he tended to bonnet them at times. Oriental shaped green eyes are well set to slant towards his nose. Fairly straight profile, level bite and fairly firm chin. Short fine coat lies close to the body. Correct proportions of white to the colour with white on ears and his face, more on the left side than the right. The white runs down from his chin, over his chest and through to his abdomen continuously. He has white on all four legs and paws, with tiny colour patches on his paws, and a solidly coloured tail. The warm chestnut brown fades a little at the roots and the main detraction is the numerous white hairs along the margins of the colour and, in places, straying into the colour. He would look far ‘crisper’ with a high impact if these were not present.

FEMALE

PC, BOB – WHISTON’S MIYOKO CHIQUITITA – Chocolate Silver Ticked Tabby & White Shorthair 21/11/08

Litter sister to the winning boy and she has the same elegance and stature, with a long firm body, good legs and paws and a long whip tail. Medium triangular wedge with large ears, well spaced, and green eyes of correct shape and set. Good profile, level bite and firm chin. Short fine coat lies close to the body. Good proportions of white, with white patches on top of her head and running under her eyes. She has a white chin, chest and tummy, the full length to her abdomen. White legs and paws. She has a narrow white patch in the colour on her back and a white ‘loop’ across her lower back above the base of her tail. There is good evidence of the ticking and silver in the coloured areas, and some tabby markings on the extremities. The colour extends from her back down her back legs, hocks and to her paws. Fully coloured tail. There are diffused colour patches on her front legs and paws. Well shown.

 AC BRITISH NON-BREEDERS ADULT MALE

1ST - STUBBS’ WILLOWOOD AUGUSTUS GLOOP – Blue 25/05/09

Solid and weighty for his age, he has a deep body which has yet to fill out. Tail balances to body. Lovely round head with well set but large and open ears. Large round eyes. Broad nose, acceptable bite – more scissor - in square muzzle and firm chin. Dense crisp medium blue coat of good length, sound but just slightly silvered.

2ND - AMARILLI’S OLD POSSUM’S RUFUS – Golden Tipped

 FEMALE

 1ST – WAIT’S HINDERSLYNE POLLY TOODLE – Blue Tortie & White 31/08/09

Long deep body stands on good solid legs with round paws. Medium length tail with rounded tip. Round head with slightly large, wide based ears. Full cheeks. Good expression to round gold eyes. Good profile and level bite. Short dense coat with good proportions of white to colours. The blue and cream areas are warm in shade, fairly sound with just some slight silvering on the blue. She has some good patching on her left side, with a bit more mingling on the left, but good patching on her face, limbs and paws. Fully coloured tail.

 AC BRITISH LIMIT NEUTER
1ST – WALKER’S AMAZOLOU SKARAMOOSH – Blue Tabby Selkirk Rex Longhair male 17/04/09

Rectangular body stands on medium length strong legs and firm paws. Good length and shape to tail. Medium sized well set ears and large open eyes with good expression. Good rounded forehead, correct profile to nose, level bite with padded muzzle developing, firm chin. Semi-long plush coat with good random curls and waves and a good density of texture. Attractive colour.

2ND - WINN’S ACOZNI THUMBELINA – Blue Shaded Longhair female 30/06/09

Good balance for her age and her rectangular body has weight and bone. Tail balances to body. Broad head could have a more rounded profile and her ears could be a little larger – they are of correct shape. Lovely big round eyes. Cheeks filling out. Broad nose, undershot bite – she also lacks any padding at the whisker pads, or the rectangular look to the muzzle. Chin could be firmer. Thick dense coat of uniform length and no sparse areas. It stands out from the body and shows good unstructured loose individual curls. Very pretty.

Litter brother to the above and again he has the elegance and muscle tone – both are well developed for their age. He has the long firm body, and good stance to legs and paws.
